I had my wedding at the wellwood, and it turned out beautiful. The venue has breathtaking views of the water, and their wedding planner Casey made my dream wedding perfect. The food was absolutely delicious!

Great food, great service, all around great place. Big menu with lots of options. The crab cakes and crab imperial were excellent. The bread that was served was also very good, as was the butter. Our server was almost too nice but seemed genuine. Prices...were reasonable given this is a “real” seafood place on the shores of Maryland. I will definitely make the drive to the somewhat remote Charlestown, MD.More

This was my first visit. I had no idea where we were headed but my family knows i love seafood. We arrived with a party of 9. We were promptly seated in a clean open area. There was another large group seated nearby. My initial...concern was the screaming baby drowning out all opportunity for conversation. It turns out the party was finishing up their meal and baby was just tired and ready to go. Here we go! Appetizer: calamari was delicious! The accompanying sauces went well with it. Dinner entre: Crab cakes with asparagus. The crab cakes were awesome. They were nice sized with hardly any filler and lumps of crab, seasoned to perfection. The asparagus were slightly overcooked. I should've sent them back. A loaded baked potato quickly took over my tastebuds. Dinner entre: Broiled Sea combo is an excellent choice! Where can you go wrong? Lobster cooked and well seasoned. Along with french fries on the side and a salad. Dinner entre: Freshly prepared pan seared rockfish paired with mashed potatoes and a side salad. Another excellent choice on the menu. Issues: hushpuppies took extra long to send out. Waitress asked several times, manager had to intervene. They arrived overcooked almost burnt. Overall: will definitely come back for a return visit. No issues that couldn't be fixed. Food and ambience definitely gave a seaside feeling. Sidenote: we were permitted to bring a bakery purchased birthday cake for the celebration.More

Our latest visit to The Wellwood was as a guest at a Wedding Reception during Covid-19. Masks and social distancing had to be observed. The food, as always was great. My other visits there were for seafood and Thanksgiving buffets which have been wonderful. We're...looking forward to being able to enjoy each of those buffets again.More

This was our first time here and the food was great! We had the Andrew sushi roll which was fantastic ! I wish I took a picture of it ☹️. We also had a cup of the crab bisque and Maryland crab soup. Both were...very good. We hope to return back and this time have a full dinner. Wellwood is Verygood!More

We have been coming here for more than 15 years. They used to have some of the best soft shell crabs. They must have changed chefs.Theu now come heavily battered where you cannot taste the crab.Too bad every good thing come to end eventually.

It was our first time here and we were very excited to try somewhere new for seafood. They did not have availability in the main restaurant so we were seated under the tent. You order the food and they bring it to your table, the...food runners were nice even though we did not have a dedicated server. The food was average, I ordered the broiled seafood platter and the lobster tail was inedible. So overcooked it was leathery and very small- and once they bring you the food that is it -you see no other server come back out. Scallops were good but certainly not worth the price. The clientele sat outside the tent chain-smoking and drinking shots. the highlight was when we went to our car and saw a guy staggering to his car, pull his pants down and and urinate in front of us (including our children). We won’t be back.More

They also have a "All you can eat seafood" deal. Seemed more reasonable than getting just crabs.

I don't think so. We cane in from a boat. We were covered up, but very casually.

The entire restaurant inside and out is casual. Men with tank tops and flip flops usually sit outside at the picnic tables in the back. Tee shirts, polo shirts, shorts and Docksiders are fine for inside the main restaurant... More
