On Sunday afternoon, 02-09-20 I went to Brian Boru to attend a private party. Upon entering the restaurant, I was pleasantly greeted by an associate, Connie. I told Connie I was there for the private party and she showed me to area sectioned off for the party.
In the private party area, the tables were set up, the buffet was hot, plentiful and delicious. I observed several servers who were taking orders for drinks and attending to any special needs of the guests.
Throughout the event I observed Connie providing direction to the servers to ensure all of the “T”s were crossed and all of the “i”s were dotted. Connie appeared to be the director of a cohesive team that made us all happy during this special occasion!
Kudo’s to Brian Boru and Connie for an outstanding job well done!

Checking out our local irish pub and restaurant as newcomers to the area we were greeted by the owner Jamie with a friendly welcome. We opted to sit inside albeit outside was available as well to enjoy the cool air-conditioning on a hot summers day. We felt very comfortable with all the health and safety guidelines in place. The beer was cold and the food was great we can definately recommend the corned beef spring rolls, chicken wings, pasta and hotpot all piping hot, tasty and quick to the table. Enjoyed our first visit and will be back soon for sure.

Hello Belinda,
Thank you so much for your kind review. It is wonderful to hear that our team is executing the experience that we hope to impart on our new friends, and of course continue to keep our more familiar guests coming back for more. Jamie is one of our long time managers here. I am very happy that he represented himself in a manner that emulates how our owners expect us to be. We will be sure to share your stellar review with our team, as nothing feels better than positive feedback.
We look forward to serving you again soon and until then, stay safe and well.
Slainte,

My husband and I have been to Brian Boru many times including the past month. We have never felt endangered though we are at the vulnerable age. Tables were set apart and masks worn.
The happy hour is a real treat. Try the fish tacos and roast beef sliders. My favorite has always been the Pub fish sandwich with cole slaw. I was stunned that someone would fault the manager, Heather. She is serious about guidelines. In addition she and the Brian Boru group gave countless meals to first providers and essential workers. Our community needs more Heathers .

With capacity restrictions on indoor dining, we called ahead to ensure we could be accommodated. Upon arrival we were promptly seated. The waiter arrived soon thereafter and took our drink order. In short, the service was excellent. The Shepard’s pie, beef stew, and fish and chips were very good. The portions were reasonable as were the prices.

We read the reviews and decided to stop in as we were nearby. The interior is all that you would expect- dark wood, very Irish pub.
Our order was for a light lunch with one chicken sandwich and the other a grilled cheese. We added a cup of soup, one a tomato whiskey and the other minestrone.
The tomato whiskey was the hit if the day with good sized chunks of tomato in a light soup with a nice hit of whiskey. The minestrone was nothing much / lots of onion and pale broth with some other veggies.
The grilled cheese had highs and lows. First, no way was it a classy grilled cheese... opened up the sandwich and you could see the thin outline of a partially melted Velveeta type cheese slice. The ham were thin slices of a very nice smoky ham. It definitely should have been labeled as a ham and cheese.
The chicken sandwich was a low. It was a real piece of chicken breast, hard, dry and overcooked. The roll type bread was slightly toasted and buttered on the top but soggy and squished on the bottom.
Service was friendly got bring non existent except to taking the order and bringing the check. No coffee or water refills.
So the only intriguing or interesting thing about this Irish restaurant was its quasi Irish look. The menu sounded a heck of a lot more creative than it turned out to be on the table.

Elizabeth,
I am so sorry that your visit did not meet your expectations. I can assure you that it is not a typical experience with us. We are a chef driven kitchen, so to hear that the food was not up to par is very disappointing. All of our meats and cheeses are deli cut here and I promise we do not use Velveeta, but Dubliner Cheddar and American on this sandwich, as well as others. Our servers are usually on top of their game, and I would like to have more insight on your visit to share with your team to address any shortcomings, or issues that may have resulted in such lackluster service. If you would be so inclined to give us details of your visit, I can be reached at manager@brianborupub.com or via phone at 410-975-2678. I would certainly like to invite you back to give us another try so we can show you how we truly operate.
Again, my apologies and thanks for your time in reviewing us.

It’s been three years since I’ve updated my review!
My last visit here was in November of 2021. Three of us came in for lunch. We initially had the place to ourselves (we came in a few minutes after they opened) but more parties came in throughout our meal. Unfortunately, I cannot for the life of me remember our server’s name (the receipt says “Waiter 214 AM BAR”) but she was fantastic. Personable, bubbly, friendly, incredibly attentive. She was a delight. We ordered the Wexford Potato Cake appetizer, which is one of our favorites. I ordered a cup of Tomato & Whiskey Soup (fantastic!) and an Irish Rueben Sandwich (corned beef, sauerkraut, Swiss cheese, Irish mustard dressing, grilled rye bread) with fries and a pickle. This sandwich is one of my favorites here. The fries are great as well. My friend ordered the Corned Beef and Cabbage (corned beef, champ mashed potatoes, steamed cabbage, carrot parsnip mashed potatoes). She loved it and kept raving about it during our meal. My mom ordered her tried and true - Fish & Chips (cod, homemade beer batter) with fries and vinegar slaw. The pieces of fish are generous and she loves the coleslaw. I loved the soup so much that I ordered a bowl to go, and also ordered a chicken pot pie for my dad, which he devoured and enjoyed!

