Chinese New Years Could Not Have Been Luckier Thanks To Green Bamboo

I thought I had experienced every Asian restaurant in Rockville, Bethesda, and Potomac, Maryland and was about to give up with ridiculously extreme prices. In the last two months I visited four places I always enjoyed and with wine, appetizers and main courses there was not restaurant that came in less than $100. The portions had shrunk as well to extremely small portions with $4 up charges for brown rice. Friends from Hong Kong and Singapore who live locally now kept praising this little “ cafe” on Fischer Lane in Rockville. I finally went and was - sincerely- overwhelmed. We had Bento boxes, chicken curry, soups, salads, and Sakés for under $40. And the quality of the food cooked by the charming chef, Inng, from Hong Kong? Superb!! We even had doggy bags to take home. Our server was Katie who was very attentive, interesting, efficient and when we departed ,when her much appreciated mask came off, she was also beautiful. This is the highlight of Asian dining in Montgomery County, Maryland. Absolutely!!!

Excellent Asian Cuisine!!

One of the most charming and kindly restaurant owners in the whole area must be Katie at Green Bamboo. She is a beautiful young lady and has the time to get to know her customers. Besides the warm and friendly welcome, the food is just great and — affordable. I do not know how they do it. The variety of Asian cuisines is diverse which could spell problems at other places, but whether you choose a Japanese bento box or sushi, or habachi skewers or Chinese , you will be happy, especially if Katie is there.

Pad thai...yum!

We were in a bit of a hurry in the middle of a meeting but were craving for asian food. Well, our waiter completely understood and we had our entrees in no time (i ordered a sweet and sour soup before my beef pad thai)- Everything was well cooked and at a very reasonable price- Kudos to our waiter!

Great place for lunch

They have reasonably priced lunch specials, between $9 and $11. The services is good and fast and the portions are filling. It has plenty of parking around and it is at walking distance from the Twinbrook Metro Station.

Good place for sushi and friends.

OK, by now the word is out: 1/2 price sushi on weekends on "limited" sushi offerings. Even so, figure $20 per person with soup. Not bad when you consider that this is Rockville, and the quality of the food. Seafood soup was very tasty. Filled with seafood. Sort of egg drop on steroids. The noodle soup was also filled with noodles, flavor, and meat/veggies. Hit: #1: Soft shell crab sushi. A must order. Everything else was, as indicated, fresh, tasty, and very enjoyable.

Lunch Time!!!

I work near this restaurant and have been saying I was gonna go for some time now. Probably years. I finally made it today and I’ll be going back often!!! The lunch specials were great. The prices were very reasonable especially for what they offer you. Meal, soup and spring roll!!! Wow!!! I ordered the honey crispy chicken (it was pretty good, I’m just not that big on chicken) the green salad was good, I loved the sweet and sour soup and the spring roll. Service was good also. My new lunch spot!!! Lol!

Work break lunch

I took my dad here during my work lunch break. The service is quick and they have a great variety of cooked food and sushi on the lunch menu. Their lunch specials are also fantastic prices. The food cake our quickly and tastes very good. I've gone here twice for lunch and once for dinner, and even ordered take out once. I'll definitely keep this as one of my "go to" places during lunch time! Go early to avoid the crowds that arrive closer to 12:30!

We had bento boxex for lunch. The miso soup was not good, and the salad was no better. But the box itself was decent, with good variety and everything was edible. Service was fine. The price was low, and that was the saving grace.

Half Price 🍣 Sushi Rolls, Baby!

We come here frequently, we live about 15 minutes away, and honestly we only come for the happy hour time. Or the weekends, because the sales are so good. Half-price sushi rolls for a family where every single person eat sushi; that's the way to do it! The service is very very fast, extremely courteous, not over-the-top but simple and respectful. Restaurant is very clean. We have probably been 15 times and it is consistent. The sushi is four out of five stars, not the best we've ever had, but it's very very good. Highly recommend.

Green Bamboo is for real

We happened to come across the Green Bamboo Asian Bistro a few weeks ago and enjoyed a good lunch. So we brought the family tonight to see if our fine experience was but a mere fluke; it was not. The place was packed with a long waiting line (so long, in fact, that many were impatient and left.) Even though we had called in to reserve a table for five at 7 PM, we didn't get seated for at least 20 minutes. Once seated, however, we did not have long to wait for our miso soup and sushi dinner. There were at least 5 chefs, no wonder they could get our sushi and bento box to us so quickly. One reason for the packed house has to do with the pricing of sushis at 50% less on week-ends. We took advantage of the special pricing and ordered 6 sushi rolls (some with fancy names like Angry Dragon, Maryland Roll, Volcano Roll), which were all delicious. So was my Salmon Bento box. I asked each table mate to rate the restaurant/food and the ratings went from 4 to 4 & ¾ stars. Mention must be made of the young servers, who were courteous and attentive and swift on their feet, and of the fact that the establishment took pride in the preparation and presentation of their food. We shall definitely return.
