About
Dolce - Eastern European Restaurant & Pizza was established in April 2007 by Iuliana Manea, a beyond talented Romanian lady from Vaslui, Romania. She is known by her customers and the city itself as “Julia”. Julia had the passion to take the cuisine she was taught by her own parents initially, refine it with over 40 years of experience in the industry working in Romania, at various high-class restaurants, and the state of Maryland, in the United States. After accumulating enough knowledge in the industry and adding her own twist to her cuisine, Dolce was born. The restaurant specializes in traditional Romanian cuisine (e.g. stuffed cabbage, tochitura moldoveneasca, traditional soups etc.) as well as Italian and American cuisine. Dolce restaurant dining area includes 10 tables able to host about 40 guests. Despite dining in, carry-out, and delivery service, Dolce performs numerous catering services for a variety of businesses and companies in the city of Hagerstown

Dolce looks lovely and quaint from the outside. It lures you in with the thinking that you have found a hole in the wall gem.
I order the salad and margarita pizza last week. I really really wanted to like this place. The salad was small but decent. It was fresh and crispy.. strangely they only put 2 quarters of a hard boiled egg on it. It seems why not use whole egg..
The pizza was not so good. They added too much garlic. The dough was dry and card board like taste.
The service was ok. They were nice. Better than the pizza.
Now for the worst part, no wine or beer to wash the garlic laden pizza down hatch. Only strong red wine could save this pizza.
Finally, they sell terrible doughnuts at the end. They are nothing more than deep fried left pizza dough with sprinkles of powdered sugar.
My advice is to keep driving.
But then, maybe I got the worst thing on the menu.. remember no wine to save you. You can bring your own bottle and glasses.

My husband and I love the spaghetti with meat sauce, served with garlic bread. The sauce is so good and the serving is a perfect size. We love the wait staff and the cooks at this family run restaurant. It feels as if you are being welcomed into the home of friends each time.

We received a gift certificate to Dolce as a Christmas gift and decided to go last night for my husband's birthday. I'm so glad we did. It's not fancy, no real "ambiance" except for the very nice music they have playing, but the food was wonderful and service was great. Frankly it was kind of nice being able to read the menu without having to hold it up against the obligatory candle and squint. 😂😂
We brought a bottle of wine and were started off with 2 delicious, home baked crusty rolls and butter. I ordered their in-house lasagna and salad and my husband ordered their stuffed veal minus eggplant, with salad. The salads were delicious, crisp with lovely marinated tomatoes and slivers of Parmesan all over.
Our food was delivered piping hot and were very generous portions. Big slabs of hot, crusty garlic bread were including for mopping up the delicious sauce. Julia, the owner(?)/head chef came out while we were eating and was greeting everyone. We mentioned it was our first time and that we were celebrating his birthday. She was so outgoing and gracious.
We ordered some homemade donuts for dessert. Light, airy little puffs of dough, fried and dusted with powdered sugar. They reminded me of beignets, but smaller and lighter. Then suddenly the whole staff was there singing happy birthday and presenting my husband with a birthday cannoli! 😍😍😍
It was a very good dining experience and the bill, excluding tip was only $32!!!!!!!! we will be going back soon to get one of Julia's pizzas and stuffed cabbage.

Dolce is family owned and operated. There is enough free parking on site for the roughly dozen tables inside. Upon being seated you are greeted with a smile and a warm dinner roll. They serve a wide variety of hot and cold meals spanning everything from soup and salad to pizza, moussaka, Italian fare and subs. The physical space is the limiting factor here; tables are close and, on the winter day we ate there, whenever someone opened the door a blast of cold air went throughout the place. The stuffed cabbage we had that day was cold inside. We had lasagna on a previous visit there and it was fine. Confectioners sugar dusted fried dough is given to everyone at the end of their meal. That is how well they treat their customers.

Don't be put off by the small size of the room. The people are nice and the food is excellent. Bring your own wine or beer if you want it- they will accommodate you. I really wish the restaurant was larger but you cannot get better food for the money.
Try it for a casual night of dining.

