We went recently for breakfast. It was a rainy weekday morning and the place didn’t seem busy, but in the time of COVID-19, that’s a good thing. Food and service was exceptional. One of us had oatmeal, which came with fruit, raisins and brown sugar....One had bacon and eggs and another had eggs on hash. Coffee was excellent but the fresh squeezed orange juice made my day. Food is pricey, but we enjoyed every bite.More

Tonight my husband, 20 year old son, and I went here for dinner. We had reserved a table outside and enjoyed sitting in the cool evening eating, people watching and commenting on some of the nice cars going by. For the meal my husband had...meatloaf, mashed potatoes, and beans. He said the mashed potatoes were pretty good. I had the chicken and waffles. The outside of the fried chicken is so good! The mac and cheese that comes with it is really the best! My husband and I thought the green beans were just a bit too crunch for our taste. I believe my son enjoyed his hamburger. I know he loved my mac and cheese! Just beyond the restaurant is a beautiful courtyard with a fire pit, flowers, and fountains. I'll have to go back when it's just my hubby so we can sit and enjoy that area.More

Everything we ordered was pretty good - biscuits as appetizer, prime rib (although could have been a bit less salty), southern fried chicken (pieces were a bit small), mac and cheese, mashed potatoes (the two of these together add up to a good bit of...food), asparagus, vanilla ice cream, death by chocolate. The lemonade could have been less sweet and more tart to fit our tastes. Service was very attentive and food showed up very quickly. It was a bit pricey, midrange food at fairly high prices, so I downgrade on value. Also, the room was rather warm, and I needed the ice in the lemonade to cool off. I would he happy to return but not in the summer.More

It was our first time here, and all three of us loved our meals! My wonderful husband ordered ribeye and said it was cooked perfectly (medium) with potato latkes and asparagus as sides. My teenage daughter ordered chicken and waffles and said the chicken was...crunchy, and the homemade syrup and butter were excellent. I ordered the cedar plank salmon with an apricot glaze, and it was melt-in-my-mouth delicious (with green beans and mashed potatoes as sides.) I want to try and replicate the glaze at home — Yum! Our server was attentive but not hovering over us. We will definitely be back!More

We heard about Founding Farmer's restaurant and decided to try for breakfast during a recent visit to the city. The menu is large just about anything you'd want for an early start. I tried the Founding Farmer's Breakfast with 2 eggs, hash browns, bacon and...a biscuit. The biscuits are so good-worth going back just for them. The jelly is like homemade and oozes down the side of biscuits. We also tried the oatmeal, which was part quinoa. An interesting combination. After two visits, we went back for more. This will be our go to spot for dining during our next trip.More

We REALLY like the food at Founding Farmers (and love the distilled rye that is their own brand). The fried green tomatoes are always a good choice, as is the fried chicken, and I usually love the fish of the day. There are booths or...tables (both are comfortable); servers are knowledgeable and friendly. The only problem we have is the noise level is really high. We eat here with my parents sometimes and no one can hear one another. It doesn't take very many tables to produce a very high volume of noise across the entire restaurant. I don't know that anything can be done to address this -- it's the only restaurant we have ever had this issue in.More

We interrupted the front desk’s argument to request a table outside - the chap went outside to check then disappeared - we sat down anyway. Server was all over the place , just didn’t know her job. And then some of what we ordered came...out..:And it wasn’t busy. Food was actually okay. My sense is that management is not sharp. There are better options on the front next to the river. And don’t go ordering something you may like - such as a different spirit in a cocktail - “does not compute!” And “computer says no!” Etc. Will not go back - would not recommend.More

Ordered the ribs, collards, latkes and was underwhelmed. I asked the waiter what he would recommend between the signature meatloaf, brisket and pork bbq Signature entrees He recommended the ribs over all the others, so went with his recommendation......well the ribs were parboiled reheated.Collards were...uneventful with little flavor and the latkes were over cooked and stiff. I was disappointed to say the least in that the prior meals here were the opposite. Fresh, well prepared and walked out wanting to come back. In fact we drove 40 minutes to meet family for my birthday dinner at my pick for dinner! The other members of our party enjoyed their chicken and fish and chips, but the waiter never brought the beer that is a part of the fish and chips dinner and never refilled our water bottle or glasses. once again, underwhelmed.More
