This is what it is, a seasonal, local seafood joint. We ate local - crab soup, broiled rockfish and crab cakes. Sir William delivered with a generous portion of soup, a nice balance of vegetables and crab, with just enough Old Bay. My partner felt the premium crab cakes were worth the investment (2 for $37 - ouch), and my hats off to the chef, the broiled rockfish was flaky and tender. Our server Amanda was a delight, she circled around to ensure we were happy, but not overbearing. The sunset and waterfront dining came with the price. This experience is why I love Maryland.

If you're traveling down 301 and need a good seafood meal, very reasonably priced, with excellent friendly service right on the Potomac River, this is the spot for you! We had delicious fried soft shell crabs and fried oysters. Less than 5 min detour from your drive - and choose seating outdoors even if hot. Fans and shade made even 90 degrees enjoyable.

Sorry to say but they’ve seen their day. Tough to be in the seafood restaurant business when there isn’t much seafood 🦀 to be had! Pretty bland tasting food all-around. Building in decay as are the docks. Glad to have had the “onetime experience”.

Well this was the worse seafood ever. I live in-land and my husband works at a restaurant and gets the exact same shrimp at home and it is very much frozen. We get better at home at Fisherman's Dock where it's town with no water in site and it's better than this one that sets right on the water and you get out of the box frozen seafood . The steamed shrimp was more like boiled to death shrimp and tastes just like mud. And the service was very bad. The server took forever to get us started with drinks and our appetizer came after our food came. We didn't get but one refill on our $2.49 soda. When our food came out the server never came back to check on us. After we tried to eat we could immediately tell that it was not good and we sat for over 30 min waiting for her to return to the table. When she finally came to ask if I was good. I told her that the food was not good, she took the food and gave me a bill for one meal plus the drinks. $26.00 was the bill and I still feel like she should have took it all off. So if you are looking for a frozen high price dinner- this is your spot. We will never go back. Stay away from the food and just go for the view.

Went in with total of 4 people....that saying 20.00 for a fried shrimp dinner that had 7 shrimp not worth it. They auto gratuity after a total of 150.00
Split it over 2 cards 130.94. Server then filled out the tip before bringing the slips to table for 23.70..to my knowledge its illegal to fill out a customer slip. Won't go back ever.

Had a late afternoon dinner with family here and the food was excellent. Sat inside but bythe windows and we were treated to a spectacular sunset as our part dined on Fresh Crab Legs, Crab Cakes, & Shrimp. Everything was perfectly cooked and seasoned. Our drinks were made to order and we really enjoyed ourselves. We drove an hour outside of DC to visit family nearby and the setting and food was just as they told us Very good.

Just moved to the area, visited twice, servers and staff very friendly, food has been consistently first rate. We had corn fritters as an appetizer, haddock/oyster mixed basket and crab cake sandwich. Enjoyed the spectacular views, were encouraged to take a walk on the dock surrounding the restaurant. Locals and tourists were in the house. This will be our go to waterfront restaurant.

Returning home to Maryland after a long road trip. Google maps search popped up this hidden gem on the eastern shore of the Potomac. Basic no frills and friendly seafood stop, right on the water.
Killer sunset, wish it had been warmer, the view from the deck must be amazing.
Lump crab cake dinners were massive and delicious. Two crab cakes, each took one home for another meal! Definitely worth the drive “ off the beaten path”!!

My husband and I decided to go to Captaun Billy's for lunch. It was delicious! We started with very hot and crunchy hush puppies. Then we had coleslaw that was tasty without a ton of mayonnaise. For our meals, my husband had cream of crab soup and I had haddock. His bowl of soup was huge and flavorful. My haddock had a small amount of breading and had a nice crunch.
I'm looking forward to our next visit!

While traveling from Virginia to Maryland, we were looking for a restaurant not too far off the main road that served crab cakes. Captain Billy's was close to the highway and the lump crab cakes were excellent!!

Best flavored crab cake we enjoyed during the entire trip up north. Also had a basket of fried oysters and fried soft shells. Love going here to eat when in town.

Dropped by on our way and enjoyed the service, food and setting. Every other table was used to provide space. The server was pleasant and attentive. Only regret was that the patio was not open - next time.

We went there after many years away from the area and found that it had become really bad. The only good thing was the water views. Being a crab house the crab cakes were their specialty, so my wife and I both ordered the crab cake dinner. They were worse than the frozen ones from the supermarket. They didn't even look like crab cakes. They looked like they were something from a can that was run through a mix master with some old bay added. Greasy and somewhat burned in cooking. Never again

Happened upon this gem in Maryland. We were traveling through the area and got there for dinner right as the sun was setting over the Potomac River. We enjoyed outside dining on soft shell crabs, crab soup and crab stuffed shrimp. Very family friendly. Thoroughly enjoyed our evening at Captain Billy’s!
