Our one day outing started with Nantucket in the morning and Martha's Vineyard in the afternoon. The Hy-Line Ferry must have an agreement with the local restaurants because we could not schedule a reservation in Edgartown before 5:30, and the last ferry leaves Oak Bluffs at 6:45, effectively excluding "tourists" from the fine dining on the island. As an alternative, we stopped at the Atlantic Restaurant's outdoor dining area and simply ordered Champagne, Shawarma Tacos and the Small Bouquet. The latter is a cold combination seafood tower of shrimp, lobster and oysters. We enjoyed it thoroughly and made our ferry with time to spare.

Location, service, quality of food... We visited on a Wednesday afternoon but I can imagine it's difficult to get a table here any other time kr day of the week.
From the person that greeted us on the patio to the person who took care of us on the porch every memo of staff was well turned out, wearing their masks correctly and a delight.
Our server in particular, was very pleasant and present (without being too much). They were knowledgeable about the menu and also have honest - they steer us to a dessert we had both written off and weren't planning on but decided to trust them and were blown away.
We ordered the mussels, beet salad and shared an Au Gratin side. The beet salad was fabulous and I will be having that again before I leave. The Au Gratin was as cheesy, crispy and good as you should imagine and very rich indeed (one to share is more than enough. The mussels were fine, the broth they were in was lightly spiced and delicious.
Our server recommended a Nutella cheesecake, which I'll admit, we were not excited about but was ridiculously good. Again one to share is enough of this particular dish.
With multiple seating options (many of them outside and open air) it's hard to imagine this post could ever feel crowded but I am sure with food like this, it does get full.
Completely recommend and always trust your servicers- they know the menu but they also know how the food is coming out on that particular day (although I don't think Atlantic can have an off day)

We had so much fun at thus restaurant largely in part due to the excellent service provided by our server Sarah. She was as attentive and accommodating as she was witty and fun to talk with. Her recommendations were excellent and the food arrived prepared as requested. We’re picky about our steaks and she ensured us our steaks would meet and exceed expectation. Lot’s of fun food, great views and an excellent wine list.

Our dinner reservations were accepted, then we were told later by a friend that they don't take reservations. So we went early and when we got there the host who was very abrupt said they don't take them, but would seat us right now. We asked about having a drink before, but he ignored us and just pushed us to a table.
Our waiter took a while to come by and then we finally got some cocktails. We ordered oysters and the beet salad to start. When they brought the food they never came over with the utensils so we waited for 20 mins and then we had to flag our waiter. he was apologetic, but seemed distracted. The oysters $ 18 were skimpy and sloppy with broken shells in them. The beet salad $16 was supposed to come with pecans and I think they chopped one pecan and dribbled it on top.
We had to ask for our bread and when it came it was in a brown bag, stale and inedible. When we told the waiter he said that's the way it is now...what???
We ordered the Cod with some sort of sauce and it came with 3 mussels and a strange, hard as brick tomato, as a garnish? For $35. The lobster mac & cheese was not fully baked and soupy, although the flavor was good...at $29 its not worth the price.
We were so disappointed as we have been here for lunch many times and its always been great and this was our first and likely our last dinner here. Its pricey as most island restaurants, but clearly the service and the quality of the food is not worth it.

I have been going to the Atlantic for years. Last night was the most disappointing night I have had. We started with Martinis ($14 each) & an appetizer to split, the lamb tacos ,very tasty!
We were moved to a table beside the couch. ( had a reservation) We ordered the filet mignon(8 oz. 46.00 & a la carte)
Also wanted to try the pork shank. This huge brown deep fried piece of bone arrives. I cut into it & grease oozed out!
I wasn't sure what this was supposed to be! I asked the waitress why we weren't told it was deep fried. She said it wasn't, it was flash fried!!!! I asked for a manager & he said it was eaten too much, REALLY?I nicely showed him the hard chunks of dried meat, he did not care! We have reservations next week for 6 of us that will be cancelled! I have never been treated like that! Very rude manager ROBERT! I preceded to tell him that I live on the Island & frequent this Restaurant & have never complained before...very disappointed!

