Legal is our go-to when we want sea food and we don't feel like trying something new. They have a good variety and aren't overly expensive. They make an excellent lobster roll.

Went to Legal Sea Foods to celebrate our son's birthday. All he wanted was lobster and the food did not disappoint. He chose the lobster bake and upsized his lobster to to 2 lbs. we also had mussels, tuna and swordfish, all delicious an filling. Dessert was bananas foster (with a candle) and a song fest by staff and fellow... More

There was a time when Legal's was absolutely the best fish restaurant -- or anyway, when you could tell yourself that. And it was a lot easier to get to than someplace on the wharf or whatever. Unfortunately, the place has let itself slip pretty badly. The seafood is certainly fresh, no question about that. But the menu seems to... More

Always looking to try different places, but nice to know that there's some go to places should we fall short on ideas. Restaurant is clean. Service attentive. Food is typically flavorful. Enough for the kids as well.

We were seated promptly though a busy time. The restaurant is modern. I had a lobster bake and cannot say it met my expectations for taste, I learned I am not a lobster fan, particularly when not served piping hot. (Ours were warm at best) There are much better options on the menu and I will make a different selection... More

I eat lunch here about once a week. At the bar. Mostly dependable. Mediterranean salmon is a best bet. Delicious. Well prepared.

Nice place, nice environment, good service but the food is not so good. My favorite dinner here is: their hot bread and butter, clam chowder and prosecco. When you try other plate you can be disappointed. Antipasto Mussels: small and with no flavor As Entree a big plate of fried sea food: too dark (oil used too much) and sea... More

Enjoyed crab cakes for lunch on a surprisingly busy Monday afternoon. As always the cakes were all meat, with no filling, and came with a fresh and tasty salad with their wonderful dressing. French fries cake out piping hot and crisp and coleslaw had a tangy and lite dressing. Service was prompt with water refilled without asking and request for... More

The signature dish at Legal Sea Foods – really fresh fish. One of our first restaurants and still a popular lure, we are located on Route 9 in the Chestnut Hill Shopping Center. We are still keeping things fresh at our bar, our open dining room and in our take-out counter and Fish Market. Legal Sea Foods has long proven that a consistent, high quality dining experience never goes out of style. With over 40 varieties of fresh fish and shellfish available throughout the year as well as an award-winning wine list, there’s no doubt why legions of fans have fallen hook, line and sinker. We’ve received a boatload of accolades including “Most Popular Boston Restaurant” (Zagat, 2012/2013), “Best Seafood Restaurant” (Improper Bostonian, 2010), “Best Chowder” (Boston Magazine, 2010), “Best Seafood Restaurant” (Boston Phoenix, 2009) and the honor of serving our legendary New England Clam Chowder at every presidential inauguration since 1981.
