We stayed at the East Close hotel and had a three course meal included in the package. The service was very good but as the hotel reception is inside the restaurant we felt a bit lost when we arrived for dinner as we didn't really know where to go and did not want to just take a seat. Food was... More

We have just had the most terrible experience at this hotel today when we arrived for my dads wake. They denied any knowledge of the booking so no room or food and drink were ready. Very distressing. Do not use this hotel.

Went to the New Year's Eve event. The staff were fantastic, very friendly and efficient. Food was disappointing. Terrine was tasty but served with two lumps of slightly stale bread and chutney - no finesse at all. The fish was OK but a little dry and was served with broccoli and a couple of very small potatoes. It needed a... More

First visit to this hotel and was very impressed. Beautiful surroundings and friendly, professional staff. We had a "Yuletide Afternoon Tea" with the highlight, of course, being the visit to see Santa in his Grotto. The children were in awe and it was a truly magical experience. Would certainly recommend it.

For several years we have enjoyed their set Christmas lunch, but this year they appear to have been cutting costs. Perhaps the hotel has a new owner or new management/chef in the Conqueror restaurant. Instead of sliced turkey breast they now use reformed meat, lacking in texture and taste. Everything had a reheated appearance. The potatoes, while crisp, which is... More

We stayed with another couple for one of their Christmas party nights. The food was of an excellent standard which was accompanied by a very prompt efficient service. The staff were all very friendly and attentive. The disco was also of a high standard with request sheets left on our table so everyone attending the dinner dance had chance to... More

We drive past here often but have never eaten so decided to go last night (Saturday night) and did not book. There were only 4 groups in there, including us, so practically dead which suits us fine. Unfortunately they were out of the only starter we wanted, which was a little surprising given that there was no one in there... More

Good atmosphere and friendly staff. Been here before and am pleased with the level of cooking at lunchtime. We had Fish and Chips and it was properly cooked without excess oil and the batter was light. Shame that it was not more frequented by the locals or passing motorists on this A road.

Came here on 6.11.16 for family lunch . Table was booked for 1.30pm for party of 5 . When we arrived , we were asked to sit in the bar and wait for our table . We went to order drinks at the bar but no one was there . We were told by two young girls someone would serve... More

So I've been to The Conqueror before and really enjoyed the meal we had. BUT and notice it's a big one, today was an entirely different experience. We booked a table online for 1330 and arrive at 1320 to be told we had to wait so we took a seat in the bar area for about 15 minutes. Finally went... More

The Conqueror Inn, Eastclose Hotels principal restaurant serves traditional British and European cuisine. Blending Georgian opulence with a cool, contemporary twist. Not simply a comfortable, welcoming place to stay, we are a destination for discerning diners and a unique venue for weddings and special celebrations. Set in 18 acres of beautiful parkland, this boutique hotel has long provided a place of relaxation and inspiration for guests. In fact one of them, author Lewis Carroll, is rumoured to have created his tales of a certain young Alice after hearing of her adventures in the enchanting walled garden, croquet lawn and under the giant beech tree.
