My family recently enjoyed an outdoor dinner at Sun Tavern. We were taking my elderly mother out to dinner for the first time since the pandemic began and asked if we could push two tables together so that we could remain somewhat distanced while eating...and they immediately accommodated our request. When I ordered my dinner, I chose the filet. I asked our waiter if the chef would be willing to make béarnaise sauce (which is not on the menu) because that’s how I enjoy eating filet, they gladly accommodated that request as well. Our waiter was very attentive and helpful and the food was excellent. We are longtime customers and have celebrated numerous special occasions at Sun Tavern over the years. I rarely write reviews but I felt this experience deserved one so if you’re looking for an excellent dinner in a very nice atmosphere where the owners/management and chef will go out of their way to make sure that you have the best (and in the current environment, safest) experience possible, then I highly recommend Sun Tavern.More

This is a favorite spot for me and my family. Always a great meal, terrific service, great specialty cocktails and amazing specials. Staff is friendly and accommodating. Menu is diverse, everything is really good, hard to choose because it is all so delicious. Save room...for dessert. Cool setting in old historic house ... lots of New England charm and character. Popular with the locals but worth the drive from anywhere.More

We joined two other couples for our traditional early dinner at 6 PM. We were seated promptly in the dining room near the bar. The waitress was prompt, and at first seemed to be looking to rush us. We asked for some time to consider...the menu, and she picked up on the vibe. What followed was a well paced dining experience. We split appetizers of calamari and a fall bruschetta. The calamari was the most flavorful and most tender version I think I have ever had. The bruschetta with butternut squash and goat cheese was good. But, I would have preferred a crisper base. The base was a little too bready. I went we'd with the pork chop, three others had the roast cod and the last two had two different steaks. The food was well prepared and attractively presented. My chop was large, juicy and well seasoned. We finished with creme brulee and limoncello cakes. I would highly recommend this restaurant.More

I made a reservation a month in advance, we got there and was told a 20 min wait after 3 parties we seated before us I spoke up and was given a table next to the kitchen, I complained and was given a better table...and then not any service. I will NEVER go back and my family will not either. You better have money and be the right kind of people if you want to go there.More

The atmosphere was warm and comfortable. The service, drinks and food were excellent. I had their fried calamari which was done perfectly and their baked scallop dinner was excellent. Dinner partners enjoyed wonderful large steaks and Osso Buco. Great dinners.

Always a nice place for dinner we opted to do take put on our late return from the Cape. I think their food is just not suited to bringing home and would've liked some input while ordering such as "won't ravel well" even for short...distance as we live 5 minutes away. Flatbread was swimming in tomato sauce , and brussels sprouts were in pool of oil. Burger did much betterMore

Sun Tavern is one of our favorite spots in Duxbury. The steak tips and hamburgers are amazing, and the ambience is perfect for a date. Dining there is an all-around fantastic experience and really reflects the history of the area. Such is a cozy spot!

You think you're going farther into farm area, but you're looking for the Sun Tavern and all of a sudden you're there...and you're in for a treat! Good food in a historic house, renovated for a delightful place to eat. The food is also a...surprise, because it's really good. A little pricey, but well worth the ambiance, the varied menu, the friendliest servers and an all around special experience. Especially good for special occasions with no pretense, warm atmosphere and (did I say) really good food. We liked it a lot and will go back on many special occasions!More

The Sun Tavern is a great experience any time of the year but my favorite is in the fall/winter once the fireplace is lit in the bar. The antique property has such an atmospheric feel and a rich history. Whether it is a quick bite...at the bar or sitting in the restaurant the service and the food quality remain the same. I have a hard time stepping away from my standard favorites but when I do I am not disappointed.More

To my recollection they only serve dinner. Most days beginning at 5 pm. There is a great bar selection and the ladies would love it, but no lunch time reservations.

The Sun has several rooms for dining. I personally like the Grill room in front of the open kitchen. There is a table in the corner that seems to be a favorite for many of our guests. Feel free to come on in and checkout the... More
