Had a great dinner at Alta. I confused our numbers and they were very flexible and worked with me to accommodate us. Food is excellent and they provide wine recommendations for the entrees - which we loved and enjoyed some great bottles we might otherwise...not have chosen. Staff was great and they were very kind and patient with our group of 8.More

We had dinner at Alta while on an anniversary weekend. The food and service were excellent. We started with the mushroom tart and calamari—the tart was unique and creative. Both delicious!

A rainy Friday in mid-October, and we were pleased to secure a table on Alta's porch. There are some overhead heaters. A cup of very good sweet potato and ginger puree soup and a black coffee added to the warm feeling. The luncheon menu is...considerably shorter and less interesting than the dinner menu. We opted for Caesar Salads and they were acceptable if not exemplary. Our waitress was very cheerful and efficient. The proprietor was genuinely welcoming. With the solid wine list and more intriguing dinner options, we will certainly give them another go. The atmosphere is cozy and unpretentious.More

We celebrated our 15th wedding anniversary with a quick trip to Lenox, and booked dinner at Alta. We started with a glass of champagne, and enjoyed starters, mains paired with suggested wines, and a shared dessert. Alta continues to be our favorite restaurant in Lenox...(and there are many great choices in Lenox). Thank you for a great evening!More

Great soup, duck and Pomerol wine. No heaters outside yet so try to book inside. Ask to not be put in back room. Book early!

On a recent visit to Western Massachusetts we visited the lovely town of Lenox, MA twice. On the first visit the sky was overcast, so we looked for a place with some protection from the rain. We saw Alta, a charming restaurant with both dining...under umbrellas, a terrace and limited indoor dining. Our meal was so good and the service and care so impeccable that we returned for a second meal, equally enjoyable. First there is the food: tasty, healthy and generous. Delicious generous salads, sandwiches and a great selection of wine and beer. But the strongest selling point of this excellent restaurant is the care taken in your service. Each table is socially-distanced and cleaned meticulously by the charming owner. He won't allow a new patron to occupy a table until it is cleaned and dried. AND he insists that you provide him contact information just in case anyone that afternoon comes down with Covid. In other words: Someone who Cares About You! And he oversees the excellent servers with his personal touch and concerns.. If you are planning to be in Lenox, reserve in advance at Alta, or stop by to see if there is a table available. It will be worth the wait.More

So happy to be in the area to enjoy a wonderful dinner at Alta. Loved the baked cod (regular menu) and swordfish special. Also, loved the wine flight options because I sampled 3 wines for $12 and the entree has suggested wine pairings. My husband...doesn't drink wine but had plenty of other choices. You need reservations. Staff was wonderful and very safe during Covid. Saw them thoroughly clean tables & chairs between seatings. Waitress was very friendly. Street parking was easy before 6pm. "Casual but nice" attire was perfect.More

We went there last year on our visit and we had to go back ...,,,the food was delicious as we remembered We sat on the patio with heated vents so we were very comfortable Service was also wonderful We shared the lamb meatballs and the...calamari they were both really good The calamari was differ from others that had and it was probably one of the best dishes My husband had the cod which he said was very good I had the beef tenderloin and it was so tender you really did not need a knife Treat yourself to a great dinner hereMore

Waitress was very aware of gluten-free options. I had a very nice beef tenderloin for dinner, Only recommendation would be that I needed a little extra salt. My husband had homemade pasta that he said it was delicious. They had gluten-free bread for me which...was a nice touch. Very nice Crème brûlée for dessert.More

Really good kitchen. Nice sweat potato bisque and fried calamari. Very good duck breast in caramel sauce. The wine flight arrives in really small amount... not like in Capital Grill lol. And crème brûlée is not real one... but at least it’s not omelette ;)....But overall it’s really good place.More

I believe so because we were asked the question when we made the reservation. If you want outside dining, make a reservation early as the place was hopping!
