I was reminded on this website that I had initially reviewed the Portside in December of 2017. My review was positive, and so is this one. While so many restaurants closed their doors permanently due to COVID, the Murphy family continued to pay their employees...and build an inviting outdoor patio seating area before reopening. It was refreshing to read my previous review of entrees my son and I had enjoyed, but this one is based on simpler fare -- namely pizza and soup. Recently I read an article about how the Portside is garnering notice for what we in Massachusetts call "South Shore bar pizza." Basically it's a 10-inch pie with a thin, crispy crust popular in Southeastern Massachusetts. Portside has brought this tradition to Cape Cod, albeit with some refinements such as house made ricotta cheese, white anchovies, and cured olives as opposed to simple black ones. I have tried one with mushrooms and anchovies, and another with ricotta and cured olives. Both were excellent. And the beef barley soup -- though pricey even for a modest portion -- is wonderfully accentuated by real prime rib in the mix. Definitely worth a trip.More
