All four of us were blown away at how good the food was. The "Everything" encrusted salmon and the large filet mignon were two of the best dishes I've ever tasted, anywhere! Our server, Loren, was the best! Fast friendly, funny, and knowledgeable! We'll be...asking for her we go back! We've eaten at Sunset Grille many times and it always impresses. This time the food set a new high and Loren made this our best experience yet!More

Wanted a nice dinner out while spending several days in Ocean City. Sunset Grille was beyond our expectations. From the moment our server, Gregg approached our table and began his presentation, we knew we were in for a fine dining experience. We ordered the cheddar...rolls to as an appetizer and they were mouth watering and delicious. I had the cobb salad which was enough to feed 4 people and my husband had the crab cakes which he devoured. We thought we had saved room for dessert but when the brownie sundae arrived, i thought it was a joke. It was large enough to feed a family..we did our best though. Kudos to Gregg..he deserves 5 stars for his professionalism and attention to detail. Would highly recommend Sunset Grille.More

WE decided to go here on a recommendation from local Hotel, and seen the reviews on Trip advisor looks like a sure bet. Where do we start. A margarita with out the salt on the rim, and was told by our waitress it must melt...into the drink ,NOT , u could taste the salt already IN the drink. and waitress was nasty about taking it back to put salt on the rim- Mojo with brownish mint leaves in my drink (lack of mint taste in drink) . Now the main course Crab Patty was just a WHOLE soft shelled crab thrown into fry grease- so not a lot taste there. Veggie -was asparagus ,was good- Wife had Blacken shrimp was serve with a burnt piece of garlic toast- veggie was mashed sweet potatoes-was good. With all the great reviews we thought would be a pleasant dining experience- but food was below par for the price and the drinks were made by a nine year old - wait staff was nasty and abrupt . Must have been bad night for cook the bartender and the waitress - be careful in the off season , price doesn't always equal quality . Will not ever return-and do not recommendMore

Our second visit this year and we weren't disappointed with the food or ambiance. We sat in the indoor patio (late October too cold for outdoor dining) and loved the view. The first time we had read the menu online prior to arriving and went...specifically at dinner for a sandwich item we wanted to try. It wasn't on the menu we were given, though. When we asked we were told it was on the "all day" menu which apparently you have to request (we were given only the dinner menu). This time we knew to ask for that menu as it again wasn't provided when we sat down. All that aside, the food was great (shrimp salad wrap, chicken quesadilla, crab chowder), the view was great and the staff very attentive. We will be returning the next time we are in Ocean City in 2023.More

We dined here at the recommendation of our friend we were visiting. We were seated immediately for our 5pm reservation with a nice water front view. Our server was excellent. She didn’t rush us between apps, drinks, and entrees which allowed us to talk uninterrupted....We started with the crab dip which was loaded with crab and delicious . Our entrees were two salmon dinners and and the Chesapeake chicken. All of our dinners were first rate. The Chesapeake chicken was crowned with crab, cheese and a grain mustard glaze. We were so full we had to pass on desserts and coffee. We will definitely dine here again when in the area and highly recommend dining here.More

Sunset Grille has the best soft shell crab sandwiches! A must visit when I’m visiting Ocean City. The atmosphere is nice and suitable for couples, families, and groups. Dining on the “porch” is especially nice as it offers views of the boats leaving and returning...to the marina. Highly recommend.More

Our first visit to Ocean City so no knowledge of "...where for dinner...." Between Trip Advisor, several local blogs and recommendation of concierge, Sunset it was. Planned early dinner and got in just before the locals started arriving (always a good sign). We tended towards...dishes with seafood featuring crab and were not in any way disappointed. Whereas many restaurants are going "meager" or surcharge for dishes with crab, Sunset provided ample amounts in both the cream of crab soup and the entrees. Our server, Gabriel, was very helpful with the menu, suggestions and timely in every regards. Dinner, location, ambiance all were a set up for fondly remembered experience at SunSet.More

