The atmosphere was warm and inviting, the service fast and friendly, and the menu voluminous. We were excited and thought we'd found "our new place" nearby. Unfortunately the food was not that good. Based on our first impressions and the many positive reviews we're tempted to give it a second chance but the other diners' food didn't look that good either. Upcharges for shared plates and credit card use are always unwelcome.

I had dinner there tonight, twice now I have tried the crabcakes. They were very disappointing, no lump crab meat. They tasted bland and crabmeat was not very good. The rest of the meal was great. For $35, you would think they would offer a better crab cake. There other entrees are very good.

We like small town family owned restaurants especially Italian ones and we were hoping to give this establishment a great review. For many reasons we could not. When we called by phone to ask some questions the owners cut the conversation short stating "we are busy right now". Came into the restaurant and noticed the decor drab and dreary like something out of the 50's and 60's. It could a refresh. We decided to do carry out. Returned after 40 minutes to pick up the order. Owner's son barely cracked a smile. In fact no one behind the counter/ kitchen looked particularly happy to be there. The order came up incorrect but was corrected but still without any smile. When we tried the pizza, it was somewhat rubbery and greasy. The cheese bread good. Baked Ziti dry and chewy but the penne with vodka sauce moist and delicious. When we left the restaurant with our food one of the waitresses in the dining area turned towards us and said with a smile " Bye guys, thank you so much". The only friendly greeting we received in the restaurant the whole day. Please note: La Cucina closes early on Sunday evenings.

The Italian cold cut is well, WOW, Also great pizza, eggplant parm, salads, appetizers (bruzuto). The portions are large, they do charge for an extra plate to share (as written on the menu). Overall, it's a restaurant to put on your list.

The food wasn't bad but the prices were ridiculous. They had a 2 page 'special' section in their menu. None of the entrees on this special page had a price which I thought was wrong of them to keep their customers in the dark. I guess I was feeling a little daring and I took a chance an ordered a chicken dish from it, thinking well it's chicken, it can't be that expensive. Sticker shock when the bill came, $41 dollars for chicken?! Lesson learned. Not going back. The least you can do is print your prices.

My date and I arrived for dinner on a busy Saturday evening. We were greeted quickly and warmly, and our server was attentive and checked in with us throughout our meal. The menu choices were plentiful and our food was expertly prepared. We both really enjoyed the vibe of the restaurant - even though it was fairly crowded, it had a very cozy and friendly atmosphere. We look forward to returning and trying the pizza!

The food was very good and the atmosphere in a smaller restaurant in an older town was really cool. The hospitality of everyone that worked there was awesome. Me and my wife celebrated our 38 year anniversary dinner here, we had the meat lasagna and eggplant. We also took a pepperoni pizza home that was very good. We will definitely be back for dinner again.

Ever since moving to Maryland from New Jersey, this has been the only Italian restaurant we've gone to that tasted like "home". The service is great, the food is delicious. Our server got my order mixed up (was supposed to be a sub and instead gave me a dinner), I didn't want to cause a rutkus so I just accepted the meal (even though it cost me $6.00 more to do this). The only complaint is that if there's an upcharge for certain sauces, etc, they really need to let you know this instead of finding out when you get the bill. I didn't know they charged $1.00 more for marinara sauce instead of plain spaghetti sauce.

Husband I dropped by for lunch. We had been wanting to visit for quite awhile and today fit into our schedule. Heather our waitress was so attentive. She truly made our dining experience memorable. I had the lunch chicken alfredo dish. It was more a dinner size to me. Ate not enough half of it and will enjoy the rest for dinner this evening. My husband had the manicotti and it was a lunch portion as well. To our surprise there were 3 pieces of manicotti in his dish. The food was fresh and made from scratch. We were offered homemade bread with butter which is made in house as well. We cannot wait to go b ack for dinner.

My family visited one evening with high expectations, but were sadly disappointed. Let me start by saying that I loved the homely feel of the place, and was anticipating some good ole Italian home cooking, but that's not what we got. Our calamari appetizer was soft, bland and chewy, which was a sign that they were some frozen store bought brand. My lasagna entrée was not very tasty, and neither was my daughter's shrimp scampi. In fact, my husband was the only one who enjoyed his food, which was an Italian cold cut. But then again, how could you mess that up? I was really hoping to like this place being HdG residents and all. But it just missed the mark for me!

La Cucina is a family owned Italian restaurant in Havre de Grace with amazing Italian dishes that are extremely large portions. Everything is flavorful and tastes amazing, and the service was excellent. I came here with my family for a Mother’s Day dinner, along with a birthday dinner a few years ago, and we have had a great experience each time we have come. Would highly recommend!

I am always on the hunt for the perfect plain cheese pizza. It needs to have a tasty crust, and a flavorful sauce and gooey cheese ratio that blends perfectly together. I have not been able to find that pizza near me at home, but I did find it here in Havre de Grace! We were driving through and it being the Fourth of July, I was willing to settle for any place that was open. La Cucina claimed to have "N.Y style pizza" and, having grown up in New York, I decided to see if they meant it. Well, they do! Very tasty pizza. I hope I have occasion to stop by again some day. I'll be having the simple pie. (Note that in the photo the pizza is half sausage because that is what my husband likes. He also gave the pizza thumbs up and ate all the crust, which he does not normally do!)

We were returning from a business meeting in Philadelphia on Sunday afternoon. We had never been to Havre de Grace but we needed something to eat after our drive. We walked around a bit even though it was somewhat raining. We spotted La Cucina. So we tried it. The service was a bit slow but the food and warm bread made up for it. Under the current economic state, we thought the price was about average. It was well worth stopping here. I am hoping that I will be able to come to Havre de Grace when the weather is nicer and come back to LaCucina.

LA Cucina is very popular for takeout pizza as I could overhear from the steady stream of customers while I enjoyed my own meal in the safely spaced dining area. The overall atmosphere was of a happy family restaurant. Service was excellent. I started with a side salad with house Italian dressing and fresh bread. My appetizer was 4 good sized chicken croquettes in a creamy pesto sauce. The croquettes themselves were nicely crispy on the outside and were made of chicken, rice, and spinach. The green pesto sauce had a generous sprinkle of sun dried tomatoes for contrast. This tasty dish was the highlight of my meal. The cioppino was a huge serving of seafood including mussels, clams, salmon, and tilapia served on penne. The taste did not live up to the appearance as the dish was oversalted and lacked freshness. Finishing off with a slice of Limoncello cake was the perfect way to end a large meal.

My husband and I had lunch here when we were in Havre de Grace. I don't normally eat bread, so I asked for the sandiwch without bread. I was amazed at the presentation--it was gorgeous. And the taste was awesome. My husband got a meatball hoagie and it was equally delicoius. We would definitely go here again if we were in the area. Our server was super as well.
