Spectacular Appetizer and Entree Followed by Mediocre Dessert

I ate here with a business colleague. Both appetizers and entrees were nothing short of excellent, but dessert was a different story - BAD!

A cute setting on the lake in Columbia. We decided on the lunch special with chicken and it was delicious. Crepes for dessert were the perfect finish. That being said, the service was sub par, especially given the few other diners in the restaurant. We could barely get a refill of water.

This restaurant like many of the better restaurants in the greater-Baltimore area is owned by the Foreman/Wolff group. There is also a sister restaurant with the same name in Baltimore. I had never been there but last Saturday we had a family dinner there for 8 of us. They gave us a nice round table which was great but it... More

Again a wonderful experience. Everytime we go there they have different foie gras recipe! Duck confit is a classic we highly recommend. Excellent wines. Like also the little fast food corner for quick bite by the lake.

I have been there about six times since they opened. They are trying very hard but not living up to their reputation. One challenge has been to find experienced and competent wait staff-it does seem to have improved. The main courses are usually very good, the sides are often not. I've had unseasoned white rice with white fish and potatoes... More

We're eaten at Petit Louis Bistro quite a few times and have seldom been disappointed in the quality of the food. There may be times when the kitchen seems a bit slow, but the service is top notch. During a recent visit, we started by sharing the beet salad and Beignet de Crevette, very different appetizers, but equally delicious! My... More

My latest trip to the Petit Louis Bistro in Columbia exemplified what has been a persistent experience. This was my third visit this year. The food is really good, but not quite at the level one might hope for from a restaurant with the reputation of Petit Louis. It would make my top twenty for the greater Baltimore area, but... More

Petit Louis Bistro on the Lake in Columbia is a reincarnation of a fin du siècle Parisian bistro in atmosphere and food, more quiet and a touch more formal than their Roland Park original. I never tire of classic French cuisine and I have not been disappointed here. I especially love the house-made charcuterie to begin and, no matter what... More

It is the ambiance and decor that gives Petit Louis bistro 3 stars. The price of both food and brand beverages is completely out of line for a restaurant in suburbs - we spent recently over $130 for two guests, incl. a bottle of average wine. Yes, the food is tasty yet spotty - one of our guests, a real... More

The Bistro is a top class French restaurant and may be the most expensive eatery in Columbia. Dinner costs $40 to $80/person so our expectations were high. A group of five family members and friends ate there last night. Making a reservation was unnecessary because it was only 1/3rd full. There was no one to greet us when we arrived.... More