Lasagna and Ziti both tasted fresh and authentic! Pizza was the perfect blend of cheese and sauce. The young man working the front was polite and friendly and just the whole atmosphere was family-oriented. Will definitely be returning to this hidden gem!

In the middle of nowhere on a crowded thoroughfare in the center of Hagerstown with a parking lot that accomodates five cars, sits a gem of a restaurant. Walk in to Dolce, and you'll wonder w/ seven tables, how they're even able to make money...And then taste their food. I started out w/ a simple salad, that had all fresh ingredient, and tasted like it was prepared on the spot. Chunky tomatoes, crisp lettuce, and an Italian dressing that fit perfectly. Then it was time for the Mousaka. Put simply, in my six decades on this earth, I have never tasted better Mousaka, Fresh ground beef, perfectly cooked potatoes, and a light marinara that must have been made specifically for this dish. The whole dish was fresh tasting and absolutely divine. Our waiter was friendly, attentive, and made sure to remind us to save room for desert, as apparently, Dolce makes fresh Greek donuts for all dine in patrons as a complimentary dessert. Needless to say, we weren't disappointed. Go out of your way to eat at this restaurant, I assure you that you'll leave with a smile on your face.

Dolce may not have a great entrance or inside but their food, service, and pricing is superb.
Our Lasagna and breads were exceptional. They were made in house. The portions are large, so you can share or take leftovers home.
Roberto, our server, was very attentive and personable, even though he had six plus tables.
We will stop at Dolce on our way home to the Carolinas.

Traveling from NC to MA, looked up restaurants in Trip Advisor. Visited one evening and had the best Italian EVER!! Our return home trip we scheduled lunch stop for another meal and had exact experience. Meals were lasagne, spaghetti meatballs, spaghetti meat sauce, salads, garlic toast. Service also perfect.

This was the second time we visited. I had the meatball soup before, and it was delicious, so I wanted to try another soup. Server recommended the bean and ham. I was expected a white, navy bean type soup. Nope. This was so much better. Kidney beans in the most flavorful tomato-based broth. So I asked to speak to the owner. Got some tips on the ingredients. When I asked about the type of canned tomatoes she used, she said no, they came from her garden. Nothing is frozen or comes out of a can. Amazing in this day and age.
Hubby said his usual steak and cheese sub was perfect, and he is not fond of eating out..hard to please.
Take a drive, ignore the facade, and enjoy. You can bring your own beer or wine too.

When you hear, hidden gem…it’s Dolce. Very unassuming, inside looks like a small town pizza joint. But the food is amazing. Not just fresh and tasty, but quality ingredients. You won’t find a salad in Hagerstown with better or fresher veggies. Complimentary rolls to start and doughnuts for dessert. No idea how they make money with these prices. Photos of our food. Pizza, ziti, salad…$33. Worth the drive across town if staying in Hagerstown.

Stopped here as a quick last minute dinner while visiting from out of town and we are so pleased we did. We had the white pizza with spinach and it was delicious. Definitely in the top three of white pizzas I have ever had. The service was perfect in every way. Looking forward to going back and trying other delights on the menu when we are back in town.

Website says they are open until 9:00. It's 6:30, and the door is locked and parking lot empty. They are closed. We are on a stopover on a drive that started in Indiana and will finish in Virginia. Please post store hours appropriately.

The parking is tight and awful and the seating area can be tight but everything else os top notch .
An excellent pizza and waitress with the manager offering us free donuts on the house to take home.
Clean and well maintained, just keep in mind the seating can be tight, if that bothers you.
I really liked it and I am looking forward to the stuffed cabbage in the future!

Delicious! Pretty sure that was homemade bread for the huge steak & cheese sub. Meatballs homemade too. Excellent onion rings. Very clean. We want to come back to try the dinner selections. Don't be fooled by the exterior. It's our new fav!
