Hartles has been a Hagerstown tradition for more than fifty years. It’s not a new shiny fast food place, but for local folks it’s a Mecca. They prepare your sub the way you want to eat it. My favorite is steak and cheese with grilled onions no other yummies. The Hartles on Potomac street is the original- they are still making subs the same way—DELICIOUS. On the wall is a map where you can use a push pin to identify your hometown. It’s a slice of life history at how quick food can be prepared just for you.

I went in to get sub and pudding I got 3 pudding out and they had mildew on them and the red hair girl said it is like that all the time and when she made our subs she had no gloves on and we left and went to Mauginsvile store and got my stuff

I have been eating their subs since I was a child in the 50"s. I rember going there when the price for a sub was 35 cents and I played junior league basketball at the school in the next block. The subs have always been large and full of what evermeat you ask for with cheese,strong onions and hot sauce if wanted. An old family type of deli.

Harltes has been around a long time, I used to stop there for my boss a lot. Probably only because the company would buy my lunch also. I always fund there subs to be over rated. so much bread very little content

Still a great sandwich. Haven't been here for roughly 15 years, lived out state. Visiting from Florida, had to see if the same. Italian sub just as I remember.

Subs with lots of Meat

Love the cold cut sub the best. Lots of meat and rolls are so good. Roast beef sub is very good. I have been going to Hartles my whole life, since a little girl. Even though new sub shops come into the area, Hartles is the best.

Hartle's has been around almost as long as Hagerstown! Don't miss the opportunity to visit this iconic place. They make the BEST subs ever! (For those of you reading this, a sub - as we call them, is the same thing as a hoagie or a grinder - a long bun packed full of yummieness) All varieties available from cold cut, Italian, ham, turkey, roast beef, tuna, plus more! Pick your meat and cheese and condiments as they are made to order. They have fountain and bottled drinks, a huge rack of chips, and offer some sides like red beet pickled eggs, macaroni salad, and some small desserts like brownies. Order at the counter and either take out or eat in. The subs are always delicious.

I visited the Dual Highway store. The service was polite, friendly, and extremely quick. I ordered a steak and cheese 12" sub knowing I was going to take home half of it. The cook served me one half to eat, then when I was ready to leave, gave me the second half all wrapped to go. Where else can you get this personal attention? Great food, consistent quality.

Back to my childhood, Est 1955!

Name may say Hartle's Subs, but ole timers come here for a "Hoagie", chips, & soda pop. NYC deli's ain't got nothing on these folk. They have a few locations in Hagerstown now, but this is the original location. Just 1/2 block from where Mummer's parade in late Oct ends.
