While in St Michael’s, we were looking for someplace “other than the usual spots” for a nice dinner. It is hard to find a bad meal in St Michael’s but we were looking for something a little different this time to celebrate a special birthday. That is exactly what we found here! The tag line: “Maryland meets the Mediterranean” is accurate, but doesn’t do justice to the quality of the meal nor the dining experience itself. Housed in a charming 19th century building, the atmosphere is tranquil and inviting. Several small dining rooms, each lovingly and tastefully decorated to evoke a different Mediterranean region. An interesting and reasonably priced drink list had an excellent selection of unique wines, beer, spirits and several craft cocktails… including a Mediterranean Mule garnished with fresh figs “from a garden right down the street”. With that as a start, we got our first hint of what was to come. Saraha Pita chips made a nice, light appetizer. (We’ll be back another time to sample some of their heavier starters which would make for a lovely tapas supper all by themselves. ) Shared a Mediterranean salad plate (fresh feta cheese !! ), which was a perfect lead in to our entrees: the mixed grill (lovely wooden handled skewers were a nice touch!!) was excellent, but the braised lamb shank over mashed potatoes was sublime. (And huge… my take home box was enough for two to share for lunch the following day. ) the crowning touch was a baklava like we’ve never experienced before: a nest of shredded phillo. And if that all wasn’t enough, the owners and staff were engaging, attentive without being intrusive. And justifiably proud of their restaurant. We will definitely be back!!

My husband and I agree along with our two friends that our meal at Plates At 208 was the best overall dinning experience we have had in a very long time. From the delicious Mezza and Milk & honey Flight appetizers. (which are a must!) to the entrees of a Mixed grill and whole fish. We had a bottle of wine and three toquilla cocktails and a delicious creative dessert. We could not believe how reasonable the whole meal was including a very well deserved tip. We wish she had another location closer to us because it would be a monthly visit for sure!!

We visited St. Michaels with friends in early September and decided on Plates At 208 for dinner. It did not disappoint! The personable staff welcomed our party of 6 warmly, and we enjoyed outstanding service all evening. The cocktails were well crafted, the Mediterranean food exceeded expectations, everything was fresh and flavorful, and the homemade Baklava Cheesecake was nothing short of AMAZING! What a great night! I look forward to dining at Plates At 208 when we return to St. Michaels again.

We had a delicious, romantic dinner. We started with a mezze platter—all of the dips, spreads and breads are made on site, and much of the veggies come from the garden, according to the server. You could tell from the bright flavors. Next we had a whole fish snapper—crispy and flavorful. The service was attentive and friendly. It was a special night.

We came to this restaurant at the recommendation of our B&B chef, I love Mediterranean cuisine and was looking forward to celebrating our anniversary dinner. The sign seems to be on the wrong side of the building, and we walked right past the entrance. The atmosphere is super warm and welcoming, and we were greeted wonderfully AND received a complementary glass of champagne for our special occasion which was lovely! However the service was really not up to par with the amount of money you are spending on the meal. Our server (by his own admission) was not super attentive (although super nice), but little details like only filling up my husband’s water and not mine….. not something i would expect from a place with these price tags. Our appetizer was ok (crab fritters), and our entrees were super disappointing (lamb and vegetable tart). Lamb was cooked well, but didn’t have much flavor. The vegetable dish was just, yuck. By far the best part of the meal was the dessert… chocolate chip cannoli for the win. At this point, it seems the restaurant has some kinks to work out (Memorial Day weekend 2022).

We stumbled upon this place and were very happy with our meal. The staff were warm and friendly. We had a few mix ups with service and based on how long it took for our meal (as well as others around us) to arrive, we assumed the kitchen was backed up. That said, we all really enjoyed our dishes, the presentation was done very well. Very interesting flavors and a nice addition to St Michaels dinner options. We look forward to returning

Our family group was very interested in the menu posted on the Plates at 208 website, although without prices. We had sticker shock when we were given menus with prices (see uploaded photos), which, particularly for the main courses, were above those at other local fine-dining venues. The two appetizer Mezzas we ordered were a good mix, but light in each ingredient given the $22 charge. With trepidation at the $45 price, three of us ordered Seafood Tagine, an "assortment of seafood and vegetables . . . served over couscous.” The dishes arrived with rice rather than couscous and 2 shrimp, 2 clams, and 2 mussels. In one of the servings, two mussels and one clam were closed, but served anyway (they were replaced when we pointed this out). A satisfactory dish, albeit with skimpy portions of seafood, but it didn't hold a candle in quantity or quality to significantly lower priced seafood variants we've had at 208 Talbot, Limoncello, and Legal Assets (Limoncello's superb Tuscan seafood stew is $32; Legal Assets superb Seafood Risotto and Asian Noodle Bowl are $32). Again with puzzlement at the $42 pricing, one of us had the Lamb Shank, which was well portioned and very tasty, albeit, again, overpriced in the context of current competition. Appetizer and soup dishes shared by the younger diners among us were well received. We wish the new owners the best, and hope they can figure out the right combination of price point, quality, and quantity. They’re not there yet by a long shot.

