We received excellent service and food during yesterday’s visit. Our waitress was wonderful. Highly recommend the crabcakes! They are full of lump crab meat. The fried green tomatoes with goat cheese are to die for. Our complements to the chef!
We went out to dinner at Rip's last night. This was our first time in a restaurant in 11 months. They did a good job with distancing. We had a nice time. We had been there a few times in the past, and were not...tremendously impressed. The dinner last night was very good. We had prime rib, a nice bottle of wine, French onion soup, dessert.More
The service was very good. The server was very nice and attentive. Every time I go here, there are never any rolls or if they have them, they are hard or you get after meal. The meal came with roll which i asked for. It...came to me when I was done eating. The turkey was good but the gravy and sides were not very hot. Dont live in area but pass few a thru times a year and always stop at. Friendly hostess and nice greeting and felt welcome there.More
First vist with my oldest sibling not sure who the cook was but the food was not good at all however the waiter was EXCELLENT!!More

Hi Binky Bink
Thank you for taking the time to provide us with your feedback. We take great pride in our service AND food, so I would love to hear more about your meal and what we can do better in the future.
FIRE THE MANAGER - bottom line up front, I think this manager has a problem with African Americans or he has a personality disorder
This is the SECOND time that I have patronized this restaraunt and it is the second time the manager has been...flat out rude. Yesterday, my wife made reservations to be outside in the shaded area. When we arrived, the temperature outside was a bit too hot for my parents who are seniors. I mentioned that to the hostess and I asked to be seated inside. She didn't have a problem, but then she had to ask her manager and then all hell broke out.
The manager physically looked and acted EXTREMELY irritated and started mumbling under his breath to the hostess, "you see how these people ask for one thing and then want something else" bla bla bla with a really negative and poor attitude. The way he was talking was like, he passively aggressively wanted me to hear what he was saying. He was talking under his breath like I asked him to move heaven and earth for my table to be inside.
I asked him if he had a problem. The manager looked at me with the sharpest eyes and started to argue with me.
- "NO! I don't have a problem, whats YOUR problem!?"
- well based on you mumbling under your voice about how people do this and do that, you have an issue with me changing my mind that we want to sit inside, why is this a problem?
- very rudley the manager replies - "I don't have a problem, YOU obviously have a problem! You made reservations for outside, but now you want to sit inside!"
- correct, so why are you mumbling under your breath like I am causing a huge issue? Im asking again, what is your problem??
I look at the hostess and she is just staring down at her paper and she seems totally embarrassed like he acts like this all the time.
I then say, let me make sure they want to sit outside because the manager was now going back and forth at me, literally yelling at me because I wanted to change to indoor seating. I just had to walk away.
My parents said that it would be best to sit inside.
So I return back inside to let them know. I return back inside, the manager is still talking under his breath to the hostess and he wanted to be sure that I saw that he was talking about me when I returned. Basically being childish.
He then says, "FINE! You wanna sit inside!?!" He frustratingly grabs the menus and silverware and walks passed me to a table right next to the front door and says, "HERE! Here's your table!" As he throws the menus and silverware onto the table like a child in front of my parent's and wife who have now entered the building.
They are so confused as to why this guy is acting this way. I ask the hostess "Please don't tell me that this guy is the manager." The hostess just shakes her head and says yes. My parents ask what was going on, but I didn't want to upset them because if I had told my father, then I'm not sure what would have happened in there. My father does not tolerate disrespect, especially from an establishment that we are GIVING OUR MONEY TO.
Again, this is the second time that he has been rude and VERY abrasive. The first time I came (the first day they reopened!), we were running a tad bit late and when we arrived, he had the worst attitude about reservations are for a reason and how we were late, etc etc. I just thought he was having a bad day, but I think this manager has a problem with African Americans or he has a personality disorder.
FIRE THE MANAGER - he is the rudest person I have come across in a long long time.More

Finally went back to Rip's after several years and glad we did. Ambiance, greeting, service AND food were very good. The last time we had been here was for an Easter Buffet several years ago. Prior to that, it was a place that we would...go to occasionally. Not fancy but friendly and decent food. We decided to give it another try after going (and leaving after waiting forever to be waited on) to the local Applebee's that definitely is on a quick trip to oblivion.
I found the interior of Rip's had been upgraded and pleasant that smartly recalled some local history and connection with horse racing. The hostess was quick to greet and seat us. The server was prompt in her greeting also being sure to mention the daily specials and personal favorites from the menu. Once we ordered, our food and drinks were served promptly. I ordered their meatloaf and was truly impressed with their delicious recipe. Check them out!More
My favorite area place to drop in for a quick tasty bite to eat. Been going here since the 60's! Tasty fried chicken, seafood, grilled trout, meatloaf or just a burger. Nice selection of vegetables and love the roasted brussel sprouts and hot cornbread muffins!...Very reasonable prices and plenty of food.More
I had eaten at Rips on and off over the years but didn't remember why I seldom came back. We had to get seated somewhere quickly and Rip's could seat us. The food presentation and size of portions was good. Waitress was disinterested in us,...the food was all tasteless---in desperate need of seasoning! I asked for my meat to be well done but it came less than medium so had to send it back and wait. Nice atmosphere and decorations but the taste of the food is the most important to me for a good experience.More
Rip's use to be my favorite restaurant for quality take home food. I was so disappointed/offended by the bartender, I had a couple questions about my order and then he appeared irritated and said that carry out orders should be handled at the deli and...he should be concentrating on the customers and not the to go orders. Thankfully, he had someone help me that was very helpful and decent. FYI, most bartenders at much busier restaurants can usually handle to-go orders. I have never had this problem at Rip's before. Also, another customer noticed his attitude with me and I mentioned it to a manager while i was leaving.More

I am so sorry to hear about your experience with us. Thank you for bringing this to our attention. We will look into this incident and make sure it does not happen again. I appreciate you taking the time to provide us with feedback.
Really liked the whole atmosphere of the place. Quite a bit of history I'm sure here. The food was very good and the portions were nice. I would have liked to see a bit more of a selection of appetizers and salads but overall really...liked the place. Will definitely be coming back.More
