Heading to the Museum of Print, I stopped by the China King Super Buffet for a Saturday lunch out treat. The buffet was $8.99. Many of the choices were items I’d never seen before on any Chinese buffet. I would call them signature items. They included Vegetable Bread, Cheese Spinach, Butter Seafood, Stuffed Clams, Cheese Crab, Egg Tarts, and Apple Pie in strudel form. Conventional items that I sampled included Teriyaki Chicken, Spring Roll, Stuffed Mushroom, General Tso’s Chicken, Shrimp in Lobster Sauce, Crab Rangoons, Chicken Nuggets, French Fries, Bourbon Chicken, Chicken with Vegetables, Sesame Chicken, cut fruit, and wide fried noodles like the Mee Tu Chinese Noodles. Other items, which I didn’t sample, that looked good included the little Chinese Fried Doughnuts, Chop Suey, Egg Foo Yung, and Shrimp with Vegetables as well as several varieties of noodles and rice. There were a number of additional dishes as well. Desserts included several varieties of ice cream, small cake squares with chocolate mousse on top, small macaroons, puddings, and more. Another surprise item was the Sweet Peanuts, peanuts with a white sugary coating. My favorite items were the Vegetable Bread, Cheese Spinach, and Crab Rangoons. The Vegetable Bread was like small square pillows of bread with a vegetable filling. The Cheese Spinach was a spinach casserole with a lot of cheese. The Crab Rangoons were larger than average. They were in a triangle shape and had a lot of that delicious gooey filling that goes into them. I also liked the Egg Tart. There were certainly enough items on the six serving stations for anyone to make a meal there. Sushi was also available. I enjoyed my lunch. I thought the food was well-prepared. Service was good. The place was clean. A couple at a nearby table shared the largest scorpion bowl cocktail I’d ever seen. Other parties included families with children in the age range of 9 to 12. All the children ventured beyond the Chicken Tenders and French Fries in their food choices. I could see the bar area from my table. There were several TV’s showing different programming. The one closest to me had the movie “Good Burger” starring Keenan Thompson, Kel Mitchell, and Sinbad. I loved the sports car scene in which Thompson damaged his mother’s sports car and the sports car of his teacher, Mr. Wheat, played by Sinbad. I rate my experience at China King Super Buffet at 4.0. I will definitely eat there again. If you found this review helpful, please click THANK below.

The variety of food was good. Quality was okay not outstanding but respectable. Atmosphere was okay. I would consider going back if I was in the area

