My clan has been visiting this establishment every Holiday season since there was a two term Republican in the White House. It's what an Irish Pub should be - local and cheap with an incredible menu and an amazing Happy Hour M-F 3-7pm and all...night Wed (and to think they have three sister restaurants, Galway Bay and Pirate's Cove and Kilarney House). Though their signature Boru Brew Lager makes Coors Light look full-bodied, there are plenty of other adult beverage choices including an incredible selection of Half & Halfs (Guinness + something else) and a great assortment of Mule drinks. Somehow they manage to maintain an amazing menu with dozens of delicious, filling dishes, yet also manage to attract an upbeat and efficient staff, despite COVID. Nothing comes close to this longtime neighborhood bar/restaurant anywhere in the Low Country in my honest opinion. I'd love to be able to come here more often, but that would mean paying Maryland taxes and being surrounded by over-paid, under-worked, remotely working government drones. Been there done that. Slainte'!More

I have been here less than a dozen times over an 8 year period. It never fails to make me wish I lived in this town. The food offerings are excellent. The service is unbeatable. The live music - check their calendar - is always...spot on. Jamie and Cheyenne are entertaining behind the bar. I have never had a disappointing meal. This visit, i had the Corned beef Poppers - STOP! Do NOT Sleep on this treat! OMG! Succulent corned beef - really! Probably the best corned beef I've ever had, but nestled in a shroud of beer batter that just breaks the meter on flavor. Tomato whiskey soup. Sheesh! their take on a tomato basil, but less basily and oh so good! Fish and chips, ... enough for two solid meals! Great stuff!More

We had a wonderful experience here for a family dinner this week. Our server & the manager we spoke with were both wonderful at accommodating my son's food allergies and the extra care they took to make sure we were comfortable with his meal was...so appreciated. The rest of us had a great meal too, fish & chips were fantastic, and great beer selection. Great place, and we highly recommend it!More

I went to "Brian Boru" after reading of reviews of various restaurants in my area. Reviews claimed that the "Shepard's Pie" was to die for! However, that was not my experience as it was not that tasty and lacked desired veggies that was advertised... there...were only about 5 or 6 peas and the same number of small chopped carrots, and no cooked onions. The pie was somewhat bland and I had to add ketchup to give it flavor. I also was still hungry after paying out $20 for it as the portion size was lacking. Later that evening t I repeatedly found myself on the toilet with diaherra and it had to be the shephard's pie because I had nothing else to eat before or after that and had to hold off in eating anything until the following morning. Maybe I uniquely had a bad experience, but even so I and my family will avoid going there in the future.More

Wife and I visited Brsin Boru after at least 3 years absence. Positives: Excellent beer selection, fish and chips and desserts. Not so positives: Potato/leek soup had WAY too much chunky green leek stems, the cole slaw was bland and could've been done without, and...service was marginal at best. We will return but with caution.More

It’s been three years since I’ve updated my review! My last visit here was in November of 2021. Three of us came in for lunch. We initially had the place to ourselves (we came in a few minutes after they opened) but more parties came...in throughout our meal. Unfortunately, I cannot for the life of me remember our server’s name (the receipt says “Waiter 214 AM BAR”) but she was fantastic. Personable, bubbly, friendly, incredibly attentive. She was a delight. We ordered the Wexford Potato Cake appetizer, which is one of our favorites. I ordered a cup of Tomato & Whiskey Soup (fantastic!) and an Irish Rueben Sandwich (corned beef, sauerkraut, Swiss cheese, Irish mustard dressing, grilled rye bread) with fries and a pickle. This sandwich is one of my favorites here. The fries are great as well. My friend ordered the Corned Beef and Cabbage (corned beef, champ mashed potatoes, steamed cabbage, carrot parsnip mashed potatoes). She loved it and kept raving about it during our meal. My mom ordered her tried and true - Fish & Chips (cod, homemade beer batter) with fries and vinegar slaw. The pieces of fish are generous and she loves the coleslaw. I loved the soup so much that I ordered a bowl to go, and also ordered a chicken pot pie for my dad, which he devoured and enjoyed!More

You cannot go wrong with Brian Boru if you are looking for a good Irish pub with good beer, good spirits and good food. Try the Shepards pie, it is excellent. Great place for lunch, dinner or just drinks.

With capacity restrictions on indoor dining, we called ahead to ensure we could be accommodated. Upon arrival we were promptly seated. The waiter arrived soon thereafter and took our drink order. I’ve been impressed how they have handled the dempanic with their spacing, cleanliness and use of PPE. I’ve recently attended...other establishments as the restaurants open up and some of them act like it’s pre Covid with no difference in how they employ the rules that have been set by local governments. My husband and I have been to Brian Boru many times including the past month. We have never felt endangered though we are at the vulnerable age. Tables were set apart and masks worn. The happy hour is a real treat. Try the fish tacos...and roast beef sliders. My favorite has always been the Pub fish sandwich with cole slaw. I was stunned that someone would fault the manager, Heather. She is serious about guidelines. In addition she and the Brian Boru group gave countless meals to first providers and essential workers.
