This restaurant was just average. Staff was ok...not too friendly just working. A bit over priced for a medium place....s They displayed a special and then said it was take out only....was not listed that way

We were spending two nights in Oxford, Md and wanted to enjoy the wonderful seafood that the Chesapeake Bay has to offer. We had read good reviews about Pope's Tavern so were looking forward to a good meal. We were shown to our seat without so much as a "how are you?" or "your waitress will be right with you".... More

We returned to Pope's Tavern on our most recent trip to MD. As usual we enjoyed the meal and had a pre-dinner drink at the small but friendly bar. Service is excellent as is the food.

We like to visit this restaurant every year when we spend a weekend in the late fall in Oxford. The food is truly exceptional - my favorite is the duck with a silky demi-glace and delicious potatoes shaped into a pear. Their lobster bisque is to die for. Hope they always keep these dishes on the menu!

Great meal - great value! Had an early Sunday dinner that was very well prepared. Creative, fresh, well presented food. Rockfish was perfectly cooked, pork with sweet potato tater tots was amazing. The crab was clearly true Maryland crab (you can tell by the color and taste) Homemade peach pie was delicious. $99 very well spent - apps, drinks, entrees... More

This was the second restaurant we visited in Oxford and our dining experience was a good one. We were worried that we were the only ones in the dining room, but did hear some voices coming from the other side of the bar area so assume others were present. The menu is quite limited and that could be a challenge,... More

We were a group of ten and made reservations. We were seating "behind the velvet curtain" in our own private room. The food was fantastic. Crab souffle was great, soft shell crabs were very good. Service was par. The restroom needs some serious updating.

Popes was a favorite waterman's watering hole while Mr. Pope ran it. It has been successfully transformed into an upscale neighborhood restaurant with an eclectic menu. Someone went to France to learn how to do duck breasts! The best.

We have eaten at Pope's on several occasions and have always enjoyed our visit. Great Pub food in a quaint relaxing atmosphere. One of Oxford's best venues !
