What a fantastic meal. The 3 course Lebanese dinner was creative and delicious. Everything; the Kohlrabi salad, Hummus, Orecchiette pasta and particularly the Seafood Shakshuka were perfectly prepared. The Saffron Olive Oil cake was to die for.The quiet atmosphere and attentive service was enjoyable.

The Pheasant flies high through these challenging times with delicious dinners available for pick up. The care and skill that go into their dishes is unmistakable. We loved the New York Strip (prepared sous vide and pan-finished at home), served with potato salad, Cesara salad, and clam chowder - all prepared with locally sourced ingredients. Enjoy!

I’m coming back in for a new review after leaving a bad review a few years ago. Perhaps this Japanese pop up is what The Pheasant needed. It’s still the same inside, but the food is Japanese tapas. Something the Cape is in desperate need of - quality tapas and great Japanese food. The menu isn’t sushi, mind you. It’s a small selection of tapas, small plates and a few large plates. We shared a few of the small plates and moved on to sharing the large plates as well. All of which were delicious. I think the only one I wouldn’t recommend was the yellowtail tuna large plate. It was just a bit bland and hard to manage with the tail and bones. Still tasty, just not my first choice over the fried chicken special and definitely the wagyu steak. I could have blown through each of the tapas and small plates as well. Our server was wonderful as well. Definitely ask questions when in doubt.
Here’s my only “buts.” The place is freezing early on. That brought back memories of the old Pheasant. The restrooms were like a freezer too. It takes a while for the place to warm up, so dress appropriately. The wine situation was weird too. They have a short wine list, but then they encourage you to go back to this weird area where there is an extended wine selection. You can buy a bottle there and for a $10 corking fee, enjoy. It’s weird. Finally, the stupid Toast thing. You just sign the bill and have no idea what you just signed and don’t get a receipt. I despise Toast
I definitely recommend hitting The Pheasant before the Japanese pop up goes away in February

The Pheasant is one of the few Cape restaurants outside Provincetown that is good and interesting enough that it would do well in Boston. We had the house made sausage, which was so freshly made that you could taste the different components of the filling. The sweet potato salad with spicy mayo, cotija cheese and scallions was also great. And my vegetarian wife enjoyed the meze plate. They have also done a great job adapting to the post-COVID world. Between the regular spraying of the outdoor tables and the provision of disposable silverware, the owners have figured out a way to set people at ease about eating out while social distancing.

Family dinner during the pandemic, and the Pheasant handles the disruption deliciously. Outdoor seating, tables well spaced, or to go meals, great menu!
we had fabulous wood-grilled chicken, salt & pepper cod, thai braised beef, spicy scallop roll, and split mediterranean mezze & roasted eggplant apps. all great!
adam & erica --wonderful!!!!

So thankful for the creativity in food, cocktails and ambience at The Pheasant. Our kids loved it and adults can relax while enjoying a delicious meal and drinks. The fire pit and cafe lights really make for a lovely ambience. We absolutely loved the lobster hand roll - ordered it twice. Every dish was creative and super fresh. The staff was very welcoming and their COVID protocol made us feel very much at ease. One of the owners - Erica - was fully engaged with the customers and ensuring we all had a great time. Highly recommend this beautiful space for delicious meals. They’ll work with you for picky kids.

Nice evening with friends eating at the Pheasant, our first visit. With Covid outdoor dining is everywhere at the Cape. I have no preference eating in or out. This place had a nice setup outside with a campfire for roasting marshmallows if you were so inclined, sticks and marshmallows to order. Picnic tables in a large space near their parking lot and another area surrounded by trees with picnic tables and the campfire. You download the menu as you wait in line to place your order outside. I ordered the Mediterranean mezze plate and it was plentiful, had the leftovers for lunch today as you can see in my photo. My partner had the grilled chicken sandwich and a beer. I cannot recommend the mixed drinks as my cocktail had little to no alcohol in the raspberry lemonade. However they did have a selection of beer and wine that looked pleasing. The staff were pleasant and attentive. Try the Pheasant I think you’ll enjoy.

We went to The Pheasant at least once a week over the summer as it was our favorite outdoor restaurant. All through the summer they were very accommodating for dairy and gluten allergies as well as for my mother who is vegetarian. We were so excited to try their new Japanese pop up and see their indoor spot.
It is still our favorite place!!! It is incredibly cozy with a wood burning fireplace at the bar and a wood burning stove in the main area. The owners are the nicest people and they are still VERY accommodating to my dairy and gluten allergy, and the drinks are delicious. It will always be our favorite place to go for date night, as well as a place to bring our friends & family.
If you have not been yet you are missing out!