A very interesting menu of Mediterranean and Maryland Seafood fusion. We were here for our anniversary and were seated in a private area of the dining room. The waitress was very accommodating and gave us descriptions of the wines and food. The Lebanese wine was extraordinary and the Mediterranean appetizer plate included many delicious flavors of hummus and sauces. I had the crab cake which included two large jumbo lump cakes with wonderfully cooked vegetables in olive oil. My wife had the crusted salmon and the same vegetables. We finished with delicious baklava and the manger brought us a Greek aperitif.

I'm a first timer visiting this Restaurant..Food was best Mediterranean food I've ever had..Been to quit a few in O.C Md. But it topped them all..Great lamb and best martinis by bartender Janann. The chef even stopped by our table to ensure we were happy with our meal.

A family weekend getaway took us to St. Michael’s where we had been on many occasions and typically had dinner at the former 208 Talbot, which had come to disappoint us the last two times we were in town. We chose Plates at 208 for dinner based on recommendations from a friend and it was an unexpected wonderful culinary experience. Located in the same building but with new owners, a fresh clean remodeled space and a menu unlike the other local options. I had the seafood tagine that was bursting with flavor, full of seafood and a hint of spicy heat. My ethnic background makes me typically skeptical of fusion type menus but I found the flavor to be delicious and authentic. My husband had the pork chop that was perfectly cooked and seasoned. And our picky children were treated to a dish of rice and chicken made especially for them by the chef. And the pricing was what is to be expected for a fine dining restaurant and the service was exceptional.

Two issues with this promising new place. First the prices are way above what is reasonable for the restaurant. This is Maryland, not London. $40 entrees is a real reach. Maybe $30, but not $42 for St. Mikes. Second, the concept is very welcome and almost makes it. The tajine is a fake tajine except for the tajine dish on top of the plate. Try harder to be authentic. The food could be really good, but it misses on many items, and the price makes it insulting. ( The “nachos” were tasty and interesting.) The spices are almost completely absent. Again, try harder. We like spices! Moroccan spices! Middle Eastern spices! Greek spices! Let us taste the food! Don’t dumb it down. Especially if you want to attract us at $42/plate. You have so much potential. Try harder. We will try again in a few months. Try harder. Cut the prices. Otolinghi might be a good inspiration.

We just had the best time at Plates at 208!! We were checking out the menu outside when the bartender popped her head out and invited us in. We chatted and laughed with her, the manager, and the chef, off and on, almost the entire time. They were a hoot! We were eventually served the most delicious Mediterranean food. I had the whole snapper, which had been marinated for two days and was perfectly seasoned. I don’t think I’ve ever had fish so flavorful, and I eat a lot of fish. Yum! My husband had the Seafood Tangine. He commented that he would have liked a few more pieces of seafood in the dish, but the overall flavoring was spectacular. Dinner was a WOW for both of us, and we loved meeting the ladies that are making it all happen. We’ll definitely be back the next time we’re in St. Michael!

My husband, who is a chef and I went to Plates at 208 for his birthday dinner. We made our reservation and showed up to be greeted by an amazing, attentive hostess. We were seated in one of the many beautiful dining rooms. The server was with us almost immediately to get our drink orders. Let me say that I am an incredibly picky eater and not knowing what was on the menu, I was a little concerned that I wouldn't find anything I would eat. Boy was I wrong! I had the Sahara chips to start and was just amazed with how delicious they were. My hubby ordered the lentil soup and rice noodle shrimp, they were both absolutely delicious. For my entree I got the filet topped with shrimp and crab, I could not have been more pleased. A perfectly cooked steak, a pile of lump crab meat, a gorgeous presentation. My husband got the lamb shank and it was so tender I don't know how the Chef got the leg bone to stay standing. For dessert we got the baklava cheesecake and the Grand Marnier creme caramel. Everything is 100% fresh made and cooked. I cannot even describe how delicious the fresh, homemade focaccia bread was. The wines we tried were perfectly suggested to pair with our meals. Service was excellent, attentive, polite and professional. They have done a wonderful job creating a Mediterranean meets Maryland menu. I cannot wait to go back.

One of the highlights of our Labor Day holiday weekend trip to St. Michael's was at the new fine dining restaurant, Plates at 208. We were in a seafood kind of mood and very much enjoyed the Pancetta Shrimp Bisque, the Crab Croquettes and the Crab Cake Ladolemono. The owners Raida and Aida, along with their staff have created a memorable unique and distinct Mediterranean culinary experience. We look forward to dining here again!

Ate dinner here Christmas Eve. The food is incredible. Kudos to the chef! He nailed it! Atmosphere is elegant laid back. Fine dining without the need to dress up. Architecture of the three historical establishments turned into one restaurant is eclectic and interesting. Owner has really put a beautiful spin with her decorating choices. Food excellence? TICK. Atmosphere? TICK. Cocktails? TICK . This should be on your St Michael’s restaurant “bucket list”. Seriously, if you are looking for an elegant meal in a relaxed environment—don’t miss this gem.
