Hostess says they can’t seat anyone for 45 minutes because they took a large carry out order and the kitchen is too busy to fix anything for customers in the actual restaurant. Really??

The title says it all. Not only was my order late, it was not made to my request. I'm guessing that due to the lateness of my order with reference to the others in my group they were rushing. That rushing caused meat to be...mixed in with the peppers and onions in breakfast burrito. I even asked a few times since I am basically vegetarian. Nonetheless as a looked into the burrito I found meat (probably sausage of some sort). Sorry for the just average review, but at this point I am not a happy camper. Just hope to get home before the rumbly tumbles start. Wish me luck.More
Fresh, homemade and the owner/chef visits all the tables. Excellent service, cute rustic place set in a wildflower garden.
We have had breakfast here for the past several years and always very pleased with the food. Although the servers , while friendly, often feel like they get caught up chatting amongst themselves and with regulars We were disappointed with the food this year. My...omelet was over cooked and dry, the English muffin was chewy and the fruit less than ripe. My husband gets the lemon ricotta pancakes & chicken sausage every year. The pancakes were not tender & light like lemon ricotta usually is and the sausage, too, was dry. Overall for both of us overcooked food lacking in flavors. Decent coffee which was replenished regularlyMore
This past May we wrote a 3 star review of the restaurant titled "Not" On A Roll which clearly got the attention of the owner. More about that later. Recently, we ate breakfast there again and the place we have enjoyed for many years was...back in stride. We were seated promptly, the service was attentive, our breakfasts excellent and David checked in to make sure everything was as it should be. Kudos to all. Now back to our review which clearly bothered the owner. First, he pointed out that we had never posted a positive review following our many earlier visits. He is correct. Clearly, an oversight on our part . His comments that we had no oncept of what was going on behind the scenes to effect their performance on the day in question is also correct; however, the answer that day was not to ignore us but rather, greet us at the door, explain to us that things are backed up, let us know it will take them additional time to get to us and we would, of course, understand. A simple straightforward and timely explanation would have been all that was necessary. Hopefully, faced with a similar situation in the future, management will remember that we might not be aware of what is happening out back but up front we are your customers and we should never be taken for granted, particularly when it takes but a minute to explain whatever is going so that we know the situationMore
One of the best breakfast sandwiches ever! Also avocado toast was tasty. Service fine and friendly. Outside ambiance lively
On a Roll Cafe is a great additon to the Lenox food scene. We had both breakfast and Lunch there. It is located in Lenox Commons and is very charming inside and a lot of pleasant outdoor seating. The menu has many delicious offering. The...baked goods are excellent and I particularly enjoyed the homemade sausge. The service is great. All servers are pleasant and efficient. I wish i could this cafe home with me.More
Outrageously expensive for poor quality omelets that were bland and undercooked. Nice setting but not worth $54.00 for 2, for breakfast.
We have been coming here for years and always had good service and good food. Not today. Arrived 5 minutes early for our breakfast reservation but was kept waiting for almost 10 minutes to be seated although numerous tables were open. Seated at table with...no napkins or silverware. Not given menus upon being seated and had to go to counter to get them. Waitstaff finally arrived and told us she had just been assigned our table. Although busy, by no means packed, yet, took 40 minutes to get our meals. Food was good as always. Although he has always done so in the past, manager/owner never came over to ask us about our experience. Perhaps just a bad day but hope that this is not a sign of success leading to complacency. Need to get back ON A ROLL!More
What really amazes me about this negative review is that in all the years you've been coming and all the great experiences you've had, you never bothered to write a good review about us. I do apologize that your experience was less than expected. It...More
I just love the lemon ricotta pancakes here. I order the 3 full stack and I end up taking it home because they are so filling. That and a cup of coffee and I am happy.
From burgers to sandwiches to salads this cafe has it all. Great service, nice people. And don’t pass on the butternut squash bisque if they have it! Highly recommend On a Roll Cafe!
Ate here for breakfast a few times while visiting Berkshires. Nice breakfast menu. There is plenty of outdoor seating when the weather is nice. Servers seem somewhat disorganized but maybe it was just an off day.
We came in for lunch during our hiking trip and food was pretty good. I had the seasonal Cider Butternut squash Bisque which was really delicious. The Cafe Roasted Turkey Sandwich was tasty and I enjoyed it. We also tried the Sautéed Calf Liver and...it was not bad. We would love to come back for breakfast for our next visit in MA.More
This definetly our go to place for Breakfast when we are in Lenox. You have to try the lemon and ricotta pancakes. Light fluffy and tasty. Also make sure you try their homemade sausage patties. We’ve eaten there several times this summer and certainly wish...I had that sausage recipe. Service is prompt and pleasant With nice interaction with the customers. They also offer outside dining on the porch and in the garden.More
Very friendly and helpful staff! I had a late breakfast…avocado toast which was very good, the everything bagel seasoning was a different take and really took what can be mundane up several notches. The bread was of excellent quality, good coffee. They have a covered...and open area outside, indoors is pleasant with some booths and as well as regular tables and chairs. I’d not hesitate to recommend and if I lived here I’d probably be a frequent diner!More
