This is a fun spot that has been a locals and tourists favorites for decades. We go primarily for the native clam plate that is heaped with the most succulent, tender and sweet clams that you will find on the North Shore. Fries are OK, onion rings are average -- the clams are SUPERB!

My wife and I stopped at the Icon Seafood Restaurant of Essex Count, The Clam Box, early in October. We ordered a large order of Clam Strips with fries, a burger with onion rings. The food was pretty good (I am not a seafood type), my wife enjoyed her meal, my burger was just OK, The onion rings could have... More

Had to try the whole belly clams! They were awesome! I had the mini plate with cole slaw. There were plenty of clams and the cole slaw is very good. The weather was perfect to eat at the picnic tables in the back.

Best clams you can get. If you never been here you must prepare yourself as you will wait in line. The wait is worth it as the oil is always fresh. People will sometimes bring small coolers with water as the wait can be almost an hour or more on hot days. Some people use umbrella's as well to shield... More

We visited the Clam Box while visiting Ipswich. We enjoyed a great seafood meal. The menu had something for everyone. We all left full and happy.

Local eats don't get better than this. The clams were outstanding - quality, quantity and preparation. Recommended to us by a guy on the train in Boston. He was right - it'd be a shame to miss this ine, if you're in the area.

Being from the West Coast, I have never really experienced this type of restaurant!! Now I understand why there is always a line out the door! The food was incredibly fresh. Sometimes with fried seafood, there is a greasy old heaviness, but not at the Clam Box! They change their oil frequently and you can tell in the flavor. The... More

Coming from the UK I like my fish & chips, so not afraid of fried seafood, which means dining in the Clam Box was a treat for me. I had the clam & scallop combo with fries and onion rings (I like to keep my colours all the same....anything green is bad). The seafood was succulent and tasty, so fried... More

Had lunch at the Clam Box last October with a friend. Weekday. Kids back in school. Twelve people in line. Five people working in the kitchen - at a glacial pace. Took 10 minutes to place our order for fried clams and another 15 to pick up our meal. Portions modest, mostly mediocre fries to fill up the plate. Tartar... More

Seafood at it's best. An extensive menu. Choice of plates, mini meals, boxes. Huge portions. Delicious onion rings. Expect long lines that move at a comfortable pace. Dimitri, the owner, always welcomes us back. Always a good time at Clam Box.

Thank marionkay
