In the Berkshires for the weekend and on our way to the Norman Rockwell museum, we stopped at Joe’s Diner for breakfast (I love diners so we had to!). What an unexpected surprise, a print of one of Rockwell’s most famous paintings was on the...wall and then we discovered this diner was the inspiration for the piece. It’s a small, local spot which I love as it makes you feel you have really experienced a place. Our server Margaret was so friendly, efficient ….. and hilarious! I had the corn beef hash with eggs and my husband had the meat lovers omelette, both were delicious. It’s on the curve of route 20 but we got parking on the street directly in front of the restaurant, which I suspect was a rarity. A great place, highly recommend it and if you have to search for parking and/or walk , it’s totally worth it.More

All American food done right. Customer service is A+. Caring and friendly people run this diner. Inside has been meticulously renovated to a classic vintage style - worth a visit just to see it. And kept spotless. Delicious food, good portions and reasonable prices. Don't...let the outside fool you - yes it's a local diner, just step inside for the whole experience. You'll know why locals come here regularly for more than the food.More

First time here even though driving by it many times over the years. The food was great and the staff is super friendly. Wish I stopped here in the past!

Definitely a local joint. My father and his father both used to frequent Joe's; it's been around for decades and only lightly remodeled. My family makes an almost-regular weekly trip, and I joined them when I visited. We didn't arrive until nearly 6PM, and they...closed at 7. They were out of slaw, and our party got the two last servings of fish and chips. I chose clam strips with fries and since there was no slaw, a side salad. Best clam strips I'd had in quite some time. Everyone in our party was pleased. Of particular note was the seafood pot pie and the liver and onions. We also got the last two servings of boston creme pie; desert was great. I wasn't a big fan of the peach-raspberry cobbler, which I found heavy on peach and light on raspberry, but perhaps it was just because I was already full.More

We like to sit on the barstools at the counter. It’s like going back in time. When we are in Lee we have breakfast there every single morning. The waitresses are great. The locals eat there, which is always a good sign .

Great little spot! Hubby and I were in town and looking to grab a quick lunch. Texas Cheddar Burger was delicious. We will definitely stop again when we're back up that way. All the staff was super friendly!

Joe's Diner is a small town all American diner! A handful of tables plus 10 or so seats at the counter. We opted for the counter and watched as town locals known to the proprietor came in for their usual...dinner or carry-out order. They have...daily specials--full dinners--that must be the same from week to week. We both opted for burgers...a bacon cheeseburger and a blue cheese & grilled onions burger, both served with French fries. Warning: since they open at 6am, they close at 5pm on weekdays (closed Monday); they open a bit later and close earlier on the weekend.More

We went for a simple dinner, and this place is great - it's very much a local diner. Lots of locals come here. Partner had chicken and gravy, and I had liver and onions - both very good. Service was great.

If you want a true "hole-in-the wall" diner experience stop at Joe's. They close at 2, I arrived at 1:30 & was welcomed & not rushed at all. It's obviously a place for locals, but travelers are welcome too. Easy to miss (right at the...curve in town on 20), but free parking & good food. Had the chicken parm sandwich (with chips), coffee, $8. Total. Can you say inexpensive as well?! Recommend.More

There is some question if the iconic Rockwell painting was actually based at this diner as advertised, but who cares. Sitting there, in this small space, you can almost imagine the little "run-away" boy and the town cop sitting at the counter instead of the...regulars there that day. And the pancakes were not all that bad!More

We stopped by the diner only because it’s the location for the Norman Rockwell painting “Protect and Serve”. The food was average, and it was very clear that if you are a local, you will definitely receive better/faster service. As we were from out of...town (aka tourists), as well as about 40% of the other customers, the severs we mere slow to take care of (acknowledge) us during our visit. We sat at the counter because the tables were full, and it felt like we were sitting in a “locals” seat… in fact, some locals came in… ordered there food, got there coffee before we were even acknowledged. If you have a lot of time to spend… sure, spot in for a while - if not, you may want to try another spot.More

Great old school diner in downtown Lee. Nothing fancy but everything is good. If you familiar with Norman Rockwell then you might recognize this place has it is the subject of the painting of the little boy sitting on the counter stools along with the...police officer. A print of this is hanging on their wall along with a photograph of the two subjects 50 years later. It is quite touching. Staff and service are excellent and interact with the customers. They seem to be fun loving individuals who enjoy their work. Basic breakfast menu nothing really unusual but the food is good as a matter fact it’s quite good. Limited seating as the place is quite small but if you go I’m sure you’ll enjoy your visit.More
