Our hotel near the airport didn't have many good dinner options nearby so we looked up this place, liked what we saw, and walked over for dinner on a weekday. There was a nice firepit outdoors but we chose to sit indoors. I like that...it is family-owned and has a nice casual vibe. We enjoyed our chowders, and I enjoyed fried cod sandwich, and my wife enjoyed her Greek salad (wow, what a large portion). I also enjoyed a local beer and my wife had a cocktail. This is definitely the type of place we seek out when we're on vacation -- good food, good atmosphere, and good prices. We're glad we walked all the way here to dine.More

We came here as a family with a 3 year year old. They were very accommodating and gave him a book and a coloring book too! We started off with the Buffalo chicken pizza as an appetizer. It was delicious and the celery and carrots...were a nice addition. For our entrees we got the seafood Alfredo and scallops with risotto. The scallops were so buttery and smooth. The lobster from the seafood Alfredo melted in your mouth. It was the best seafood Alfredo I’ve ever had. I would definitely come here again.More

Probably the best lobster Mac n’ cheese we’ve ever had! Great drink options too. We sat on the front patio and will probably check out the upper deck/bar area next time we go.

Server was wonderful. Menu has something for everyone. Good beer and drink selection. House wine was good. Chicken tenders with gold fever was a combination of buffalo sauce and honey mustard. The chicken meat was all white and tender. They were amazing. Pizza was a...popular choice so we tried it. The Hawaiian was good. It was rainy so we sat inside but look forward to outside deck or patio next time.More

We had a nice dinner here. The sliders were tasty. The shrimp risotto was delicious with lots of large shrimp and a large portion. I had a Kale salad with Salmon. There was a little hitch (they initially forgot the salmon), but the manager (owner?)...took care of it and when it came, the salmon was delicious. It’s a great location, one block off Main Street, with plenty of parking across the street.More

Their menu was interesting and we were very pleased with what we ordered. They have Keno there. While we didn't win much, it was a fun distraction. The service was very good.

My wife and I tried Portside for the forst time, based on tips from friends. We sat at their really nice bar, and ate there as well. Wow, their main TV is like 12 feet diagonal; huge! Decent beer selection, but not great. The bartender,...who was of course our server, was a little confrontational, OK, as I guess I can be sometimes as well, but was nice most of the time. I ordered shrimp with risotto, which was a huge portion. The shrimp were cooked correctly, as was the rice; very nice dish. We also met a number of nice people to chat with at the bar, which is important.More

Not sure why it took us so long to discover this place but I'm glad we did. We would have preferred to sit outside but unfortunately it was a cloudy drizzly kind of day. We wanted a small lunch and the menu offered enough selections...to accommodate that. We decided to have some Clam Chowder, Oysters Casino and the Mezze plate that I really loved. Everything was well prepared and we liked each selection.More

I vent there at lunch time with the excitement, wanted to try their lobster bisque. Tried in many different places and fall in love with the soup. The place is very nice, big and spacious. Outside part is also nice and comfortable if it’s not...hot. So I received a bowl and the color was just not quiet right. It was enough of lobster meet, but the Taste was very plain, like you buy a veggie broth in a container in the store. I think they forgot to put cream in. Also the soup was very liquidy, not creamy at all, so I was not enjoying my meal.More

With the upsurge in Covid cases in the US and even the Cape my family (with a 9 year-old who couldn't be vaccinated) ... 8 of us in all ... needed a restaurant that had outside dining on a warm, cloudy afternoon. We appreciated the...open, comfortable dining area offered by the Portside Tavern. Our server was friendly and got our orders straight. Opinions on the food varied a bit from one family member to the other. So, I'll give you my personal comments and then choose star ratings from 1 - 5 for the dishes received by others. Me: • I ordered a small Wedge Salad. It was very generous in size with a nice, tart dressing that had tasty chunks of blue cheese - Rating 5 ($7) I decided to try the bar pizza. I had it with just cheese and onions. This pizza was pretty disappointing. I have no idea why New England restaurants believe that for a pizza to be "done" the cheese has to be browned on the top. Where I've come from in New York or Florida we have a name for a pizza like this; burned. Maybe the owners will try to make a pizza where the cheese is just melted on the top. It actually is very tasty and kind of stringy when you eat it. - Rating 2 ($9 + $1 for the onions.) Dishes for other family members: • Kid's Fish & Chips - Rating 4 ($8) • Adult Fish & Chips (Cod) - Rating 4 ($24.00) • Heirloom Tomato Pizza - Rating by a teen grandchild 4 ($14) • Marinated Heirloom Tomato Rating 4 ($14) • Veggie Wrap - Rating 3 ($13) • Macaroni & Cheese - Rating 5 ($15) We found prices at Portside to be very reasonable for the bar food menu they serve. Given traffic on the adjacent street (even one garbage truck that passed by, leaving behind its unique odor) we can't say that the ambiance is great. But, with indoor dining is becoming more dangerous I'd give Portside Tavern my approval, especially given the lack of a large amount of outdoor dining in the nearby restaurants on Main Street.More

Very disappointed. We are frequent customers and wanted a late dinner on July 5. Kitchen is usually open to 10, but at 8:50 we were told they were closing at 9, because they had had a busy day. Ended up having to scramble for dinner...elsewhere. Customers rely on opening hours. Changing them arbitrarily can hurt business.More

I actually gave the restaurant a three, not a one. That was because I felt the food was just OK, along with having one dish sent back and one that just wasn't very good.
