Love Captain Dan's for crabs but not only crabs. Fried flounder is lightly battered and the portion is huge. Two large pieces of flounder and very tasty. Never dry or rubbery but light and flavorful. This is a hidden jewel in Eldersburg. Unlike other restaurants, Dan has the perfect blend of spices for his crabs. Never disappointed by the meal... More

My sons girlfriend treated us to this place. We ordered boiled crabs and some crab cake sandwiches. The crabs were excellent. Had great spice rub? Covering the crabs. They were boiled perfectly and had a great taste with the spices added. The crab cakes were really packed with crab chunks not much filler at all. Rolls tasty. I enjoyed the... More

My first time going to Capt D's. The Md crab soup was great and had a nice Amt of crab pieces in it. For dinner I had the 6 fried shrimp dinner with super tasty onion rings and a side salad. My grandson had a crabcake and ate sine of the combo platter my daughter ordered. The shrimp, scallops, fish... More

It is a bare bones type of restaurant with fabulous seafood. The staff are always very friendly and the food is delicious. Not much filler in the crab cakes and you get the choice of broiled or fried on all items.

Captain Dans has great crabs, and crab cakes and crab soup!!! We usually get the food to go because the restaurant itself isn't much to write home about, but the food is great.

My family and I love meeting up at Captain Dan's, especially for crabs. You can always count on the crabs being tasty, hot, and fresh. Crabs are steamed to order, so no soggy, old crabs here, and their crab seasoning is on point! I love that the restaurant is family owned and operated and everyone is always friendly. A personal... Disclaimer: I don't particularly enjoy pick-and-eat crabs. I was in a party of 5. The other four thoroughly enjoyed the medium crabs they ordered. I opted for an appetizer of seafood-stuffed potato skins and an entree of stuffed shrimp. The problem was, the stuffing for each was the same--heavy on breading with a glue-like texture. The side salad that came... More

I don't eat steamed crabs very often anymore, as I moved out of the Baltimore area many years ago, but I try to get my fill once or twice a year when I'm back for a visit. We chose Captain Dan's because it was close to where I was at the time and the price was pretty good. $60 a... More

The Crabs are usually great. The service can use a little help. But when I want crabs, this place is always on spot.

I say that this is not my favorite restaurant in Eldersburg and the reason is that the dinning room is very cold and uninviting to me. My husband likes it here but I also have never really had a great meal there either. Sorry just how I feel. We had crabs the last time we were here and they were... More