There are some really good points about this restaurant and some really bad. I will start with what impacted us the most, the manager at the front reception desk. In all of our years going to restaurants, we have never seen someone treat others so rudely. While very short with us, our issue was more how he treated others, not us. He was literally yelling at staff AND the customer who was seated before us. That kind of treatment is completely unacceptable and he obviously had no issue with others witnessing it. On that point alone, we will never return. In addition, we felt very rushed through the entire dinner. From the time we were seated until the time we left, we were there 1 hr and 15 minutes. This was despite the fact that we had two rounds of drinks, bread, appetizers, salads, entrees, dessert and coffee. Our appetizers arrived before our first round of drinks. They appeared about 2 minutes after we ordered them and we assumed they had the wrong table (they didn't). We were served each of the courses so quickly that we asked for some time before they brought dessert since we needed a break. Dessert showed up less than 5 minutes later. We felt like we were at TGIFs and they were in a hurry to turn the tables. Which I assume they were. Another poor spot was that the bread was stale. The drinks at $14 per were very small. They were good, but small.
There were some good points. The table we were at had a great view of the harbor. That was only true of tables that were around the edge. The food was for the most part decent. 3 of the 4 people in our party got seafood and they weren't too impressed. I enjoyed the short ribs, but not the appetizers.
After going, I now understand why I heard such mixed reviews. This restaurant is on the higher end, price-wise. Definitely not the experience we were hoping for, especially given the price. We will not return.

Food was terrible..,and only the menu was worse than the food…very limited Lunch menu, no native fish , which is swimming around their back door, no Fied clams, or a decent Lobster roll…do you really think people come to M.V. for a Hamburger….Can you believe messing up a lobster role…on the Cape or islands??
It was awful, very little lobster, the side was a small pile of greens that had no dressing on it, and a nothing but greens…It was also $21.00. …for a lobster role that has no sides, no lobster to speak of and an awful bun …or whatever it was called!
What a joke this place is…the reception area is run by managers who have no class or even understand what the hospitality business is about..many good restaurants around downtown….don’t waste your time coming to this place

I tried to have a drink and appetizer at Atlantic at 3:17 pm on Saturday July 25th
I was met by someone at the front named John, who later said he was a manager. We requested to be seated and John informed us that the kitchen closed at 4. I explained that we would just have a drink and he responded"The kitchen closes at 4" i said to him that we don't want anything from the kitchen and he responded." I said we were closed" I hung around the front for few minutes to see if John was responding to all potential customers in the same manner. He proceeded to let a white man, and 2 women in . I asked him, i thought you were closed. He said" why are you hangin around listening to what I'm saying"
This appeared to be an overt case of racism and the purpose of this review is to bring it to the Attention of ownership.
I was not going to let a racist like John put darkness on what had been a beautiful time day on the island.
My hope is that the ownership of the Atlantic does not condone such actions.

My first trip to Martha's vineyard ever. I wish I never went to this restaurant, because the service I received was so awful. First I asked to hear the beers on tap, there were only 2 or 3 and I didn't like them, so I asked to hear the beer options, when I chose, our waiter said that that was "easy peezy to order that" implying that I was being difficult. Then when he took our order, first i asked if I could order the fried artichokes, and he said " yeah sure why not". Then I ordered a burger. When the food arrived, there were no artichokes. I said "sir are my artichokes coming?" He says " oh sorry I forgot them" so I thought ok, not a problem I'm sure he will just put the order back into the kitchen for me but he didn't. He comes back around 5 minutes later and says a very rude comment "Hey how are the fried artichokes?" Laughing at the fact I never received my food that I wanted and he messed up on. So I replied " so we're you able to put the order of artichokes back into the kitchen?" He went to see if he could put the order back in, but by that time it was far too late, the kitchen had closed. He wasted too much time insulting me and giving bad service. He threw a few more small insults my way the rest of the night and I was not in a good mood. He tried to smooth a night of bad service over with some free lemoncello shots that were delicious, and I told my friends I wouldn't write a bad review because of it, but I was still mad the next day and decided to do it anyway. My friend tipped this waiter 100 dollars! just because the restaurant is fancy and his steak was great. A lot of people on this island, including my friend, throw tips around for no reason at all. This waiter deserved zero tip. This Atlantic restaurant needs to retrain the waiters here. I will tell everyone I know not to come here! Nothing worse than bad service at a high end restaurant. Go somewhere where you will be treated better like the ocean front restaurants on oak bluffs!

