Highly recommended!! Fresh, homemade ice cream. Definitely make your way down there but beware that sometimes there is a line (that's going to happen when you serve heaven in a cone).

Stopped in with friends. There was a line but it moved quickly. I had an ice cream flavored with walnuts and maple syrup - more like nuts surrounded by ice cream. It was fantastic. Each of us had something different and they were all wonderful. They have the regular stuff which I am sure is great but their innovative flavors... More

This little ice cream joint is at two locations, one in Essex and one on Route one in Rowley. One of my biggest gripes in life is that they're are simply not enough outstanding ice cream places. But there is Downriver. Their ice cream is so rich and flavorful. Incredibly creamy and sweet. There tons of varieties to choose from,... More

We ordered our ice cream and a doggie ice cream too. She was so excited when we walked up to the truck with her ice cream and cookies....Maggie was a very happy girl.

I highly recommend this place. I had the most delicious flavor! Willy WOnka loaded with CANDY Yummy what is better than vanilla ice cream and chunks of delicious candy? Nothing! It was outstanding. I also had chocolate chip and my husband had the vanilla. He only eats vanilla and love his. I had wanted the mint chocolate chip but they... More

Best in the area (or most other areas!), in our view . High quality, generous servings of "traditional" to really funky flavour combinations. Nice lawn with chairs to sit on while you enjoy. Friendly welcoming service. Great spot--highly recommended.

The ice cream here is fantastic! Totally worth the 20 minute drive there to sit and relax. Portions are HUGE and you can tell they make the ice cream themselves with fresh fruit. One of my favorite places on the summer for a refreshing treat.

We stumbled upon the Rowley Down River Ice Cream on Route One and thought the flavors were cool and interesting so we tried a bunch. Tree sap (maple with walnuts), Black Raspberry, Olivia's Chocolate Dream (really good choolate), Hog Island (choc with brownies and fudge), Almond Joy (coconut with almonds and chocolate pieces) Butter Pecan. OMG they were all SOOOOOOO... More
