Our family ate at Bolder for dinner with teenagers. I am a vegetarian and was pleased with the variety of items on their menu. The stuffed zucchini was excellent. Our party tried a variety of entrees including burgers, shrimp & grits, and cornbread chicken. Each dish was attractive and tasty. We tried the strawberry nachos for dessert and it was a hit! They are a must-try! The prices are reasonable for older children that you know will actually eat the food. I will be eating at Bolder again!

Though we have had some so-so experiences here recently, today's brunch was excellent. Eggs Benedict were very well prepared - eggs poached properly, thick sliced Canadian bacon, way better than average home fries and my wife's short ribs were moist and tender and a generous serving. Served with subbed home fries for grits along with eggs, it made for a hearty meal. Was today so much better because the manager, Ellie, was there? Could be and would hope to see her often if that's the case.

I'll start with positive- we had a great waiter and my partner enjoyed his steak. I ordered the shrimp linguine and I won't rate it because I'm not sure if it's meant to be that way but the sauce was so heavy and rich I could only eat about 1/3rd of it. The brownie sundae was delicious. Negative- much confusion at the hostess stand. There was a party of 5 that came in ahead of us and two younger girls at hostess stand. I'm not sure what they were doing but eventually they sat them outside. We had reservations and asked for a table outside. One girl said she would check and went outside. Another girl came and asked to help I said we had reservations and wanted to sit outside. She said there aren't any tables. The other girl came in and said there's one table but the other girl sat us inside. Whatever, we sat inside. A couple came in without reservations as we were sitting down asked to be sat outside and were led out. There is way too much going on at hostess stand, they are checking in people, getting takeout orders, and the 2 wait staff kiosks are all crowded in one space.

I hate to write a positive review of this restaurant because it may encourage even more diners to come to this already popular and crowded restaurant. We dined here recently and had a great meal which was served in a timely manner despite the restaurant being full. Service was great as well. We look forward to our next visit!

This place is doing itself a disservice by not promoting the bar area. Six of us made our 1st trip here for happy hour and loved the small bar with the unique seating area along the far wall where we settled in for about 3 hours. They had $ 4 domestic drafts, Coors Light and Yuengling as well as surprisingly $2 Natural Light cans. Overall, they had about 8 beers on tap and plenty of others in bottles. There were also wine and drink specials as well as a happy hour food menu. My honey Thai chicken tenders were very good with a sauce that had a little kick, and my wife liked the steamed shrimp while the naked chicken wings got high marks. The outside patio area off the bar also looked very inviting. We have bypassed Boulder for years, partly because of the perception of an overpriced restaurant when there are no prices listed on the website menu. All 6 of us thought that way but now we know of the casualness, wonderful little bar and reasonable happy hour pricing, there will definitely be a 2nd trip. Shannon, who was our bartender, waitress, server, you name it, was outstanding.

The service was lousy, the drinks were WAY overpriced, the beef was raw. Nothing good to say about our recent visit. We were bragging to friends about how good this place was and boy were we all let down in high fashion. Don't think our former favorite place will see us again any time soon

Recently drove out from Frederick for brunch here the Sunday following Thanksgiving. Perhaps because of the holiday/travel day, it wasn't very busy at noon. We enjoyed some great drinks and sizeable portions. And one thing that caught my attention was how COLD the draft beer was...wow! Rare to find good draft beer that is ice cold. Kudos there! The food was very tasty, staff was friendly without being intrusive and I'd definitely eat here again.

Had wanted to experience Bolder dining for some time and this heightened our disappointment. Considering the price point of this restaurant, it's one of the weakest dining experiences we have had in ages. We should have heeded the recent negative reviews. Chicken tenders (nothing special), Seafood Tuscany (tasteless sauce), 144 steak sandwich (worse), Bolder linguini (not worth finishing). The server, Chloe, was efficient, professional, and pleasant. We won't return here again.

We’ve moved to the area almost a year ago and were very happy that there is a more upscale restaurant close by. We’ve been eating in and do take out a lot since November and even tho we had problems but nothing like my last meal. After eating here pretty much weekly they still don’t seem to recognize us. Several times we got our order messed up, we got ignored at the entrance, we got treated rudely on the phone…. But my take out salad had actually rotten cucumbers and lettuce and a moldy strawberry on it yesterday. Since they are closed today, I cannot even take it back. I know it’s a cliché but they just lost a really good customer.

I visited Bolder on my way home to Towson from Western Maryland. It was early afternoon on a Saturday and I decided to have lunch. I was greeted by the friendly hostess and chose a seat in the lounge. It was quiet and not busy at that hour. The dining room, lounge and bathroom were all spotlessly clean and well maintained. I enjoyed looking over the menu and selected an interesting turkey and brie sandwich with sliced apple. It came from the kitchen promptly and was served with house made potato chips. I enjoyed them both and washed them down with an ice cold O'Doul's served in a frosted glass. The wait staff was courteous, friendly and attentive. My visit to Bolder was definitely a positive experience and I plan to visit again.

Living in Damascus, MD, there are no good restaurants in town. But just 15-20 mins up the road in Mt. Airy is this lovely little spot with an outdoor patio that serves wonderful food. Whether you are going for brunch (Eggs benedict Maryland-style with crab cakes and fried green tomatoes? yes please!), lunch, happy hour, or dinner, the food is consistently very good.

First time here. I thought Bolder had an interesting menu with a number of things I wanted to try. I had the cheesy shrimp pasta and it was tasty. Everything other folks had was also very good. Restaurant reminded me of Iron Bridge. We went Saturday for a late lunch and the place was very quiet.

The staff and service at Bolder is amazing! We are from New York and we’e looking for delivery to our dear friend in Mt Airy. The staff was extremely helpful, kind and compassionate. I am thankful for their efforts, assistance and generosity under challenging circumstances. Next time we are in Mt. Airy we will be sure to stop.

My wife and I went to dinner for an occasion. The service was prompt and attentive. The food was just OK. With a little more attention, the food could have been top notch. We started with a glass of bubbly -- Prosecco to be exact. We expected the bubbly to be served in flutes, but was instead served in regular wine glasses. It didn't have very many bubbles. I suspect the bottle had been opened (and re-corked) for days. The waiter said he did see a few bubbles when it was poured, but that was it. It was pretty flat. We split a fried green tomatoes appetizer, and it was nicely fried, and had a generous mound of crab meat and a sauce on top. The problem was that it all tasted unseasoned. Very little taste to the sauce or anything else. I ordered their Tuscan seafood linguine, and it was a nice portion of linguine, but the seafood was scant. Tiny clams and mussels, and few scallops or shrimp. The linguine was overcooked and the whole thing was drowned in too much pasta sauce. It came with a Caesar salad which was also swimming in dressing -- so much that the lettuce was limp and wilted, with a pool of dressing at the bottom of the bowl. I only ate a few bites before pushing it aside. For dessert, I had the Key Lime pie, and it tasted OK but was really dense - like a block of modeling clay. With a little attention to details (proper seasoning, proper saucing and dressing) I think it would have been a meal that brought us back. But we probably won't return.
