The Chama Grill is a restaurant that’s so close to becoming a very good restaurant, but the speed of getting food to table, I feel is a problem. Some people may like the slower pace, but I am not one of them. I like to...arrive at a restaurant, order, eat and leave. This is my only issue with the Chama Grill. The following is what I feel makes this restaurant really good. The restaurant is in a very convenient part of North Andover with plenty of off street, free parking. The restaurant is very clean and very well decorated. The menu features a Brazilian Barbecue and a lot of Italian dishes. Our party was a group of twelve. Two people got the all you can eat Brazilian Barbecue and two people got a giant Cobb Salad. The rest of our party got fish, Chicken parmigiana and a surf and turf. Everyone one in out party was extremely satisfied and full! The two people who selected the all you can eat Barbecue, loved it. The chef kept bringing over different types of proteins and then carves them right in front of you or removes them from the skewers. We all watched and were all amazed at the quality and the amounts they received. The two Cobb salads were delicious. One person had chicken on the salad and the second had sirloin. The surf and turf was small, but delicious. The Cajan Haddock, Salmon, Chicken Marsala, Chicken Piccata & Chicken Parmigiana were all large portions and delicious. For desert, our party ordered, Carrot Cake, Chocolate Lava cake & Tiramisu. The server was attentive and was consistently refreshing our drinks. The restaurant was pretty full but no one was waiting for a table. The restaurant always features young pianists who will be majoring in music in college. They are very good and very entertaining. Give the restaurant a tryMore

My wife and I visit Chama grill at least once a year for the past ten years or so for their all you can eat meats etc. The server brings all kinds of freshly cooked meats right to your table, slices them in front of...you as with some you need the tongs they provide to grab your meat with and its all you can eat. Last night was the best visit ever. The place was packed (most crowded we have ever seen it), a little loud but with happy people like us, with a piano player in the background. More cooks and servers than we have ever seen. We did have a poor visit here a few years ago and I reviewed appropriately. But this was our BEST visit here ever! We have not stopped coming because the food is really good.Tasty Food with a great waitress made a perfect night, seems like they have made improvements to their poor reviews regarding service. They keep this up and reservations will be needed days in advance. Give it a try!More

We opened the door to the restaurant and were hit with a wave of noise. The restaurant was fairly full and hard surfaces abounded, so everyone's conversation just blasted. Our waitress had trouble hearing us, we had trouble hearing her. Noise level decreased as the...restaurant emptied. We ordered eggplant parm and shrimp scampi and as others have noted, getting one's food takes a while. We nibbled on the rolls and sipped the Sam Adams seasonal. The meal finally came and the food was very good. 5 large tasty shrimp on a bed of tasty pasta with just the right amount of garlic. The eggplant had a nice roasted flavor and good texture. The quality of the food made the wait worth it. We did not sample the coffee or desserts, perhaps next time. There was live piano music, very good pianist, a nice touch.More

For the first time I can honestly say this is the worst place we’ve ever experienced. Hair in a appitzer and hair in the entrée twice In a sitting The waitress saw the hair even held the hair and brought the hairy ribs back to...the kitchen to reorder a new rib meal. Got the same meal back 10 minutes later the ribs were just rearranged. My wife ordered the pasta primavera this took an hour to come out from the kitchen it was soup with ziti . My friend just ordered the sausage soup this took 40 minutes and there wasn’t any sausage in it just broth veggies and bone slivers . I can’t make this up. I could go on but my thumbs are tired . The waitress took 8 bucks of the total bill of over 400 bucks. Stay awayMore

We haven't been to the Charma Grill in a few years. During the week I saw an ad on facebook and decided to go back. There were not many cars out front and that scared us. Everybody knows when a restaurant is slow the service...is usually not very good. It is 4th of July week so city restaurants are not busy. We decided to sit at on of the high top tables in the bar area. Michael was the bartender/server. He was great. Kathy had a dirty martini and said it was one of the best. I had a sangria that was equally good. He was a classy exceptional server, someone management should be proud of. He came over at the appropriate time to take our order and then brought some rolls with a toasted cheese topping that were great. Kathy had chicken francese that was exceptional with a nice egg batter and lemon wine sauce over pasta. She said it was perfect. I had the rodizio (Brazilian barbeque). It is served with fried bananas, rice, salad, pico de gallo, polenta and the meat. The servers come around with endless meat. They serve great sausage, filet in bacon, lamb, chicken many great styles, sirloin, pork loin (somebody told me 14 meats). Remember it is 4th of July weekend and they were not crowded. I was concerned about the meat but it was none stop, well prepare and delicious. I cannot comment o the nice desert tray because we were too full. The rodizio is $33 and worth every penny. They have a 6 th anniversary special and it is $24 through the end of August if you mention the Anniversary special. Other meals are also discounted so it is a great time to try this restaurant if you never have or go back again.More