I went to "Brian Boru" after reading of reviews of various restaurants in my area. Reviews claimed that the "Shepard's Pie" was to die for! However, that was not my experience as it was not that tasty and lacked desired veggies that was advertised... there were only about 5 or 6 peas and the same number of small chopped carrots, and no cooked onions. The pie was somewhat bland and I had to add ketchup to give it flavor. I also was still hungry after paying out $20 for it as the portion size was lacking. Later that evening t I repeatedly found myself on the toilet with diaherra and it had to be the shephard's pie because I had nothing else to eat before or after that and had to hold off in eating anything until the following morning. Maybe I uniquely had a bad experience, but even so I and my family will avoid going there in the future.

We had a wonderful experience here for a family dinner this week. Our server & the manager we spoke with were both wonderful at accommodating my son's food allergies and the extra care they took to make sure we were comfortable with his meal was so appreciated. The rest of us had a great meal too, fish & chips were fantastic, and great beer selection. Great place, and we highly recommend it!

We wanted to find a new restaurant that had good Corned Beef and Cabbage for my husband. I had Chicken Pot Pie, and it was good. My husband started with the Potato and Leek Soup, and he liked it. Then came the Corned Beef and Cabbage which was like nothing we had ever seen before. Not a drop of liquid and beef was in 2 1/2 inch long by 1/2 inch blocks they were so tough when my husband went to cut into one it was impossible.. Corned Beef is usually served in slices and not chunks that reminded you of chucks of chalk. They did remove it from the bill.
I would recommend that first not have someone under the age of 21 serve. As when a question about the beer she could not answer due to the fact could not legally drink. Also, teach your staff including the busboy that when dirty dish are sitting on the end of the table to remove them. At one point I counted 8 people including servers went by the table and never picked up a glass or a dish.

My husband and I regularly visit Brian Boru and have since they were allowed to open back up. They have gone far above and beyond to keep their facility clean and ensure all patrons and staff are following COVID regulations inside and outside. The staff, food and service are all amazing and are doing their absolute best in a tough situation! I applaud them all!

We were on vacation from "The Hudson Valley", New York to visit "OLD New York friends living in Pasadena MD. Kathy & Bruce suggested we experience dinner at Brian Boru's Restaurant. We quickly made reservations and headed out.
Upon arrival we were quickly greeted and lead to our table. The waiter almost instantly arrived and took our drink order, mine of-course was a pint of Dublin's finest, GUINNESS. Bruce and I decided on steak and the lasses chose Fish.
The restaurant interior is reminiscent of many of the fine Pubs that I had visited in Ireland. Although quite crowded, the noise level was not excessive. I have a severe hearing loss and with my aides, we were all able to chat across the table.
Soon, two waiters arrived with our meals. They were "HOT" fresh out of the kitchen. The meals with all the fixings were delicious. Possibly one of the best steaks I have ever eaten. Kathy had her home-made desert and coffee waiting at home, so we skipped that option.
Ann and I look forward to our next trip to Maryland. We will surely return to Brian Boru again.

Wife and I visited Brsin Boru after at least 3 years absence. Positives: Excellent beer selection, fish and chips and desserts. Not so positives: Potato/leek soup had WAY too much chunky green leek stems, the cole slaw was bland and could've been done without, and service was marginal at best. We will return but with caution.

Sadly, I really wanted to offer a higher review of this restaurant. The food was delicious but I would not recommend holding an event here. We had planned a baby shower to be held in the restaurant. We started planning this back in June for an August event. We arrived to the restaurant to begin setting up only to find out that there was a prior event I was not made aware of. I was told they would be done at 130 and I could begin setting up no later than 145., This was hardly the case. At 205 I began moving into the space to begin my event as my guests had begun to arrive, no one in management helped to let the previous party know they need to vacate the space. Drinks were not offered to my guests who were stuck sitting at nearby tables waiting for the previous party to leave. In fact, I never saw management come out to discuss any of the issues with me at any time. The only shining star at the restaurant was my server Hope who helped us set up the balloon arch in another area so that was at least done prior to the start. To this day, 3 days post event, management still has not reached out to me to apologize for the confusion and stress of the day. I would not recommend having any events here based on this experience

We held our son and bride to be wedding rehearsal dinner at Brian Boru Irish Pub and Restaurant. It was an excellent choice, highly recommend it for wedding rehearsal dinners or business gatherings. We were a party of about 30 people. We had our own section of the pub and the food was served buffet styled. Very relaxing and casual atmosphere. Irish beer on tap and mixed drinks to order. Good food and service, everyone had a great time. I really prefer the buffet format over the stuffy sit and get served way, you have a better control of portions, everyone is left fat and happy.

I have no idea how they do it... despite all of the restrictions due to COVID-19, the staff, and especially the management went above and beyond to ensure everyone's safety while maintaining the family based atmosphere it is known for. I will definitely make sure all of my friends and family in the area know what a well run establishment Brian's is. Masks on! Social distancing in place. Couldn't ask for a better experience!
