It is always a pleasure to visit Schmankerl Stube Bavarian Restaurant. Love their food, service and atmosphere. We always go with good friends and spend a couple of hours while dining and just soaking up the ambiance of the place. Their food is fantastic and you never go home hungry.

Was in Hagerstown, MD for another reason and before going researched restaurants there. This one had great reviews and we were not disappointed. Great German food, not too large portions - just right and so delicious. What a find!! Would recommend and return!

Have been to The Stube twice. Both meals were EXCELLENT. I had pork medallions on my first visit and beef medallions on my second visit. The taste was unbelievable. Old fashioned German home cooking at it's best. Desserts were just average. I think they need a better selection for desserts. Would highly recommend this restaurant. 🍸😀

The restaurant was a 35 mile drive from where we live, but well-worth the distance. We made reservations for 5:30 PM on a Saturday; when we arrived it seemed that they weren’t needed, but a half-hour later the place was packed. The decor and the staff’s uniforms reminded us of our trip to Munich several years ago. Our server was... More

Hile visiting my family in Maryland, so we picked this restaurant, because I love German food. My wife, son and his fiance , decided on this place. It was absolutely fantastic. We are definitely returning.

I guess I was expecting some sort of heavy German food, but I was pleasantly surprised at the great food, beer, and service here. We ate in the beer garden which was very nice. The waitress was efficient and friendly, cutting our strudel in half for us when we decided to share. The food was great. The sauerbraten cut with... More

I've found my new summer drink in a peach lambic from Bavaria. The food was delicious and the owner, Charlie, was a charming host. Can't go wrong with the Weiner Schnitzel. The dessert tray is a hard one to pass up.

Now I know what you're thinking. What about the Premium Outlets? And how about the C & O National Historical Park? Or, the Washington County Museum of Fine Arts? They are, indeed, all among the great tourist destinations in the Hagerstown area. However, I will happily maintain that the single best reason for coming to Hagerstown is dining at Schmankerl... The Stube is not a place to dash in and grab a quick bite. (We have done that, though). It is best to be experienced when you can relax and just enjoy each plate. If you know in advance that you are going consider calling ahead and ordering a pork shank. It's a huge serving but better than anything we... More

A real gem for Hagerstown. Its super-warm atmosphere and excellent service coupled with a truly authentic Bavarian menu in an outstanding outdoor 'Biergarten' brings this delight to the forefront of spots to enjoy. Eating indoors is great too, if weather doesn't permit patio dining. Never disappointing.
