We had a family luncheon, 10, which exceeded everyone's expectations. Many had the brunch menu, lobster cakes, scallop linguini, shrimp salad and everything in between. Wait staff very accommodating and nice. . Breads excellent to stave off hunger wile waiting. Food came hot for everyone, not easy when cooking ten different meals to come out at once. Raves for the... More

First time at this restaurant after finding it on TA. We both had mussels as an appetizer and seafood cannelloni as the main course. Very nice and enjoyable meal.

The venue is outstanding (country inn atmosphere) hostess was engaging and welcoming as was our server. Service was excellent, we felt like guests not customers. Our lunch was hearty, plentiful and delicious. If you’re in the area and looking for a great place to relax and enjoy a great meal this is the place to go.

Steak au poivre and lobster mac & cheese, fried oysters (buttery), caprese salad (basil and CAPERS). I don't have to describe what goes into each of these dishes, but I can tell you that each was DELICIOUS, prepared exactly right. The seats were comfortable--the bolsters in our booth were, remarkably, positioned in exactly the right place to be very comfortable... More

Stopped for lunch after a friend recommended it as a change from our usual Essex stops. Very pleasantly surprised! We both had Haddock, one breaded and the other lemon basil. Both were excellent with portions larger than expected for lunch. Our server was very friendly and attentive to our needs. Looking forward to going back and trying the seafood platter.... More

Decided to try after positive reviews from friends. Terrific baked haddock and shrimp scampi. Steak fries were outstanding as promised. Friendly efficient service. Can't wait to go back.

We left Gloucester for a different view and other options and found Essex. What a great town with great food options. We picked Windward from a recommendation from diners in Sweet Magnolia's in Gloucester and were not disappointed. The Vanilla Martini's were perfect and set the mood for a great dinner. Steamed lobsta and Haddock prioved to be a great... More

Been there several times under old name not sure when change occurred. Wonderful old farm house. Great service even though busy Sunday evening. Seafood is excellent. Well prepared and good portions. Prices are good for the setting and quality of food.

I was cranky that my friend dragged me all the way up to Essex to eat here, but as soon as I took the first bite of my haddock marsala, my irritation was replaced with euphoria. I understand that the Windward specializes in haddock. Well, the haddock marsala was probably the best fish I've had in quite a long time,... More

During recent visit dinned at this wonderful establishment. Called ahead, thank goodness, for a party of 4. Had to wait about 10 mins. But it was worth it. The atmosphere wonderful for intimate conversation, the waitress staff very attentive and the food very good. The use of local catch and fresh produce. This is a must with my next visit.