We (my wife and two grown children) arrived at 7:00 on Saturday night and we were told it was a 30 minute wait. We went to the bar and my daughter got a drink. She said it was very good but the glass was so...filled with ice that she didn't actually get much liquid in it. There was a pianist playing and he was very good if not a bit loud. We sat down about 7:30, so far so good. The atmosphere is very nice and the place is decorated well. My daughter ordered another of the same drink and it must have been a different bar tender because there wasn't the excess ice. Unfortunately she said it wasn't as tasty either. Okay, a little inconsistency isn't abnormal for a non-chain. I ordered a cup of chowder which came out quickly enough but it had mushy potato and maybe had a clam in it. Everyone ordered their meals and the waitress brought over some really nice rolls. I thanked her and mentioned that we were all very hungry. Over an hour passed and we hadn't been served our main courses. The waitress was very apologetic and said the kitchen was backed up with a large party that had been seated about the same time we were. Okay, but an hour? I told her that we were not staying if our food wasn't coming out very soon. We saw her waiting by the kitchen and she brought us a rib appetizer without being asked (she was really trying her best and we appreciated that). We were finally served about 1:20 minutes after ordering. I had ordered the scallops risotto and a shrimp dish arrived so I mentioned it to her but I should have just said nothing and eaten it. She sent it back and about 10 minutes later my scallops arrived. Raw! At this point I had really had enough of this place and I told the waitress that I was going to eat the risotto but the scallops were not cooked. The manager (maybe owner?) came over and apologized, he took the scallops off the bill and had the chorizo sent over to my table. Most of that was tough meat but the sirloin was fine. He apparently gave the waitress a hard time because she looked like she was almost in tears when we left. It wasn't her fault at all and I left her a heavy tip to try and help him see that. So, this was the worst experience I have ever had at a restaurant and we will never return.More

I live in Brazil, I didn’t expect this to compare to a good churrascaria there, but I was hoping it would at least compare favourably with others in the US. The service was very slow, and we were almost forgotten about near the end (and...there was only one other table.) The accompaniments were served on the table rather than the usual buffet, there was no farofa, farinha, guaraná or grilled pineapple (the waitress said she gets asked for them a lot, there’s a good reason for this...) Like I said at the start, I didn’t expect the levels of a churrascaria in Brazil, but I hoped for at least an attempt.More

My wife and I have lived in North Andover for 4 years, we never stepped foot in Chama, boy were we wrong. Both times we were extremely pleased by the menu, the staff and also how kid friendly it was. I love the all you...can eat BBQ, although bring an appetite. My kids loved the meatballs, bread, and aranchini. We were pleasantly surprised by the drink menu, not to mention the variety of options. You really can't go wrong here at all. Top notch beers, mixed drinks, and wine. Great for a date night, family gathering, or special occasion.More

Beyond disappointed. I work hard for my money and don't like to throw it out the window. Going to Chama is like setting your cash on fire. We had reservations on 2/17 for a large group. We were seated promptly. Drink orders taken quickly. That's...when everything went downhill. It took almost 20 minutes to get our first round. It was a foreshadowing for what was to come. At that point we should have got up and left. Everyone in our group got the BBQ. It was probably another 25-30 minutes before we were provided with the platters of the sides that go with the BBQ. Maybe 15-20 minutes after that was when the first meat was brought out. So it was over an hour before we had our mains. Service was spotty with long lapses between the various meat courses. When our table ran out of side orders we had to keep requesting refills. That we never received. We were there for three hours and never had the sides refilled. We never even got to sample each of the meats that is supposed to be part of the bbq. The bbq chefs ignored our table. We were seated by the kitchen so there my group is sitting with empty plates for 45 minutes watching the skewers being taken to other tables. A few in my group got up to find out what the story was. When I asked a waitress, Melissa, what the deal was, that our plates were empty she barked at me. It was my fault apparently that the kitchen didn't prepare enough food. We spoke with other staff and despite their empty, hollow promises of 'we'll get the sides refilled' or 'we'll send the chefs over' they never did. Our plates remained empty. Unlike an all you can eat buffet the Chama is all you can eat but it's conditional on the staff actually bringing you food. Maybe the owner is cheap and wants to limit the 'all you can eat' portion by not actually providing food to people. After the final time the bbq chefs stopped by our table there was another 45 minute gap just sitting there with empty plates and no sides. You can't eat and then stop for 30 minutes and then be given a little piece of something and then another 30 minute gap and then a tidbit then another 30 minute gap. Two people at our table were each given a chunk of meat, but no one else. So the rest of us are sitting there hungry with empty plates wondering what just happened. The chefs never came back. We were there for three hours, left hungry and it cost over $80 a couple with very few drinks and no dessert. Folks in my group had to stop for food on the way home because they were hungry. There are a lot of good Brazilian restaurants in the area. Chama is not one of them. Chama is not real Brazilian bbq. I've never left Brazilian bbq hungry before. Extremely overpriced for fair quality food, horrible service, in a loud setting that doesn't provide the food that it promises. AVOID and SPEND YOUR MONEY ELSEWHERE.More
