Stoney's still has the best crab cakes around. Period. And the Broome's Island fare always seems better than their other restaurants. Great scenery sitting outside watching the boats come and go, kids dipping for crabs and fish occasionally jumping out of the water! The crab dip appetizer is always delicious! However, we came on a Wednesday night which is "bags"... More

With extended family from overseas with us, decided this would be a nice experience for all, and it was! Service was appropriately timed and very pleasant. Drinks were refilled with a smile. Rockfish and oysters were delicious! We "shared" a piece of red velvet cake, after eating full meals, and so glad we did! We will definitely be back again!

Good food and good service. Nice view of the bay. Had a fascinating "Southern Maryland Grilled Cheese" sandwich consisting of cheese, ham and a generous crab patty on a grilled bun. Excellent!

We have been here several times in the past and really enjoyed the great setting and crab cakes. Sadly, our return visit was very disappointing. We drove over an hour to get here and experienced terrible service and mediocre food. While the fish is fresh, and the crab tasty, the terrible service put a real damper on the outing. They... More

On a beautiful Friday in late May--a respite from a dreary month of rain--husband Peter and I drove to Broomes Island, in Southern Maryland, a 90-minute drive from Capitol Hill in Washington DC. We had read about Stoney's Seafood House in The Washington Post and decided to try it. We were not disappointed. We were seated right by the water--the... More

Stoney's was so disappointing. We waited over an hour for cold scallops, and our table was never cleaned. Our poor 16 year old waitress got the bill wrong, and then couldn't find a manager to help her fix it. Honestly, I'm not sure I saw anyone over 18 working during the whole time we were there. This place is in... More

Not negative, nor demanding here. I do not enjoy giving bad review. But, have to share with others. The setting is fantastic and beautiful by the water. Went on a Sunday for lunch. Not many people; maybe 2 tables with people. All plastic, cups, plates. I paid $19 buck for a moderate size platter (plastic basket) of lots of fries,... More

Recently an article appeared in the Alexandria free paper discussing Stoney's. We took a chance on drove over from VA for lunch. Located on one of the many tributaries to the Chesapeake Bay and Potomac River, the view was worth the trip. And then came the food, and service both of which were excellent. Two of our group had Fried... More

For years, Stoney's set a high standard for seafood in the Prince Frederick area. However, on the evening of 9/19, for us, that standard changed. They were out of soft shell crabs and fried oysters (key menu items). The broiled rockfish alternatives were paltry at best. The service was a joke. With reordering and waiting and waiting, we were there... More
