Great food fabulous view

Restaurant is not much inside but the food is fabulous and the view of the salt marsh is spectacular. Took advice and stuck with clams and fish tacos. Fish tacos were very different and terrific.

Not fancy and cash only, but Farnham's delivers excellent New England seafood. Fried clams, baked or fried scallops, shrimp, lobster. Corn, coleslaw and generous portions of fries. Lines are usually long and you have to be quick to spot a table. There's outdoor seating and Farnham's is dog friendly. It also has an excellent view of the salt marshes/water.

I remember many years ago a Sunday drive in the 50's in my grandfather's 1940's Packard would include a mandatory stop at Farnham's for the fried clams with a followup further down the road for an ice cream at the junction. I was a picky kid with limited tastes, hated lobster, loved clams. Woodman's was a little more further on... More

Farnhams is a classic clam shack with great views. Don't go for haute cuisine, go for excelllent seafood and you won't be disappointed. The fried clams with bellies and the fried clam strips are as good as you'll find in Essex and on a par with Woodman's. The shack is small with limited seating, and there isn't a lot of... More

Came here on recommendation from a local that it is more authentic and less touristy than other places. That it is! The view is fantastic, the beer was cold, the clams were hot and fresh, the lobster roll tasty, and the chowder was out of this world. I could have traveled home after this meal and feel like I had... More

A walk up and order place. The clams are supposed to be the highlight item there. We had a mixed seafood box and a fried clam cup. Both were too greasy for our tastes. Yet, the french fries were done well. Tried it and don't need to go back.

Stopped here because The Clam Box, Ipswich and The Village Inn were too busy looking. The clams were just okay and rather pricey compared to other places. Next time we will stand in line at The Clam Box. Th views from Farnham's are great but you can't eat the view.

The fried clams and all their seafood are very good. The self serve ice water is a real treat too. Be prepared to wait in a long line outside at peak times in the summer season and parking may be a problem too. Although I am a big fan of J.T. Farnham's, their clam chowder is surprisingly and consistently disappointing... More

While perhaps not as well known as the Clam Box in Ipswich or Woodman's just down the road from it in Essex, J.T. Farnham's is a worthy choice for those seeking the succulent fried clam. While it doesn't look like much and is closed during the winter months, the restaurant does an excellent job of preparing fried seafood, lobster rolls,... More

We have been coming here for years. We like the low key ambiance - local, unpretentious, not in Woodman's shadow. Great food, fairly priced. Wonderful to sit outside by the salt flats.
