Rockville restaurant specializing in dim sum that used to be a mainstay in Rosslyn, Va. The typical dim sum dishes are tasty and temperature is all good. However, the dishes on the push carts were disappointingly lacking the higher priced dishes offered at other area dim sum places, such as clams w/black bean sauce, Chinese broccoli, roast duck, beef chow fun, etc. I also was craving for pork congee but mine was offered. Interestingly, one cart had mango bubble tea which you don’t see everyday. There is free validated parking at an outdoor lot across the street. On weekends, this place is always packed and you might expect a 20-30 min wait.

It's hard to find good dim sum in Maryland so we were so glad to find out about China Garden. They have plenty of options and they are cooked well. They key though to good dim sum is that it must be served hot. The turnip cake, which is my favorite, was already on the cold side. Tasted fine but it would have been better if served hot. One of the best things on the menu is their crab balls. You gotta try it. I also wish we didn't have to drive more than an hour away just to satisfy our dim sum cravings... Oh well... They do serve dim sum all day and night which you won't find in other places that serve dim sum in Maryland.

This reminds of their OG Rosslyn location. Highly ceilings and large tables for dim sum brunch or wedding parties. I've stopped by twice recently and this has become my new favorite dim sum spot in the area. It definitely gets packed on the weekends so I recommend coming here early. Textures and flavors here are on point. I always have to order shumai, ribs, turnip cakes, green beans, stream shrimp rice crepe rolls, har gow, and egg tarts. Food always comes out piping hot. If you want anything thats not on the carts you can also order a la carte as well during dim sum hours. Service here is on point. Our drinks and silverware were constantly getting refilled. Parking can be tight on the weekends, but theres plenty of street or garage parking up the street.

Absolutely not! Anyone considering this restaurant should avoid it at all cost. The food here is not very good, but the service is even worse! My family and I came here for dim sum. 45 minutes in, only one cart had come by and our waiter was nowhere to be seen. We eventually get food but most of the good items are already sold out. We even had to clean and bus our own tables. We were told we could not order from the menu for dim sum items, but after letting one of the other waiters know we had been waiting for almost an hour at that point, she allowed us to put in an order of dim sum. 25 minutes later, the food came and we were done with this place. I spoke to the waitress and she said that they are severely understaffed. There seems to be no system of where the dim sum carts go. I told her I wanted to speak to the manager but she mentioned if I were to say anything, she would have gotten in trouble. I'm hoping the owner or managers are reading this. Your service is horrible. Create a system that works for your employees so that they're not scrambling all over the place. Of course our bill had the 18% tip included. I was incredibly tempted to remove it but waitress I was speaking to genuinely felt bad. To top it off, our original waiter never came back to our table.

In the second Saturday evening of June, we celebrated my granddaughter’s Birthday at Han Gong. We ordered five dishes of dim sum and four dishes for six people. Four dishes are Peking Duck half (半隻北京烤鴨)、Filet Mignon China Garden Style (牛柳粒)、Braised Snow Pea Sprouts (豆苗)、Fish Fillets in XO sauce (XO 醬炒魚片)and Stir-Fried Double Seafood with seasonal vegetable(時菜炒雙鮮).

Very good and decent dim sum. They surely did not scrimp on size because they were huge. Ha kaw, siomai, taro puff, radish cake, shrimp crepe, rice soup and roast duck!! All good. I wish we were more coz 2 people can only eat so much. Very very good! I wish I discovered you earlier. Now am leaving!!

My family heard about this Dim Sum anytime restaurant, and the place met our expectations of tasty food, good service, and a good ambiance. We ordered most of the dishes from the dim sum menu. Everything came out fast and hot. The service was excellent. There were many servers tending to all our requests. The restaurant is great for large parties. We will return for more dim sum.

We made reservations for 20 people banquets to celebrate 80 birthday and paid $1200 check or cash only for two tables. My daughter in law had food poisoning that night and stayed in emergency the next following day. The first dish was seafood soup with little few chopped shrimps and msg. The second one , a combined roasted pork, pig and duck dish, each only 10 pieces and duck with most of skin and bone (looked like leftover). The rest of dishes were for 5 or 6 people except fis and lobster noodle.

This was a real surprise, serving up delicious dim sum made with care and excellent accompanying dishes. Good service and free parking across the street (bring your ticket to be authenticated) make this a first class dining destination.

The best dim sum I’ve had in a long time. Very generous portions and dumplings stuffed with large pieces of meat. Service typical of a dim sum place.

I went to China Garden for lunch with two Chinese friends and feasted on authentic dimsum, congee rice, greens and a tofu dessert. It was fabulous and inexpensive. If you like dimsum, this is the place. Come with a big appetite and a large group. That way you can share the large portions. The restaurant is huge. You can park free at a nearby parking lot if you validate your ticket at the front of the restaurant. Do a little research. It helps to know the Cantonese names of the delicacies you want to order. Go early to avoid the crowds.

This China Garden Restaurant or known as “China Garden Han Gong” is situated on the corner of Woodglen Drive and Executive Blvd in Rockville MD across the street from the Whole Food Supermarket. This upscale place serves some of the most delicious authentic Cantonese dishes in the area. For example, steamed oysters, deep fried prawns with minced garlic, steak cubes with broccoli, etc. just to name a few. The restaurant is clean, spacious and lights are well lit. There is even a giant size entertainment screen monitor that was playing pop music at the time when we were there. As a customer, you can even park in a nearby parking lot for free for up to 2 hours which is a good deal since parking space is a premium in this area. Service is impeccable with waitresses and waiters that know how to cater their customers. They can even speak in both Mandarin and Cantonese dialects. Prices are fairly average for normal upscale restaurants.

Went on a Thursday night around 7 PM and only about 4 or other tables occupied, and I can understand why. Ordered a lamb casserole dish that was a major mistake Pieces of lamb in it were far less than amount of bones that I ended up discarding when chewing. The lamb was tasteless, as well, as was some shrimp lo mein my son ordered. My wife had duck that was fatty and plain too. We ordered tea and received a pot of hot water that had a gross color to it and on top of that some woman employee who was not our waiter attempted to take my plate away before I was finished struggling with my order. The restaurant is way oversized and glitzy for a Chinese restaurant and I doubt they will ever fill it. I would be shocked if it's around in 6 months or less

We came a little after lunch hour on a Thursday and perhaps that was the reason why it was fairly empty. Besides, it is a fairly large restaurant. We therefore had no trouble getting seated. Dim sum are served from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. We found them to be very tasty. Service was good, and the place was clean. I give it a score of 4 1/2, with the slight deduction from the constant clanking noise caused by the air conditioner blowing the crystal in the light fixtures.
