We live on the Cape, this was our favorite place to dine. Quality of food is not as good as it used to be along with the service. Prices are out of site. We will not be back.

I really didn't want to wast my time on a review but this place has become just a real tourist trap. The world famous clam chowder ($10 a cup) was nothing more than milk and flower with potatoes and sloped over the edge at that....While I am on service, our server stood on my blind side instead of walking around the table to face us making it very awkward to communicate causing me to have to turn in my chair. It's the little things that a professional server should know. the fried whole belly clams were not fresh but frozen and deep-fried sad when there is a fresh fish market next door. We hand to cut up to get our check.More

Views & food are fantastic & this used to be Our GO TO place for dinner; my aunt is a local & I grew up in Massachusetts with much time on the Cape since teen years. We’ve had a beach house in family for about...40 years & my kids grew up coming here as well. However, the no reservation deal is untenable. We don’t like to dine at 5 or 830 pm & when you have elderly folks or young kids, it’s just insane to wait for an hour or more. There’s only so many sunset pix you can take. Sadly we are done; my time is valuable & I will go again when they consider that & give me a RESERVATION !More

Place was very crowded on Saturday night with about an hour plus wait. Had a few drinks in the lounge, supper great martinis! Then seated in the dining room with good views of the sunset. My sister had the shrimp scampi (she raved about) and...I had the New England Cioppino. My meal was loaded with seafood, all tasted wonderful along with the broth. Been here a few times over the years, and this was the best food and the best ever service. Very attentive waitress, and the compliments to the entire staff there!More

We’ve been here many times, the steamers (appetizers) are the best, though the portion size has shrunk with inflation. In the past, we have gotten several orders for a meal & have been thrilled. This time for $48 we also got the 7 Oz lobster...rolls- what a disappointment, it was all claw & small leg meat, absolutely no tail meat. Definitely skip the Lobster.More

We've long had the bar here as a mid-way resting point for our modest local bike rides - but we've moved out to the Mills, so this wasn't a regular "go-to" consideration. Our loss. We brought our family here for an early dinner in late...July - arrived around 4:15, greeted by valet (?), and promptly given a prime waterside table - even though we had a grandchild in a high-chair. I had looked at the menu on line, and confirmed they had plenty of gluten-free options. The menu was quite extensive - we left feeling full. The service was very good - plenty of support staff to address our needs and to prepare for the subsequent seatings. I ordered a steak frites - usually nothing to crow about - a typical French bistro offering. I took one bite - and wow - what a treat! Everyone loved their entrees. Mattakeese Wharf has been a Barnstable Harbor staple for over 50 years. At times it has felt a bit worn - but it seems they've recently invested in updated furnishings and finishes. Our company loved it; I loved it. I'll be back even during tourist season - as long as we get there early - there was a wait for tables when we left around 5:30 on a Tuesday. Better than the legacy rating implies - it's worth your while! Enjoy!More

Clam chowder was good but my $48 lobster roll was average at best. View is so beautiful but there’ was no outside seating.

The steamers and baked scallops were Incredible, cooked/steamed to perfection! The maple glazed salmon with quinoa was outstanding. This is my new favorite place. Dreaming about going back ; ) Staff was friendly, good service, we did go on the earlier side for dinner.

We shared fish tacos and clam strip plate. Both were very good. Wish we had sat in dining room because service in bar area was very slow. Food prices good but drinks are pricey.

Delightful seating in the enclosed deck. Boats still coming and going. We all enjoyed our meals and service was great. THE best....homemade INDIAN PUDDING served hot with vanilla ice cream! It was so creamy with that hint on cornmeal grit! OMG. Whomever made it...well done!...I had baked haddock which was light and well baked. Friends had swordfish and fried cod tacos!!! All delicious and well portioned.More

Unlike TripAdvisor “advice”, the restaurant was indeed open. Perhaps it was a competitor gaming the system, as often times happens with the lack of follow-up with TripAdvisor. Food as great, valet was impeccable and the view of the harbor was to die for. What I...didn’t like though was the staff on steroids trying to turn the tables over. Not a place for a full evening experience.More

We had a wonderful dinner, the lobster rolls were amazing, each had a whole lobster in, the steak was delicious, the fried calamari perfect, and the desserts fantastic (creme brulee and molted chocolate lava). The waitstaff was very friendly. Highly recommend.

We had a large party of friends and young children. Everyone’s food was delicious and our waitress was fantastic. I saw the clam chowder was “award winning” so I ordered it. This clam chowder was one of the best soups I’ve had in my life....For dinner I got the burger and it was also mouth watering good! I would definitely come back here!More
