My husband and I went for breakfast, after many years of this diner being on my list. I had a gigantic breakfast of 2 eggs over medium, homefries, bacon and 2 pieces of french toast. I traded my homefries for my husband's side of homemade baked beans. The beans were yummy with lots of flavor and diced meat, likely salt pork but maybe just ham. Homefries were nice; potatoes nice and soft, but still holding their shape, lots of spices--very flavorful. My eggs were good and the french toast was delicious. Typical syrup, but I'm not a syrup snob, so it was fine for me.
My husband's scrambled eggs were overcooked for him (he likes them a little moist), and his hash was too crispy. So, he wasn't happy with his breakfast. If we ever go back, I'd get the French toast. Atmosphere was typical diner. Wait staff was busy but nice, and the coffee was good typical diner coffee.

So I was there last Saturday. I can recall the restaurant as it was back in or around 2015; Great burgers, and a Bloody Mary to die for.
If I am not mistaken. There was a major shift in buisness model.
To begin, let's not take away from the food and service I received from my waiter, was prompt and friendly, wore his mask, and considering the nearness to closing we arrived at he treated us great.
My meatloaf was quite good, and no complaints on the provided mashed potatoes and buttery carrots. No issues there.
The problem was, when push comes to shove, there were items I really wish were still there.
Biggest problem was it seems as if the location lost its liquor license, and typically if a place is offering a breakfast menu, especially a DINER menu, you'd think the bloody would still be a part of it. No mention if it's existence anywhere.
In addition, it saddens me none of the burgers survived the new management. They in particular had a burger featuring a soft fried egg on it that was my introduction to eggs on burgers and had really hoped to replicate the experience.
I suppose some of this might relate to Covid 19, and if that is the case and management reaches out to me I will gladly rescind and once again fully recommend this beautiful Diner, but honestly at this moment, unless you need a cheap, but good bite to eat, I left this time feeling nothing special.

Fall River has a bunch of great, mom and pop local restaurants. This, unfortunately, isn’t one of them. It’s a beautiful old diner, and my grandson and I wanted a quick lunch, so we figured we’d give it a try. We should have gone elsewhere to one of local Portuguese places. We ordered a hamburger and a grilled cheese. That’s it; very basic. It took 48 minutes for us to get our food: two paltry sandwiches and a few fries. Not enough help, apparently. The waitress was fairly pleasant, but a bit too busy to pay us any attention. The hamburger was nice and fresh. The grilled cheese was... a grilled cheese. The French fries were from the freezer, kind of soggy and lukewarm. They don’t really offer dessert (a diner without pie, in a city which seems to have a bakery on every street!). Given all the cheap options in the area, I’m afraid we won’t be back. Sorry.

Decided to stop in for breakfast today. It did not start out good from the parking lot until we left. Seeing a older gentleman standing at the counter without a mask on speaking to the cook about 5ft away from him while cooking on the grill with her mask just covering her mouth with no gloves on. We were told we could sit anywhere, The waitress handed us a paper menu that you just knew was being used by many people .When we finished ordering the waitress took the menu and put it back at the workstation. She did not throw it away. A employee came in and threw her jacket and pocketbook on the counter she did not have a mask on ,she then walked over to the grill and spoke to the cook Said loudly she needed to put her mask on. A customer came in and sat the counter. I asked for a glass of water. The waitress brought the water over to my table with the straw in the glass with no paper on the straw. Now I am so uncomfortable about my surroundings I cannot wait to leave.I am waiting for our waitress for the check, she is sitting at the counter without any gloves on taking the silverware from a container wiping each piece in her ungloved hand and putting them in a holder using the same paper napkin over and over again. I just cannot believe not one safety step was being followed at the short time I was there. Now i am concerned for myself and family hoping I did not pick up this deadly virus.

Went in for breakfast today and was very uncomfortable. Servers were not wearing gloves. Person cooking on the grill had her mask on her chin while cooking. Server had her mask on only covering her mouth. We won’t be back it’s not worth the health risk.

We were just driving around searching for a place to eat lunch and happened upon the diner. I’m so glad!! The food and service were both fantastic. We had a burger and a Reuben and split them and both were delicious. If we come back through, we will definitely stop again.

Very poor customer service, the pancakes weren't done, and unfriendly cashier. I'm beginning to get alittle suspicious of the reason for the type of service I recieve, as this is the 3rd time that I've personally experienced poor customer service.

Arrived at 8 a.m. on a Sunday morning and the place was not busy. We waited 30 minutes and not one server approached out table. We left and went to Dunkin Donuts. We will never return to this restaurant. Not a good way to do business.

Service was painfully slow. It took almost 60 minutes to get a simple burger.
Server took 20 minutes just to get a menu and a glass of water
Ordered something simple - cheeseburger which took another 40 minutes to get the food , which was after most of the dining patrons had paid and left
We stayed because there was constant reassurance from the wait staff that the food was looking good and should be out very soon. This was repeated every -10 minutes, we were served served our food after the 3rd iteration of the reassurance
The food was average, but not worth that kind of wait

Wanted some breakfast Monday 11/19/2018 before heading back to the Berkshires.Jill was our waitress. She was the only waitress. She was outstanding! Very friendly not to mention gorgeous. Food took a little long to come considering it was not too busy.I had my normal eggs benedict and my wife had pecan pancakes. Both were very good. I like how the owner came around and talked briefly with the customers. I would return every time I am in Fall River.

Hadn't been In a long time. Now I know why. If you're a fan of mediocre food and lousy service this is the place for you. Also they might want to clean up a little. Probably won't be back.

My mom, dad, wife and I went to a nice plat at the Firehouse Theatre situated at the top of President Ave. I remembered that Al Mac's Diner was at the bottom of the hill AND that it was open! (Their hours are 6:00 AM to 4:00 AM I think!!) You have to talk with Susan if the place isn't too busy. She is the co-owner and Jack of all trades at Al Mac's.
(We had the opportunity to speak with her at length because we were there late and she is a wonderful good-hearted human being.) I ordered an egg special with chourico and toast. I asked for one egg, the owner sent two! Nice touch! My wife had the corned-beef omelet and it was very good. My mom just had a short stack of pancakes. They were not cooked as well as my mom likes, but Susan took the plate back and returned with a new order. Dad just had an order of chourico and sweet bread toast. The cooking was fine, but the chourico wasn't what he remembered. I read a couple of comments about cleanliness. Al Mac's is an old, historic diner. It is old but clean. My mom actually commented about how clean the bathrooms were. Oh, yeah. The portions were big and a good value. Check the place out and try to talk with Susan!

Stopped in for a quick bite with my husband and daughter. Our waitress was great, the food, awful. We ordered milkshakes, and our waitress started making them. We overheard the owner talking to her like she was an idiot. That unfortunately left a bad taste in our mouths. We’ve been here quite a few times, but this will be our last. Hopefully they’ll shut down, and get better owners. The owner ( Sue) is extremely rude. We left our waitress a generous tip for having to deal with her. Awful woman! Get some social skills. You’re clearly in the wrong business.
