We were celebrating our group all being vaccinated and able to enjoy the company and delicious food from Cheng-du , have ordered here before and it was ok but yesterday all the food very well prepared and delicious. I was a loyal customer of Cheng-Du for years. I was always confident that they understood what cross contamination was and how important it was to prepare gluten free food that was safe for my family. And up until about six months ago, we never...had any issues. During the past few months, we have had take-out from Cheng-Du three times. Each time I placed my order I requested that it be gluten free. I explained that I am sensitive. Each time I was reassured that care would be given to my order and that it would be gluten free. I was very careful. I was sick for days after all three orders. I called and spoke with the manager and was told that "he will look into it". He said that there is a very high risk of cross contamination in their kitchen. He did not offer to take down my phone number or call me back. I am not one to complain typically but I do not want anyone to get fooled into thinking that Cheng-Du "gets" the gluten fre diet and I do not want anyone else to get sick from eating here!More
Ordered several items to go and it was prepared well, the bone in ribs were a bit tough, the house rice was delicious. Our order was ready on time and will return :))
Chinese food is so very different south of Boston from what is offered on the No. Shore that the crisp presentation of a place like Cheng Du.
We normally drive across town to a different Chinese spot. We decided to give this place a try. It was average. Not great, not bad. The chicken wings were good. The orange beef was average, if not to sweet. I asked for the spice level...to be medium. It was not to be found other than the sugar. I'm not complaining though, as I said it wasn't bad.More
We have been visiting Cheng-du for take out for years, unfortunately, the quality has been disappointing recently. The Pad Thai used to be very good, now it is very bland. The chicken dish that we have always ordered is now mostly vegetables, very little chicken....Dumplings also have much less filling than previously, now mostly just dough. They have always included 2 containers of duck sauce, now you only get one and tonight that container was barely half full. This is no longer an option for us, very disappointing.More
We went to Cheng-du the other day with family. It was late afternoon before the dinner hour. Our niece was in a show and between performances so time was of the essence. My sister and her family are regulars and the staff quickly recognized her...and welcomed her. They quickly had our order ready. We ordered several appetizers, fried rice, lo-mein, and chow mein. It was all good. They have a more varied menu; our family just tends to like these items. The crab rangoon was amazing. It seemed a bit sweeter than other restaurants. Our brother in law joined us late. The owner remembered him and immediately brought him a ginger ale (his usual drink) on the house.More
The food is here is average. I think Chinese food should be savory and not sweet. The Lo Mein is sweet and that's not my thing. If you like sweet Chinese food, then you'll love this place.
My family enjoyed an evening at the Mansfield Block Party and Cheng-du had a food plate for $8 that was both flavorful and filling. I enjoyed the friend rice and crab rangoon very much and found both the chicken wings and chicken dish had excellant...flavor.More
Been coming here for many years and enjoying the best Chinese/American food in the area. Very consistent with many people, servers and cooks, the same year after year. Love the hot and sour soup and shrimp/calamari items. Usual dishes like Kung Pao, General Gau, moo...sho excel. Very reasonable prices and large beer list. Very casual with large area following.More
We found Cheng-du while visiting out daughter at college, and we needed a restaurant sort of late (9pm), and with gluten free options for my wife. Cheng-du was a great find. Menu had lots of gluten free options, and everything was tasty. Service was very...nice, and the space was very comfortable. We will be back next time we're in town!More
I expected much more from this place. The food came out cold after 45 min of waiting time. Than when it was to be remade fresh it came out in 10 min hmmmm.... Microwave??? We ordered 8 dishes between 9 ppl and all cold. I...will not be going back to this establisment ever again.More
Always a five star meal at Cheng-du. Delivery is great, fast and food always arrives hot and fresh. Crab Rangoons are other-worldly.
Over priced, small portions. Nice atmosphere, but nothing special about the food. We won't go back. There are better places in the area.
We recently ate at Cheng-du while visiting our daughter at college. We will be back! The food is excellent and service was attentive but not bothersome. This place is a gem. You won't be disappointed.
