Eclectic menu and appetizers all reasonably priced. Comfortable booth and table settings in the bar area and a choice of well decorated dining rooms complement the the always crowded bar rails. Good lite fare specials always available at reasonable prices.

Few restaurants have the history of Matthew's. Older residents of Catonsville remember it as a "Speak-easy" during Prohibition. It's only gotten better over the decades. The Chicken Salad was heralded as almost as good as anyone's Grandmother's. The Shrimp Salad was also marvelous not overly-seasoned. Service was friendly and efficient. Desserts, though, were nothing to write home about. An added... More

Good food. Generous portions. Good service. Nothing too exciting. Minor quibble: breakfast sausage links looked uncooked. They were cooked, of course, but not appealing looking. I've always enjoyed my meals here, breakfast lunch and dinner. I've never been dazzled, but never been let down.

OMG. I had an ice cream cookie sandwich and it was nothing short of awesome, addictive and amazing! I had dinner first yes so let me say a few things about it. The single crab cake, cucumber salad and mashed potatoes were to die for. I have had that dinner twice within a week now; but should my diet allow... More

The food was generic and the service was horrible. The hostess was pleasant but the bar/wait staff only cared about being on their phones and hanging out with their friends instead of serving. This is a definite skip if you're in town.

We are there for an early dinner. Six of us were seated quickly and service was very prompt and friendly. Everything was delivered to the table on time and correctly. Drinks were refilled as needed. Nothing could have been any better. What an amazing delight. If you're in the area and eat elsewhere, you've made a mistake.

We had eaten at Matthew's predecessors with inconsistent experiences. Matthew's changed my mind and banished those memories. Each one of us had a different meal and they were uniformly good from soup to dinner salad to seafood to a beef dish. The decor is stylish and soothing. Service was a bit absent-minded, but did not spoil our experience.

We used the large private room on the ground level at Matthews for a 75 person dinner for out of town guests for my son's wedding. Matthew's banquet manager was great to work with. He helped us plan a casual Maryland picnic menu that differed from other more formal events during the wedding weekend and also accommodated some food allergies... More

Have eaten her twice with a group of friends especially made reservations for Lobster Night. The second time we went for a 6PM reservation we were told we ordered the last lobsters. Awful early on a night for the special has already run out. Service is good, drinks were well made selection is good on the menu. Food was as... More
