Recently visited the tavern for the first time in many years. Had a wonderful meal at a fair price. My wife had stuffed cod and loved it. I had the Mediterranean fish stew and it was outstanding!! As good as any I have had at the cape. Only complaint was that as we dined at the bar we had to... More

We were guided here by the managers of the Lamb and Lion Inn, since we wanted to take our standard poodle with us for dinner. Dogs are permitted on the patio, which worked well for us. Service was polite, drinks good, and comfort food above average. Highly recommend this place, especially if you're traveling with a canine companion.

The food was pretty good and it was very relaxing sitting outside amongst the gardens to enjoy our meals. Staff were perhaps a little inexperienced but not rude or unhelpful. Wear your insect repellant though if you are there in the evening.

Mother natures beauty, relaxing, educational, and shade! What more could you want! The captain and the tour guide were wonderful, which made the tour top notch. I've been going to the cape for the last 20 years and I highly recommend this.

We stopped by early one July afternoon for a modest sized lunch. We were seated outside (our choice) at a table shaded by a big umbrella. Service was prompt (at first). We opted for a cup of chowder (always try the chowder at a first-time Cape Cod restaurant). It was rather good - a bit light on the clams, but... More

I was fortunate enough to celebrate my Retirement Party at the Barnstable Tavern on July 7th. Susan Finegold, the owner, and her staff, did an incredible job to ensure that the event was perfect. We had 40 plus people in a beautifully arranged room which they graciously allowed to be decorated. There were two appetizer choices and four entree choices,... More

Still affectionately called "The Barnstable Tavern" by locals, this charming Barnstable Village spot has been through several ownerships over the years. The current regime has been there for quite a while and does an excellent job. I have admittedly experienced spotty service in the dining room, but my last few visits have been at the cozy lounge where the women... More
