We decided to try Alicante for a birthday dinner, and requested a table on the outdoor patio overlooking the lake. (I didn't get a good look at the interior spaces, but got the impression that they have a good view of the lake as well.)...I chose Veal Bolognese for my main course, and my wife went for a special, Lobster Ravioli with Shrimp. We split a fine Caesar Salad to start. My main course was the best veal dish I have ever eaten. The veal was very tender and well breaded, and the sauce was exquisite, a tomato based sauce with lots of meat in it, and a pleasant sweetness to it. My wife raved about her dish as well, both the amount of lobster in the ravioli and the flavor of the tomato cream sauce. I faced a tough decision: whether to finish my whole meal, which would have precluded dessert, or to take some home and get chocolate mousse cake. I chose the latter, and it was a good choice. Our server, Kari, was attentive, professional, and helpful. We will certainly be back.More

First restaurant meal of the new season! We chose Alicante for outdoor dining on the deck. We were delighted by how beautifully situated it is to take advantage of the pondside views. (In general the restaurant is observing excellent COVID protocol inside and out...) Our...waitress showed us how to access the menu on our cell phones and helped us through GF options, which were tricky but ultimately successful. We enjoyed an absolutely delicious meal start to finish, at the leisurely pace we wanted.More

My husband and I went with our friends who had recommended this restaurant and so glad we did!! First of all the restaurant is in a elegant waterfront setting and we got there before 5 so we can view the sunset on the waterfront which...is just so pretty. We then had cocktails and I enjoyed the expresso martini!! Our server Jose and John were outstanding. In fact, John helped me pick out a nice bottle of red wine Montepulciano as I was not familiar with the wine selection. The wine was very smooth and not too dry. Our meals were so delicious, some had the lamb chops and I had the Pollo Oscar which was chicken breast, lobster meat, asparagus, spinach, ricotta, provolone, and mashed potatoes! Mine was so good I did not want to finish it all so I brought the leftovers home so I could enjoy it the next day which I did!! We took dessert home which was the chocolate mousse cake and so yummy. Next time my husband and I visit our friends we will be sure to stop by as we live in NH. Again, thank you Jose and John for such a wonderful time and great experience!!More

Social media contacts recommended we try Alicante & I’m glad we did; I asked for their favorite fine dining restaurant. We didn’t dress up, but most do; no one ever made us feel under-dressed. We made our reservation for 4 pm, because we wanted to...be sure we sat outside; we had a beautiful view, on the deck, of the lake. There is a deck and also a tented area, on the water; the side of the tent, facing the water, was open, so the view would be beautiful from there, as I well, as far as I could tell. Katherine waited on us and we highly recommend her! She was there when we needed her, but did not hover; our entrees was timed perfectly after our order of oysters + salad, and our desserts were timed perfectly after our entrees. When we go again, I’d really like to have Katherine again, though it looked like everyone working there was very good. Chef had a lot of specials added on to the menu; I did have a hard time choosing, because it all sounded delicious. I don’t eat seafood so, obviously, I didn’t try the oysters, but was told how good they are; there are many options for those who like seafood & those who don’t. The dish I ordered (one of the specials for the day) came with shrimp and chicken; there was no problem with my swapping out the shrimp for more chicken. Definite benefit of them making the food to order! Highly recommend going here, as I’m sure you’ll be happy with any dish you try! I would add more photos, but Trip Advisor option is only for a single photo.More

Alicante reopened with a waterside tent that carried the ambiance from the classy interior to Alfresco Dining. Still the same great service and great food. One of our two or three favorite restaurants outside of downtown Boston or Providence and without the drive and parking...headache. Before you order from the menu wait to hear the specials because there is always something SPECIAL and if they have Swordfish try it as it is always perfectly prepared. Truly amazing how they always serve a great meal.More

We are so fortunate to have this restaurant close to us. We always go for special occasions, birthdays, anniversarys, etc. and have never been disapointed. Even the take out dinner for Mother's Day was delicious. Wlll be back in the near future.

It had been a few years since we last ate at Alicante. We dined early on a Friday evening in January and had two wonderful dinners. My husband had the rack of lamb with a red wine reduction that was perfection. I had my go-to...meal of paella which was just as good as I remembered from our last visit several Years ago. One might comment that the menu hasn’t changed much over the years and that it’s not extensive but what they offer is prepared with care and the portions are just right. The servers we had this time were very good. That has improved over time. The last time we visited a woman choked. Myself and another diner rescued her. Our server didn’t offer to warm my then cold meal or even acknowledge what happened - no one from the restaurant said one word to us. The woman we helped left by ambulance and the restaurant staff did nothing either during the emergency nor after to check on how we were doing once I got back to the table and a stone cold meal. I swore I’d never return but after many years my husband convinced me to give it another try. I’m glad we did. It’s good to create a new more positive memory of an old favorite.More

Another visit to the Alicante Restaurant and another superb dining experience. The Alicante is off the beaten path, located adjacent to a small, scenic pond in Mendon, Mass. The restaurant is front the pond, with windows running along the narrow two table wide structure. Almost...every table has a view of the pond, but the window side tables offer the best views. During the day, the pond offers lovely views, while at night, you can see a modicum of light reflecting off the water. The Alicante provides server teams, often four or more servers providing water, specials, taking your order, delivering drinks, dinners and desserts. On this night we selected two specials, a Sous-vide chicken dish with mashed potatoes and Brussel sprouts, and a Sesame encrusted Sashimi Tuna. The tuna was seared and served at my requested rare temperature. It was a wonderful and cut of tuna, and absolutely delicious. The sous-vide chicken was tender and tasty, and the Brussel sprouts were nicely prepared, tender, mild and succulent. You might note that I didn’t mention appetizers or dessert. That’s because the entrée portions at the Alicante range from very large to huge! My tuna was the largest piece of Sashimi I’ve ever consumed, by a substantial margin. And leftovers of both the sous-vide chicken and mashed potatoes accompanied us on our drive home. An important tip – Make Reservations! When we arrived, a couple in front of us asked for a table but didn’t have a reservation. The wait time was over two hours. They do have a pond front bar which offers dinner and drinks on a first come, first serve basis. We consider this one of the best restaurants in the area and hope to visit again soon.More

This restaurant is located on a lake so it must be ideal for wedding functions. The food was very good. We tried the specials of the night and were not disappointed.

Reasonable pricing for beautifully prepared cuisine and staff willing to make changes to orders graciously. Lobster bisque and Squash soup excellent. Wife had Pollo Lisboa ...chicken beautifully tender battered and sauteed with wonderful risotto. My evening feature of veal chop lightly breaded with Bolognese sauce...was perfectly seasoned and wonderfully tender. The excellent waiter was kind to offer tastes of my two consideration of red wine by the glass. His recommendations through out the dinner was top notch. Superb service. BRAVO!!More