This Chinese Buffet offers the diner a nice, clean environment to eat in. It's bright and cheery around the tables with a huge colorful light fixture over the buffet tables. Signs are posted near the tables advising diners that the house would appreciate them not eating around the tables as they plate their food. (I like that! It's too bad the owners have to tell people who don't know how to act when they go out to eat to observe this usually unspoken rule but; as a patron of this eatery, I'm glad they do.) Also, posted: the owners politely tell people not to waste food in order for them to keep their prices down. The price of the buffet for lunch during the week, including a soft drink (or $.50 for a cup of tea--this is something that has just recently been advertised, it used to be free) runs around $9-$10 per person. Don't forget to tip the waitress/waiters; but, keep in mind that this is not a sit-down and get-waited on dinner. It is a buffet, which means it is not fine-dining. I usually overtip; but, most people seem to leave $1 for each member in their dining party. So, with that being said, Tina--the owner--will usually greet you with her cordial smile. She is a fanatic about keeping her dining room and the buffet tables clean. The food is usually piping hot. There is a large selection of chinese food to pick from, with some of that being American Fare. My only complaint here has to do with the Fried Rice & Lo Mein--like every other chinese restaurant that serves these two staple menu items--they lack the original tastiness of how rice and lo mein used to be made back in the "good old days" of authentic chinese food when it first came to the states. This is not a personal vendetta against The China King Super Buffet. It is just following the trend out there to make what should be signature items on a chinese menu into rice and lo mein like everyone else is serving on buffets and combination plates. These items are made as cheaply as possible. Why? My theory is that most people will partake from these two items first since they are the most common items on a chinese menu. Anyway, like I said, it's nothing personal or just common to the China King Super Buffet. . .unless Fried Rice and Lo Mein are ordered off the menu, it won't be the old-school fried rice and lo mein that we used to be served on all plates--whether they were luncheon specials or off the menu back in the day. So, here's the rest of my review. Since I don't like the rice and lo mein, I serve myself up some nice white sticky rice or the beansprout salad (very good). I like the rice alongside the chicken broccoli and mushroom, which has a nice flavor to it. There are several other nice dishes to select from like the pepper steak and other similar items. I am allergic to shrimp; but my dining companions have taken shrimp and seafood dishes and attested to their goodness. Sushi is served at the rear of the Buffet Tables. I don't eat raw fish; but, I do see people eating this here all the time. They seem to enjoy it. Also, not on my food radar is octopus and other fish that always looks fresh. Just because I don't eat this kind of food, doesn't mean it's not good. It's just not my kind of food. The eggrolls and springrolls are very good, especially with duck sauce and hot mustard! The crab rangoon sis delicious. There are so many choices to pick from that I can't list all of them. I happen to like sweet & sour chickenf--so I get a little creative and plate my own. I take some chicken fingers, sweet & sour sauce, and pineapples from the salad & dessert buffet. Delicious! Just giving you some ideas. If someone in your party does not eat chinese food, there is enough American Fare to round out a meal. Lots of appetizer-type dishes--both Chinese and American. And, don't forget to save room for dessert. There's lots of that to pick from, too. I, personally, like the Banana Pudding with the Cream. By adding a few fresh bananas to this, it takes just like Banana Cream Pie without the crust. Yummy! And, of course,if you are full and just want the typical chinese dessert, you can dish yourself up some pineapple chunks. (Why is it that these always taste better in a Chinese Restaurant than when we buy them at the supermarket? They taste like they are in a sweetened juice.) If someone just wants a scoop of ice cream, that's available as well. There is plenty of free parking. It's located right off of Rt. 495 (near Plaistow and Haverhill exit #125). I recommend lunch in this review. That's when I typically dine there. If you go at night, there might be extra specialty dishes, so it will cost you more than $7.99 (luncheon prices). The price is $11.99 for Dinner and $12.99 for Friday, Saturday, & Major Holidays. There is a 10% senior citizen discount for those over 65 years of age. Discounted luncheon pricing for children runs from $3.99/$5.99 depending on age upward to dinner pricing of $4.99/$6.99 and Weekend Buffet of $5.99/$8.99. If you don't want the buffet, you can order off the menu. You can also make up plates to go. The charge for this is lunch @ $4.99/lb; Dinner $5.99/lb; and Beef, Sushi & Seafood @ $8.99/lb. If you like a cocktail with your meal, wine, beer & cocktails are served. China King Super Buffet is available for large parties up to 70 people who can be served in a private room. I highly recommend China King Super Buffet. I frequent it at least once a month. There should be a few dishes offered that will catch your eye and satisfy your appetite as well.

Just found this buffet a couple of months ago, We like the variety of a buffet, used to go to Red Apple in Concord NH on the way to lakes region..it was very good but they closed. Until finding this Super Buffet, which we like better all around, except for 1 dish they do not have..we only had some-what local Chinese buffet options that we never liked. Searched out and found this place.. Well we now travel about 50 min. each way.. The food is very good, of course everyone has different tastes..The food for the most part is always warm..maybe a cool top piece of chix occasionally..dig deep and rotate the stock : ) People seem very friendly and the table is cleared quickly between trips to the buffet. The crab ran goons, teriyaki beef & chix are a 10 ! , though the 1st go to is the cheese spinach !! Rick STL

Good time and food! Many choices and we also had a large take out order. On a low fat diet, so was able to eat steamed foods and sushi. Many choices.

