Went to Quincy’s Uptown with my family on Friday night for dinner. The place was busy and he bar was full. The waitstaff was friendly. They took reservations, which was nice. We’ve been looking forward to trying this new restaurant. Unfortunately, we were very disappointed....The acoustics were awful. We sat at a 4-top against the wall, but were unable to have a conversation. The poor server could barely hear what we were saying to her and initially got my son’s drink order wrong. It got worse when they turned on the music. Acoustic tiling on some of the bare walls and dropped from the high ceilings may help.
Then, we ordered. It took FOREVER to get our food. The server was attentive and apologized for the backup in the kitchen. She brought ketchup to the table and asked if we wanted other basics like salt and pepper. We thought it odd that that wasn’t on the table and we had to be asked. We also had to ask for silverware when the food arrived. I am pretty sure the person we asked was the owner or manager, but when she returned, she only left silverware for my husband and me, walking away without giving some to my two adult sons. Granted, what they ordered did not require silverware, but that was the only way they could get a napkin. So when she came back, I then asked her for napkins.
Back to the food...it was pricey...and mediocre. I had the fish and chips, which came out cold initially. My husband had them take it back to heat up. It was pretty good, but hard to eat positioned on a mountain of lukewarm fries on a plate that was too small. I had to remind them that coleslaw was included. The fish was pretty good, flaky and well seasoned. My son had a burger. It was over cooked and just “ok,” as we’re the tater tots. My other son had a white pizza on flatbread with grilled chicken that he said was pretty good. It looked good to me! My husband got the Nashville Hot Chicken sandwich, well after the rest of us we’re served, which he claimed was pretty good. He thought it was a little odd that they served his side salad on the same plate as the sandwich, with his side of tater tots on a separate plate, rather than the other way around.
Also, aside from a plain Caesar or house salad, there doesn’t seem to be any vegetarian options on the menu.
I know it’s a new place and we would consider giving it another try, but even if they improve the food and streamline the service, the price and inability to have a conversation at the table will probably keep us from coming back.More
