Spiritual, in tune with the environment and gloriously situated on the western side of the Valley and Ridge Appalachians (about 2 3/4 hours from Washington, DC), Savage River Lodge has a restaurant that offers the best in al fresco dining on its long porch that overlooks the verdant (in summer) mountain side. There for a very late weekend lunch, we... More

We ate on the porch with hummingbirds buzzing by. The meal was fantastic. I had the filet and my wife the chicken marsala. Both were outstanding. However, the best part of the meal was dessert. You have to try the peanut butter pie. The crust is crushed oreos and it's topped with a fudge layer. The wine list is extensive... More

Meal was amazing. Both lunch and dinner were delish and fun. Vegan cheese sticks a must. Beet salad good. Crab cakes and drunken mushrooms out of this world. Wine list impressive.

I had the mushroom and endive soup along with the perfectly sauteed mussels. Heavenly! I ate at the bar and made fast friends!

We had dinner while staying in one of the cabins at Savage River. We started of with a Trio of Wild Sausage - they were savory and cooked to perfection. My dinner selection was the Wild Turkey Salmon with gingered carrots - again cooked to perfection and very delicious. My partner had the Quail and Waffles with a fig jam... More

If your looking for a beautiful country or romantic setting, this is the place. The item we enjoyed the most off the menu was the crab cake appetizer. One of the best I ever tasted. Their signature meatloaf dish was very enjoyable. The filet mignon lacked flavor and was a disappointment. The seafood dip appetizer was tasty, but the sausage... More

Worst experience ever! Booked a weekend here for my husband's birthday- the reviews on Trip Advisor looked amazing. We arrived Friday evening and were kind of disappointed by the cabin-all of the reviews talked about the amazing bathtubs/beds/etc. and it just didn't look anything like it had been described (the bed was extremely uncomfortable and the bathroom was average at... Thank you for taking the time to let us know your thoughts on our business. As we discussed with you, at length, we are sorry that you found our hospitality sub par. There was a misunderstanding with the in-cabin dining option, as it is only offered before 5:00 p.m. or after 8:00 p.m., unfortunately the only times we can accommodate... More

We had several meals here while staying for the weekend, and they were ok, but not great. Meatloaf and salmon were probably the best options. Rabbit ragu was a little bland and came on top of undercooked pasta. It was supposedly a fresh pasta from some place local, so maybe the kitchen just didn’t know how to do fresh pasta.... More

Good food, great staff, wonderful ambiance. Service is relaxed, friendly, and informal. The menu has a good mix of meat, seafood, and vegetarian dishes.
