Honestly, I have passed by the Tavern on Washington Street almost every day for the past six years without knowing its presence. The building is behind other buildings and looks like a big family house with a barn. It doesn't have a big entrance with wide driveway nor a very conspicuous signage. I don't know its existence until my wife's... More

My family frequent this restaurant often. I love the option of the Bar or Dining Room. both have great food and good service. On Sundays there is a brunch menu. My husband favors the Seared $10K Tuna. I'm not a tuna fan but everyone raves about it. Both the dining room and Pub area have great seating. Make a reservation... More

We usually skip the main dinning room and had to the bar area to enjoy a drink, oysters and lobster bake pizza which is excellent. It does get crowded so arrive early as the bar seating is first come first seated.

The location of the Scarlet Oak Tavern has been the home to numerous restaurants over the years. We visited this restaurant prior to attending a show at the South Shore Music Circus. I had a pan fried piece of haddock served on top of a corn chowder. It was yummy. I do mean Yummy!!! The portion was appropriately sized but... More

Was not impressed with food, overpriced for what you got. Server was gracious and attentive. Was glad I tried it but won't go ack.

The Scarlet Oak Tavern never seems to disappoint. Food, service, and ambience are well above the norm, and the menu is varied. You can find something for any level of appetite. Everyone in my party was happy after our dinner yesterday. The crab cake appetizer was particularly noteworthy, but the same could be said for just about everything we had.

The menu is big, affordable and the food is great. The bar is large and friendly . The location is very accessible. The atmosphere is fun at the bar and private/romantic in the dining room.

The Scarlet Oak is located in an antique colonial structure conveniently at the junction of Routes 228 and 53 in Hingham, MA - just a couple of minutes from Route 3. The sharp looking black and white tablecloths gave a modern clean feel to the colonial traditional ambiance. The food was delicious. A bread basket included fresh crusty sourdough bread... More

Had the lobster risotto and my friend had "pretty in pink" cocktail. The food, service and atmosphere are great all year round.
