On May 15,eleven of us had brunch at The Cottage in Chestnut Hill to celebrate my daughter's graduation from college. She had been once before with a large group of people and everyone had loved their food. We had some good food on May 15 too, but had a number of disappointments which I took the time to write to... The Cottage restaurant has a lovely open design with light colors and great décor. The menu has an interesting variety of items, some are interesting and unusual like Griddled Jumbo Lump Crab Cake, while others are more common in name but equally distinctive in taste.

We waited over an hour for our entrees (a salad and a steak). Worse, my crab cake appetizer came with HUNKS OF ICE mixed into the frisée. Clearly the vegetables had been previously frozen, which is just unnecessary and off putting. For the price, we won't come back.

I have eaten at The Cottage several times with different friends and have always enjoyed the service and the food. Yesterday I met a friend for a catch up conversation and lunch. The hostess was pleasant and helpful -- she noted that there was a woman waiting for a friend and wanted to make sure it was not my party.... More

Tried Sunday brunch last weekend. Their menu allowed egg orders to be prepared as omelette, frittata, or scramble. Two ordered omelette, and two ordered frittata. Both individuals said they were disappointed with the omelette. The frittata served was a flat pancake like serving with a crusty bottom. They should have been sent back, they no more resembled a frittata I... More

Besides great food at reasonable prices, tables are set far enough away from others that you don't worry about being overheard. Not that we were sharing state secrets, but who needs to feel that the person next to you is listening in. Background music was nice and muted. I really don't like to have to shout over edgy new music... More

Excellent meal with my family. The Peruvian chicken salad is to die for -- too much fun to eat for a salad!!! Highly recommend.

Last night I used a coupon for dinner at the Cottage. It's located right on Route 9 nestled in between Shake Shack & Legal Seafood and it's absolutely wonderful. I received a warm welcome at the door and had THE most fantastic server EVER!! She was funny, knew the menu, made some wonderful recommendations, and was very attentive without being... More

The cottage is an ideal spot for lunch or dinner with friends or kids. They have a great menu and are very kid friendly. For awhile the service was slow but they seem to have really picked it up lately. The avocado salad is a favorite.