Modernized version of the former Red Pheasant, but still cozy and charming in a different way. Nice fireplaces where you have that lovely hardwood burning aroma in winter; and with beautiful flower gardens in the summer. Really nice owners and staff. Fun bartender and excellent service. The bar is charming, with a fireplace, zinc top, and craft cocktails. Great place for a drink. Excellent food. The local oysters were great, served with a refined version of cocktail sauce and mignonette; and a perfect and tasty Beef Wellington. Nice fettucine with white truffle butter sauce a la Ina Garten version. Small wine list but with reasonable prices. They have a more limited winter menu, but it was well balanced with everything from the Beef Wellington to a burger and fresh fish choices. We’re happy to see this old revised favorite hitting its stride and look forward to making it a “regular” kine place!

What a great experience overall. So many highlights…first the food. The Pheasant is doing a Japanese pub pop-up called Izakaya. They food was incredible, not what you’d expect from the typical Japanese restaurant experience. This is a pub type menu that travels very well. Brilliantly executed by the kitchen, flavors , tastes and seasonings are so good. We over ordered and it was so great to have leftovers. The host/ owner gave us a warm friendly welcome and the staff was attentive and friendly also. Reservations required and a mask upon entering plus vaccination card must be presented. (I LOVED ALL OF THAT). Recommending this experience to all of our friends. Might be our new cape favorite.

I read about The Pheasant in last year's Best of Boston and wanted to give it a try when visiting the Cape this year. The food was excellent however the portions were inexcusably small. What made the small portions even worse was that we asked our server and she overstated the portion sizes so we thought we'd be fine with what we had ordered. We all left a bit hungry. Either the portion sizes need to increase or the wait staff need to do a better job of explaining how to appropriately order. I'd be willing to try it again.

Food, service and atmosphere are excellent. A hidden gem and easily worthy of the drive from Boston or beyond on its own. Menus are creative and exciting, never the same old same old here. Definitely a must try for anyone who enjoys trying new things and appreciates excellent cuisine. The owners have made a tremendous effort to support their staff and community during the pandemic. We go out of our way to dine at the Pheasant in light of their common sense COVID-19 policies and the safe & cleanly experience they create for all. Sadly there are members of our community who both cannot be bothered to think of others and also feel the need to bash small businesses. I for one prefer to dine at establishments that take health and safety seriously. The less crazies in attendance the better!

With Cape Cod filled with one too many tired old fried seafood restaurants, it's a welcome break to go visit The Pheasant. The menu changes by season, makes use of local ingredients, and is always well planned and executed. You can do inside or outside dining, and there is also a great bar area with custom cocktails. Outside dining is available in a nice back courtyard or at picnic tables by a fire pit. You can also order take out. The staff is always well trained, and the owners are great. Starting last season they also added a great wine store in the restaurant that carries some great labels. We consider this one of the best - if not the best - restaurant on Cape Cod.

We’ve all done it. Driveen by very old house with a commercial sign out front. Inside may be needlepoint, jams, food. They’re all hoping to offer something that inspires you to help them pay the property taxes. We’ve driven past The Pheasant many times. This time we’re staying in the B & B Nextdoor (Scargo Manor B & B is equally wonderful) and we have no excuse not to try. I dare you not to feel what I did when I walked in the door. It was simultaneously warm, quieting, welcoming and, just pleasing. Allie is the bar empress and she shepherded us from cocktails through grown up ice cream. From Olives to Ice Cream, this was a wonderful experience and now memory. Unique and Delicious!

This was our first visit to The Pheasant. It's a bit of a concept restaurant with a shared plate menu. The food overall was interesting and delicious. But items like a charcuterie plate seemed a bit misleading. It was only one kind of sliced salami.
No gerken,mustard,bread...just sliced salami. We were four but dishes came with five items. Four scallops or eight, but five just got awkward. The service for this type of restaurant is always challenging but to constantly ask that finished plates and glasses be removed was tedious. We really enjoyed the remarkable selection of wines but it's almost impossible to choose a bottle that connects with such different food preparations. Wines by the glass is a better idea. I feel like we will visit again but maybe just sit at the bar and expect a more casual experience.
