This place is a treasure. The cheeses are many and varied, including interesting goat and sheep varieties. There is also an eclectic range of gourmet items such as Italian honey that names not just the flora involved (Chestnut honey, anyone?) but the beekeeper.

Stopped in to buy a baked brie for a family gathering. When I asked, the manager was aghast. You would have thought I defected on the floor. "You'll have to go to a chain grocery store to find that," he sniffed. Glad they made it clear. I'll never shop here again.

So many perfectly ripe cheeses. Staff was generous with offering tastes. Good chocolate and coffees too. But baguettes they sell are more Italian than French. Take out only. Some salads, but mostly just cheese.

Rubiner's has a good selection of cheeses; they allow you to have samples before buying; some of the cheese infers really know their stuff, others seem to be winging it, and the service sometimes seems grudging and surly. However, these points are mostly ignorable because: CHEESE!

Love this place! Amazing range of cheese, fresh perfect baguettes, interesting condiments, helpful staff. Tremendous variety! Go on a Saturday, hit the farmer's market across the street for fresh vegetables and homemade pie, buy a bottle of wine from the store a few doors down, and you have a perfect feast for Tanglewood, the front porch of your B+B, or... If you love cheese, this is the place to visit! Cheeses and hard salami galore! Free samples too! Very informative cheesemongers, I was searching for a cheese similar to a provolone for a recipe and the salesperson was eager to find me the right cheese - it was perfect! Plus we got to try something new and different!

The thing that attracted us at first was the building itself. It looked like an old bank. I'm so happy we stumbled across this cheese shop. Not only do they have free cheese samples to try, but they are all amazing! I wish I lived closer, I would come here all the time to buy cheese. The staff are all... More

Matt Rubbiner is unusually knowledgable about the great cheeses of the world, having come from the famous Fromagio's in Boston before coming to the Berkshires. He has an excellent array of cheeses and will let you sample as you select. The cheeses are pricey, however, so remember you are paying for quality. The store also has other goodies-- condiments, sea... More