Totally pretentious and chuck full of a bunch of wanna be, upper crust striving posers. If you like to pretend to be someone and act like you are something than you will fit in just fine-
I would never return nor recommend this place as waitstaff was equally elite and inattentive to those not dressed in designer clothes and accessorized. Needless to say, my LLBean clothing and Apple Watch could not be more out of place.
The waitstaff nearly frowned when I ordered a coke and burger which was to be cooked medium. The burger arrived without the top of the bun and was overcooked. The food runner tried to pass off that I ordered a bun less burger- nice try!?!?!?
Again rather than sending it back I ate and then ordered a refill on my coke hoping the water glass being emptied would be noticed. As we completed our meal the waitress never asked about dessert as she already had the cover with the bill…guess people like me are not welcome. The staff was far my re interested in the Snookie look alike and her skinny friend….both dressed and had Rolex watches …it seemed far more important that they get the dessert and expresso.
News flash….the highlight of the experience was the cold French fries and I could not get out of there fast enough as clearly I do not embrace a $26.00 Cheeseburger nor the snotty attitude and judgement!!!

Rude and snotty
Our family, who has been coming to Martha’s Vineyard for nearly 25 years, went to have dinner at the Atlantic. This is something we have done for many, many summers.
Since renovating a number of years ago, the Atlantic has become increasingly snobbish and too precious. The food is fine, but it is not worth putting up with a staff that looks down their noses at nearly everyone who comes to the entrance unless you look like a wealthy couple.
When we said to the manager that it is unfortunate that we are leaving because of their poor service he said and I quote, “I never lose.” Who says that to a customer? It is just symbolic of their overall precious attitude.
This restaurant management and staff need to take lessons from Danny Myers. They certainly do not know how to treat people with decency and put the customer first.

While at the Harbor View, staff recommended the Atlantic for dinner. We are a family of 5 with ages 12-8, so we headed out on the early side for most folks arriving around 6pm. To our surprise, a table was available and we were seated on the deck overlooking the marina. What a wonderful surprise as we all enjoyed the views and activity on the dock. Service was good with quality recommendations and we were never waiting long for food or drinks. We tried the oysters, the angry shrimp, the burger, kids pasta and clam chowder - all were very tasty.

Not worth the expense. Waiter was knowledgeable but I don’t think the anchovy appetizer was that great, made it sound like it was a great thing if someone wanted an appetizer for main course. Caprese salad wasn’t great either. Ridiculous price for glasses of wine. I agree with previous reviewer re a see and be seen restaurant. Maybe I ordered the wrong thing?

This restaurant made us feel welcome and the food was fresh and to a high standard. Great service and COVID friendly. Clam chowder tasted homemade and the Lobster Croissant was one of the best ‘lobster rolls’ we had in New England.

We came across this restaurant as we wanted to grab a drink and seek some much needed shade. We were seated next to the pier with wonderful views. Our server was very pleasant. She asked if we wanted anything more. We told her that the drinks were fine for now. She then suggested that we should order an appetizer since the ones they have are great. I didn’t want to order one until she told me that they have blue crab cocktail. I asked her how is it. She told me it was amazing!! I couldn’t resist and I ordered that app. She was right! It was amazing!!!! I wish we could have eaten dinner here but we had to catch a ferry back. We will be back and we will have dinner soon here. Thank you!
