Lunch was delicious shrimp taco's, New England clam chowder and oysters. Nice view and wait staff! Sits on the Essex river so fun to water the waterway.

Overall this restaurant is one of my favorites in Essex , Ma. Wait staff is attentive , and accommodating. Food quality is excellent. Fried clams are the best in Essex. Other seafood dishes are fresh and expertly prepared

For lunch, we had clam chowder and Cesar salad, both very good. Also for dessert, a very good pie with ice cream. We sat by the window that overlooks the marshes and it was fun to watch the coming and going sailing boats. Prices were reasonable. This restaurant also serves as a gallery and it was nice to see the... More

Great clam chowder here always. You may find chowder as good but you won't find better. Check it out

We have been here several times this summer. Fired clams are the best. Very sweet. Their fish tacos are also excellent. Wait staff is attentive and very efficient. Ignore any less than excellent reviews as this place is worth the money and your time.

The view saved it from being a 1 star review. The food was subpar and the service wasn't much better as our waitress was non-existent and another one was very rude to the table next to us. At one point she told the table who was asking questions about the menu that "your not ready, I have to go check... More

The hostess was not nice at all - looked like she couldn't be bothered to seat us. The majority of the clientele was made up of old salts who only want flounder sandwiches. They tried to improve the menu, but the outcome was so-so. There are many other restaurants on the North Shore that are much better than this one.

Lovely location, water views from most of the tables. Salads are fresh and large enough to split. We've been here several times and usually order a baked or broiled fish dinner, however we decided to try their fried fisherman platter. Their batter is very light and the shrimp, scallops and clams were crispy and very flavorful. We've tried a lot... More

We meandered into this establishment after a day at Cranes Beach. The beer was super cold and we tried the 3 different oysters. They were fresh and delicious! I love a little horseradish and a tangy red sauce on top. The bartender was a local gal who was friendly and accommodating. We plan on trying the food next time.

It is hard to get excited about a small sandwich shop...but not this one. Periwinkles is the best! They have wonderful, large sandwiches, and great customer service. My favorite is the tuna salad.
