We try to do things outdoors for Covid safety. They have picnic tables to sit at. The food was quick, hot and very good. The staff were helpful and very friendly. We will stop again when in the area for a quick bite. It was...enjoyed by the whole family. Beside it is also an ice cream place for dessert.More

For our family lake trip you can’t beat Archie’s BBQ - best food ever! Debbie Archie is so great helping us plan To Go. Ribs, brisket, Mac n cheese, corn bread, and all of the staples of BBQ. Don’t miss out

We ate dinner here after a day on the lake. As of July, seating was all outside in front of the restaurant. We ordered from the window and the food was brought out just a few minutes after. We all enjoyed our various meat plates...and sandwiches. The gravy that goes with the fries is delicious. The cheese for the cheese fries is similar to nacho cheese you’d get from a movie theater, so I’d stick with the gravy and skip the cheese fries. There are two portable restrooms at the side of the building that provided hand washing as well.More

Had the pork sandwich and was not very good and the price was on the high end. I will try something else next time I am in town.

We got the 2 types of brisket and mac and cheese. Their barbeque sauce is excellent and it is one of the few restaurants open in winter. Friendly staff and make sure our order was right.

Archie's has a nice a nice atmosphere and their food is generally OK but not great and their prices are pretty high. But they have a somewhat captive audience in this tourist trap town (example a lb of meat is $18 regardless whether it is...chicken, pulled pork or brisket; 12 piece of corn bread $20; $9 for a lb of Mac and Cheese). I like brisket but theirs's does not even come close to my favorite BBQ place which is in Corpus Christi, TX.More

I have had food from Archies many times. Today was my first disappointment. 1/2 rack of ribs. Think the came out of smoker too soon. Flavor not cooked through. Borderline not cooked enough. Wife and friend report brisket sandwiches to be delusions.

I had been looking forward to trying Archie's for a long time. Was disappointed. I follow them on social media and their food always looks amazing. We had the sampler (beef, pork & ribs). The ribs were great - the beef was dry, and the...pork was average. But I would try them again for a quick meal.More

Brisket is so tender and delicious. I went without the sauce and enjoyed it very light. Cole slaw was great. Wings were some of the best. So many ways to get them.

Ketchup-based BBQ (not that vinegar junk!). Delicious. Came with extra sauces. Cornbread was above average. Wish I had a second piece with my 2 meat platter. Mac and cheese was very good. Go here. I'll be back next time I'm in the area. For sure.

This was the Best Dinner of our week. The food was great. I thought it was awesome that you could order a "family" meal or individual platters. Ordering was super easy and pick up was easy as well. We will definitely order again, when we...are back in the area!More

Usually when we go out to dinner and pulled pork is on the menu I get that. I did just that at Archies and I must say it was the best pulled pork sandwich I have ever had, just melted in your mouth, no fat...in it, and the sauce which is their own was excellent also. We also got fries and cole slaw, which is made there also. If you are in the area you have to make Archies a stop.More

We heard about Archie's Barbecue from multiple friends who go to Deep Creek often, so we stopped by for lunch. It lived up to the reputation. The food was delicious. I got the "PIggy Platter," which had 2 meats. I chose the ribs and brisket....The ribs were tender & very tasty. The brisket was very good, too. The barbecue sauce is fantastic! Others in our group got the pulled pork sandwiches, and they really liked those, too. The fries were just okay, but the mac & cheese was very good. It's not cheap, but it's worth it. I would definitely go back!More

Before I write a really poor review on Tripadvisor, I normally contact the establishment directly about the experience, in an effort to share my point of view privately, and allow the establishment a chance to respond, even it's as short and simple as "Sorry....We'll try...and do better next time." Back in early July, after a bad experience at Archie's, I contacted them, but 3 weeks later I have still yet to receive a response, so that tells me everything I need to know about how they view their customers. Thus, I'll go ahead and publish my experience to the public. The story goes like this: On Tuesday, July 7th, we called Archie's to order BBQ take-out. We started calling about 5 PM. Without exaggeration, it took us over 30 minutes for someone at Archie's to pick-up the phone. Sometimes the phone would ring endlessly with no answer and other times we would get disconnected. Most people would have simply hung up and moved on, but for whatever reason, we persisted. After 30 minutes plus, we finally spoke with someone at Archie's and placed our order. She told us it would be ready in 45 minutes, and that due to the pandemic, we should park our car in a designated spot and call them, and they'd bring the order out to the car. At the designated time, we arrived and called. The phone rang for over 2 minutes (Yes, I timed it!) before being answered, when they immediately placed us on hold. We were on hold for another 7 minutes. During that time we noticed that the restaurant, from an outward appearance was not that busy. There was no one sitting at the outdoor picnic tables, and there was only one other customer car in the lot. During the 7 minutes we weren't certain if we had gotten cut off, so we debated whether to go to the front door and knock on several occasions. However, after the long delay, a voice came back on the phone and delivered the order to the car. Under any circumstance, the order and subsequent delivery of the food was ridiculous! Once we got the food home, it was another disappointment. I ordered the 1/2 rack of ribs. They were tough and chewy. Certainly NOT fall off the bone delicious. The ribs came with a small cup of BBQ Sauce, that was only filled half full. Seriously?? In addition, the ribs came with a piece of corn bread that was broken in the middle, and had a chunk missing from one of the corners. Unacceptable! During the course of the pandemic, we've all heard that it's important to support our local establishments, which I totally agree with. However, it'd be nice if some of these same local establishments showed equal concern for their customers, in stead of the extremely poor customer service, food quality and lack of follow-up displayed by Archie's. I suspect they think they can get by with this type of customer attention and quality since they're located in a transient tourist area, but I know the good people of Oakland work hard for their money, and once the tourists leave for the summer, they have little patience to deal with poor experiences like this!More