This review is long overdue. Our large group of two families with young adult children and their friends, had a reservation for August 7th at 7:15pm. We were very excited for this evening, as “the kids” are best friends and no longer get to see...one another very often, due to moving for jobs after college. Because of our large group and the fact that we knew it would be one of their busiest nights of the year (The White Marlin Open), I made a reservation for 11 ppl on June 22nd, which was 6 1/2 weeks ahead. My reservation for the requested "tent" area was confirmed. This area allows for beautiful views of the boats in the marina. We actually had two of the tournament participants among us. Closer to the date, we thought that we might have 14 people. I called and the reservation was increased without a problem. On the evening of our dinner, we all arrived at our appointed time. There were actually 13 vs 14. Having worked in many restaurants, I typically always inform a restaurant of any change in party size, but I knew that our number would not affect the table size. We were told to wait. The bar area was packed and it was difficult to find anywhere to stand or to get a drink. A few of us finally managed to get drinks for everyone. More and more time continued to pass. We approached the hostess stand at least 3 times. On the final trip to check on our reservation, one of the many hostesses behind the desk said "You want to know what happened? I will tell you what happened! The owner of the marina wanted your table!” Unbelievable. They asked, "Do you want to be seated indoors? No we did not. More time went by and they said, "we will give you free appetizers and seat you in another area with a view". This is now an hour later. We go to a table upstairs. We are in a very congested walkway. Servers are having a difficult time getting by. Our table is for 8 people, instead of 13. There is a large white structure behind us and we have no view to speak of. I went down twice to inform the hostess stand that we needed another table. Those stationed at the front desk had absolutely no urgency whatsoever to get us seated adequately. Finally a somewhat nearby table left and we went and initiated bringing the table over. We are now at our "wits end". An unlucky server had the misfortune of being sent to our table. We were never offered the complementary appetizers. This was likely not our servers fault, who probably wasn’t informed of the offer made by the host stand (very poor). I would think that offering a complementary drink during our long wait would have also been the prudent thing to do. We spent a total of $957.52, plus drinks at the bar, on this most unprofessional debacle. We tipped our server very generously, as she did the best she could in very unfortunate circumstances. I would expect that most people in our situation would not do so. We did not want her to “pay the price” for the actions of her place of business. I immediately sent an email the following day to a manager. I never heard a word until a week later. The only thing that this manager said was that she was sorry....but it was a super-busy weekend. Yes, we knew that was going to be the case, thus our planning far ahead. She did offer a $100 credit if we would bring in the email. By that time, we were home from our vacation. She did not address one single unacceptable issue that I mentioned above or take any responsibility. She also said that they don't take reservations for 12 people or more during this busy time. But they did!! This was not OUR problem. Our families are both successful business owners. We were incredulous at the restaurant’s lack of professionalism. Supposedly, their owner was the 2015 Ocean City Restauranteur of the Year. We thought that he might be interested to hear what happened (assuming he wasn't aware). We sent a registered letter to him. It was accepted by another individual at the property. We never heard a word from the owner. We are so very saddened that one of the establishments that we have always enjoyed, and been very good patrons of, would treat us in such an unacceptable and unprofessional manner, from start to finish. We will not be back. Of course, they clearly do not care. I try to write reviews, in order to help others. Please check my profile and you will see that they are overwhelmingly, extremely positive. This is due to the fact that we do rely on Trip Advisor and patronize restaurants and hotels that receive great reviews. Let me reiterate that we were not looking for complementary items. We simply wanted the restaurant to take responsibility and acknowledge that they botched our evening, along with a sincere no-excuses apology. Everything in this review is 100% accurate.More

We sat outside on a nice night so the view was perfect. The food was tasty and my drink was just how I like it.!service was great and well paced. I’d heard from a friend that visited last fall that she was disappointed. Not sure...if that was covid related, but if there was a problem, it’s been remedied. At least based on my visit. Will go again!More

The food was good. Four couples each split the crab and ham over vegetable orzo. It was good but there was not more than one thin little tiny bite sized piece of ham in each dish. It was at least entertaining bc we were all...trying to find our token piece of ham. Misleading to say the least. There was a very nice amount of lump crab meat in the dish. It had good flavor. The waitress was spread mighty thin. They brought all our soups out after our entrees which was very frustrating! When we asked a server if he could take a few dishes back, he rolled his eyes like, who me? Servers should be required to take dishes back. That helps the patrons and the waitresses. We were a party of nine. With the prices we paid for dinner, we thought charging five dollars a serving for bread was a bit much. That would have cost our table around twenty dollars. Desserts were good! This is a very nice restaurant and getting help is tough, but these are a few things that need to be tweaked!More

I so wanted to love Sunset Grill but it was a disappointment. We made reservations the day before (can’t get in without them). We arrived early and I’m glad we did, as parking is nearly impossible. Luckily a couple that was out fishing was leaving...one of the sandy spots that’s not part of the restaurant parking. There were no restaurant parking spots left. We were promptly seated once we checked in with the hostesses. Our server was polite but not friendly. I ordered the halibut ($40) and hubby ordered the crab cakes ($48). Prices are VERY high and don’t include a side salad or even bread, like at other fine dining restaurants. Both have to be ordered separately and are even more $$. With that said, the crab cake dinner is delicious. Whereas my halibut was very disappointing, as it was overcooked. Halibut, when cooked properly, melts in your mouth. My halibut was steaky, like a tuna. That is an indication that it’s overcooked. The meal also lacked flavor. Based on the cost of everything, we didn’t order dessert. Next time I’d consider heading to their outdoor bar, where they sell more moderately priced dishes.More

Recently I gave my Hubby a 70th Birthday Celebration. This venue was OUTSTANDING! All 32 participates raved about the food and the services. They coudn't get over how efficient the waitress Lauren was. (In fact some of the participates left extra gratuity, she was worth...more than the 20%). The food was the best and everything was prepared perfectly. Some of the outer towners even ordered food to go from the restaurant. If you're planning a destination celebration please consider the Sunset Grill, they will provide you with more bang for your buck. A very special Thank You, to Patti & Kurt.More

Excellent , our group was seated by the marina , their we were also greeted by the manager who was a very pleasant person “ from the Pittsburgh area “. When we were talking and one of our guests stated that he was also in...the industry , we were given one of his best servers. Anyway We started with some Mahi Mahi fingers and the seared ahi tuna which were delicious and prepared perfectly. Our main entrees consisted of fliet mignon ,crab cakes and poached shrimp. Crab cakes melted in your mouth , the filet was seasoned just right along with the shrimp . Let’s just say we were pleased with everything, the service the food and the price . You get what you pay for and as for the sunset grill it was worth the money.More
