bland food, small helpings, way overpriced, cramped table space. the main dishes came with plain rice and a dollop of black beans, nothing special at all.

Great atmosphere, Waitress was a family member of the owner and super friendly. Food was great. I ordered the Pollo en Mole Poblano Chicken topped with our delicious homemade poblano sauce (mildly spicy). My daughter ordered the Gallo's Special Three shrimp tacos topped with pico de gallo (mildly spicy), shredded cabbage, avocado and your choice of tortilla.

Great menu selection. The chips were warm and the salsa homemade. Drinks were good and the owner was in the restaurant and very friendly.

To my knowledge, the only authentic Mexican place in the Boston area. A local favorite that we have patronized for twenty years. Excellent food at reasonable prices. The Margueritas are outstanding.

I had heard great things about this place but was very disappointed. We both had fajitas and they were not very hot, tasted like they had already been made. Not even served on a sizzling platter like most fajitas. The meat was tough. The beans and rice were lukewarm and nothing special. They charge you $4 extra for cheese, sour... More

We have been going to el sarapes for about 25 years. Have always found the food good, the service very friendly and we love the sangria though it is getting pricey. we have if you get in by 6:30pm you don't have a long wait and the overall experience is better than if you go later. Ultimately it is one... More

Not Tex Mex. Not a chain owned by gringos. This is authentic Mexican food prepared by real Mexicans. Sometimes there is excellent live music.

My family and I went here for lunch yesterday after reading great reviews about the place. My husband had bean burritos, I had chicken tacos, and our daughter had beef tacos. Overall everything was ok but nothing special. We have not found good Mexican food since moving to Massachusetts and had very high hopes for El Sarape.

Food was pretty flavorless, and I was disappointed that the waitress was pretty unhelpful or uninformative about the menu.
