Made a business meeting over dinner, we reserve a privet room. The service and the food were outstanding , the steak was well made and very good. Good place to visit.

Went for my birthday dinner, it was very good food and very efficient. Not a lot of waiting time between courses. Great deal for a Friday 1/2 price wine. I got the house made mozzarella and tomato salad to start, then the special veal scallopine. All so very good, husband was quite happy with his crab cakes and special watermelon/strawberry... More
I went here after working a really crazy workday and wanted a delicious meal that didn't taste like carry out, but didn't want fine dining. A friend that eats out regularly recommended the crab cake dinner here and it did not disappoint! I think I know what we're having for dinner tonight too!
Any restaurant that has a 54 year track record--the current owners are celebrating their 40th anniversary--must be doing more than a few things right. We hadn't been for many years as the restaurant is a longish drive, but we were delighted with the friendly service, the informed servers, the lovely light filled room with views of the lawn populated with... When I go to Kings Contrivance it is always to celebrate an occasion. The place is set up in a historic house located on top of a small hill. Once you walk in you are always greeted with a smile. This restaurant has not changed over the years and the food is wonderful. I have found the prices our very reasonable... More
My wife and I had not eaten at King's Contrivance for a very long time. We went there last night to celebrate our anniversary and had an outstanding meal. The restaurant was as beautiful as ever. The server, Sharon, was extremely professional and helpful without being intrusive. A special surprise was the restaurant's special "40th anniversary" (theirs, not ours) menu.... More
The restaurant is a bit old-fashioned in style -- a mansion, with four-five tables per room. Not my usual style. But it worked well for our reunion of two couples. Before the dinner was over, we were talking with others in the room. Food was excellent! Menu included daily specials and 3-course dinners. Service was great. The waitress was helpful,... More
We were greeted by one of the owners and from that moment onward the dinner for friends' 50+ anniversary was so special. The waitstaff timed serving perfectly. I don't know when I have had better soft shell crab or spinach salad. King's Contrivance has an extensive wine list; our host selected some very good wines. Our host had a steak... More
This is an expensive restaurant -- old school style. We brought grandparents and grandkids (teenagers) for a celebration dinner. The service was excellent and so was the food. They have a lovely porch -- closed in so no mosquitos and nice breezes. Plenty of parking (it's free, so no need for validated parking)