Hadn't been here for probably 10 years - decided to give it a try again. They do have a good variety, and the chaffing dishes are shallow so they are refilled frequently. But the flavor of the food was bland, and the meat was chewy. Sushi was made fresh but was your generic low-end sushi. Ice cream options were the highlight for me. We won't be rushing back.

Place is clean and food is kept up. Best part is the cut fruit. Out of the 50 dishes maybe 3 stood out. The rest is not even good. Sorry

Their verily is so different than most buffet. You definitely have to go back at least twice. Then it's time for dessert and that is so delicious.

After repeatly seeing ads/coupons, we decided to give China King a try. While there is nothing really wrong, we ccertainly couldn't call it super. Same typical chinese buffet dishes but we found everything to be surprisingly bland. It is almost as if they used no spices whatsoever. The general tsao had no "bite" at all. I found the ragoons to be extremely greasy. The cheesetopped spinach casserole however was surprisingly tasty. They do get kudos for having real ice cream (8 flavors) rather than the imitation softserve typically included in this type of meal

Uninspired really sums up my whole experience. Upon arrival they were experiencing a flood of fishy water from the fish tank near then entrance, we had to wade through this mess to get into the restaurant, meanwhile no staff in sight. There was also a filthy trash barrel full of water sitting there, first impression was kinda gross. Having never been there, we didn't know what to do and with no staff or host around several awkward minutes passed with us standing around. Once seated we were a little put off by the rude sign posted above our table, "Don't waste food". Maybe food waste wouldn't be a problem if the actual food was of a better quality; my Wife nearly broke a tooth on an aging crab Rangoon. The staffer that brought our silverware didn't make any contact, distracted and looking away when she dropped bent silverware on the table (I had to straighten my fork before eating). To their credit the did offer to refill my Wife's soda but neglected to offer to refill mine. The plates on the buffet were chipped and had seen hard use and better days. The food selection was somewhat limited, the only fried rice available was vegetarian, while other things were hit or miss. I had one chicken teriyaki that was great and the next was dry and hard and the same with the steak teriyaki. Desert cakes were dry/stale, ice cream was good despite the dirty freezer chest needed a defrost and deep cleaning. I found out later a family member has a gift certificate for this place so we will use it up and give them a second chance, otherwise we wouldn't bother to go back. As it is I'd rather not. Please note I don't usually tank restaurants in my reviews, it has to be a crappy experience for me to review this way. I tend to look for the best in people and places. We walked away from here far less than impressed.

its what you expect for a buffet but with a little bit more choices. great for kids as they always have chicken fingers and fries and they always fill your soda up fast. I really like there items that you wouldn't usually expect to be there, like the "french steak" (its an amazing roast beef! ), spinikopita (a spinach puff pastry), and sushi (its in the back, just make sure it hasn't been sitting there, they will make it fresh for you. I've only had a one time issue but they made it fresh for me when i said something). I've been living in haverhill for 3 years and this is the place to go for not alot of money and when your craving chinese. I can say that it is very clean, which can be a hit or miss at some other chinese places ive been to . Overall, a great place.

I enjoy a really good Chinese buffet. This is an okay buffet. They have a decent selection of items with several steam tables. Individuals and families will like it and I suggest you at least give it a try.

For very good quality (albeit standard Chinese buffet) food without spending a lot, come here (this location, not the others). They have all the staple Chinese buffet dishes and American food for the picky eaters; however, they do mix things up with a few different offerings that we've always enjoyed when we try them. We've never tried the salad bar because we generally dive right into the Chinese food, but I will say that the stuff on the salad bar always looks nice and fresh. Soups are very good, I always enjoy taking some sushi, and I would suggest trying their bourbon chicken. The dessert bar has the standard items, plus the bananas with the red sauce (my favorite) and the candy coated peanuts, so yummy. Servers are succinct and to the point, but polite. They do have a bar if you would like an adult beverage. The place is always clean, and relatively quiet even given that there are often families with young children there. Overall, a great place.
