Superb French

This is one of the best dining experiences I have had in many years! The Terrace is a charming airy restaurant in the elegant Charlotte Inn. Cocktails and wine are served in crystal goblets; the fine china is French and the wait staff discrete. Best of all is Chef Patrice Martineau's classic french cuisine - from Champagne - is superb. I had the most delicate vichyssoise something I rarely ordered except in France. The best! A halibut was perfectly seasoned and an Ile Flottante was ethereal. Can't say enough. I lived in France for years and love cooking - you won't be disappointed.

Amazing!

Dinner at The Terrace was extraordinary. The setting is absolutely gorgeous. The attention to detail and fine antiques create a warm and inviting ambience. The wait staff is superb and the menu is incredible. Chef Patrice is truly a culinary artist and master. Each course was delectable. We celebrated our daughter's 20th birthday and they brought out a special (and delicious) dessert, complete with a delightful decoration for her. Everything was so tastefully done. This is (by far) the most amazing restaurant on the island and it is fine dining at its best. I highly recommend it. And, if you need accommodations on island, I highly recommend staying at the Charlotte Inn. The Conovers are experts in making each guest feel welcome. The Terrace and the Charlotte Inn are very special.

Exceptional!! A superb fine dining experience. Faultless, friendly, attentive service; would recommend the scallops and the lobster washed down with a glass of champagne and followed by a chateau neuf de pape! Really enjoyable evening- thank you Alexander, Bianca and all who looked after us. X

Stay away on New Year's Eve, and perhaps other popular dates

This was the second time (Not my idea) that I came with a group of friends for a New Year's Eve dinner. This time the food was edible, although 5 of the 6 at our table passed on the soup. Overall, the atmosphere is warm and beautiful, but the food was average at best, the service was slow and the cost of this experience was excessive. There will not be a third visit to The Charlotte Inn!

Fabulous meal and exceptional service!

We had a fabulous dinner here during our recent trip to Martha's Vineyard - we were celebrating my birthday. All of our interactions with the restaurant (when making reservations etc) were professional and friendly. When we arrived, we felt as if we had traveled through time.... sheer elegance. Take a few minutes to look at the gallery before or after dinner. We dined on the Terrace (so outside) but it was elegant and we felt like we were contiguous with the restaurant. We splurged... on the caviar and the lobster special, and some nice wine. But we really felt special as well. A nice touch was a small cake they brought out for my birthday. Definitely recommend - the food and the service and the overall experience. Our only regret was that we did not choose to stay at the Charlotte Inn (and instead made a very unwise choice...) - I can only imagine how special it would be to stay at this quite unique and elegant place.

As always we love dining at this place that we can call our romantic evening dinner when in Edgartown that we also missed in September by not making early reservation.The food and services were excellent from start to end. It’s a must visit and highly recommended. See you again in 2021.

Wonderful dining experience!

Enjoyed a wonderful meal in a charming setting for my wife’s birthday. The scallop appetizer was amazing. My wife’s beef tenderloin was modified based on her preferences and perfectly cooked. My halibut was amazing. The service was attentive and excellent. This was truly an amazing dining experience. We will be back.

Definitely classy

Part of the Relais & Chateaux club, the Terrasse is classy. Not overseeing the sea, they have outside table in a cosy garden. Quiet with a nice service, dishes are well prepared. The only thing was that the lamb chops had a cheesy flavor that nobody understood from were that came 🤷‍♂️. The wine list is extensive with rather heavy prices. Overall we had a good time but regretted not to hv any sea view.

Best of the Vineyard

Went for dinner a few nights ago and was delighted with what can best be described as a dining experience. Ambiance and atmosphere first rate, elegant and subdued, service was professional and crisp, menu was thoughtful and well presented each dish was artfully presented and palate pleasing. I highly recommend and will certainly return.

Anniversary trip dinner

This is a lovely and Romantic experience. The sashimi was exceptional. My husband had the escargot. I ordered the halibut, and was thoroughly pleased. The flavors were well developed. My husband had the lobster a la patrice which he also enjoyed. I highly recommend this dining experience. The staff was attentive and very friendly.

Beautiful place, great food—depends on your comfort level

If you have concerns about COVID you should avoid The Terrace. No employees wear masks. And according to an August 26, 2021 story in The Vineyard Gazette four employees there tested positive. The restaurant closed temporarily to address this, but reopened without any mask precautions. It should be noted that this makes The Terrace restaurant at The Charlotte Inn unique in Martha’s Vineyard — most businesses on the island are taking COVID precautions. If this does not worry you, then you will find the food and atmosphere excellent at The Terrace. The cuisine and service is still top notch. It’s up to what makes you feel comfortable.

Our traditional Friday night celebration dinner

We are on the island for a week every year and this is our Friday night place before we leave on Saturday. It is a delightful indulgence. It is expensive, yes, but so, so elegant. It is a treat that we look forward to. The kitchen and the bartending are excellent. But the main thing, really, is the high end experience: the elegance of the room and the service. It is a pleasure that we cherish before we take the ferry back to reality the next day.

Beautiful Restauran with Exceptional Food

Absolutely beautiful restaurant with fantastic service and excellent food. We love going early and having one of their outstanding drinks in one of their living rooms. The food is always superb and the setting is so romantic. We always celebrate our anniversary here. Highly recommended.

Our last night on the island tradition

By far our favorite fine dining location on the island. We come here every year for our last dinner of the week we are on the Vineyard and are never disappointed. No exception this year. Perfectly medium rare lamb chops, a magnificent halibut, delicious peach melba, excellent old fashioned cocktail. Attentive service. Victorian style decor. This is expensive--it's a splurge--but the value of the experience you get makes it well worthwhile. They get filled--book ahead.
