Ruan Thai is our Thai restaurant of choice in Silver Spring. The food is amazingly authentic. Many dishes exactly as we experienced in our trip to Thailand. It is family friendly, relaxed dining easily within walking distance of downtown. I have too many favorites to mention. The owners have been redecorating over the last year and the result is a... Ruan Thai has been a favorite of ours for many years. We like pad thai so much that we often order that to go in addition to whatever we choose for our dining in meal. The green curry is always good. It's a good idea to let the wait person know how spicy or mild you would like your entrée... More

You wouldn't think it was much from appearances, but I have enjoyed everything I've gotten there so far. As a vegetarian, it's nice to have some options in Wheaton. The noodle dishes, especially, are great.

Had the tofu green curry made super spicy and it was very good. My husband ordered the fried tofu with fungus mushrooms in black bean sauce, it was also very good. Service is very good, the interior is large and could accommodate a large group. There are so many places to eat in Wheaton, it is a good place to... More

i had a delightful dinner at Ruan Thai recently, and was especially intrigued by the watercress dish for which they are famous. It held its reputation for me and I enjoyed immensely having something a little bit different. My dinner partner also enjoyed her meal (forgotten it's name)and of course we shared. In fact there was plenty left for her... More

We loved Ruan Thai. Nothing fancy, small strip center, limited parking (though on street) and Spartan dining room. So ... if that's what you're looking for ... keep looking. However, if you want wonderful Thai food and very good service, you'll be really pleased with Ruan Thai. Looking forward to going back!

There is almost no parking at this restaurant, so we decided to walk the one-mile round trip from our lodging. This restaurant has been mentioned as one of the best restaurants for inexpensive food in the D.C. area, and we heartily concur. While one generally doesn't go to a "cheap eats" award winner for the decor and atmosphere, this was... More

Went here for lunch and was not disappointed. The appetizer called "Yum Watercress" is delightful with tofu (probably with squid and shrimp too but I didn't have it that way). It is worth going here just for the watercress dish. Make sure to order off the "Thai menu" but be warned, the dishes are very spicy! Parking isn't the best... More

Decades ago, the space now occupied by Ruan Thai used to be Siam Inn, one of the first Thai restaurants in the DC area. Siam Inn was a revelation at the time. But it's long gone, and Ruan Thai, though a sturdy place on a particular with most suburban Thai restaurants but not even close to its predecessor. That's a... More

We had takeout from here and reading the reviews we really thought that the food would be quite good. So we ordered 3 appetizers: dumplings, spring rolls, seafood salad and 4 entrees: Pad Thai, Beef Musselman Curry, Eggplant, and Crispy duck. The duck was supposed to come with a hot chili sauce, but the sauce was bland. In fact everything... More
